Chapter 349: Director Li |
At the entrance of the building.
Linda looked around. She had just received a call—President Chen would be arriving soon.
Last time, after President Chen handed her his business card and left, she did a bit of research based on the information on the card.
What she discovered was quite shocking.
That young man turned out to be the president of a corporation.
There were plenty of corporate presidents out there, but one so young—this was the first time she had ever seen such a thing.
Of course, what surprised her even more was that Nanhe Coffee was actually one of President Chen’s businesses.
No wonder his expression had been so strange when she mentioned Nanhe Coffee back then.
Not long after, a black G-Class Mercedes pulled up in front of the building, instantly drawing the attention of many passersby.
She had looked into this model recently at a dealership—it cost around 1.5 million yuan.
Rich people, huh!
She sighed to herself, then saw a young woman step out of the car first, followed by her helping a young man out.
When she recognized the two familiar figures, Linda froze for a moment before quickly hurrying over.
Those two were clearly President Chen and his assistant. She couldn’t afford to be careless.
Glancing again at the black G-Class, she couldn’t help but marvel inwardly.
For someone who was the president of a corporation, driving a car that cost just over a million yuan was incredibly low-key.
“President Chen, you’re here. Please, follow me.”
She greeted him respectfully as he approached.
Chen Mo gave a slight nod and followed her without a word.
After all, this was for twenty thousand yuan!
They entered the building, went up to the third floor, and stepped into a studio.
Soon, they were brought before a middle-aged man.
“Director Li, this is Chen Mo. See? I told you he was the right one.”
Linda introduced him. Since she had promised not to reveal Chen Mo’s identity, she didn’t go into details about his background. She didn’t mention anything about his company or his position.
The man addressed as Director Li studied Chen Mo carefully, a look of delight appearing in his eyes.
Linda had shown him photos of Chen Mo before—back when he was in a suit. At the time, he thought the man fit the theme of this issue of Men’s Uno quite well.
But it hadn’t been anything particularly stunning. Now, seeing him in person, he was genuinely surprised.
In real life, Chen Mo’s appearance, his aura, his physique, even his subtle expressions—all of it matched the theme of Men’s Uno even better than the photos had suggested.
No wonder Linda had spoken so highly of him.
She’d really found a gem.
“Hello, I’m Li Tianyang. You can call me Director Li.”
“Nice to meet you, Director Li. I’m Chen Mo, but you can just call me Xiao Chen.”
Chen Mo smiled and shook his hand, then asked directly, “Director Li, when does the shoot begin?”
He was here to earn money, not to make small talk.
Li Tianyang paused for a moment, then chuckled as he responded, “We can start right away. The makeup artists are ready. Just head over, change clothes, and get your makeup done.”
“Linda, take Xiao Chen over.”
As he watched Chen Mo and Linda head toward the makeup room, a trace of surprise flickered across Li Tianyang’s face.
This model was a bit unusual.
When other models found out who he was, they were always overly polite, eager to chat and flatter him, hoping to leave a good impression.
But this Chen Mo didn’t try to curry favor at all. In fact, he even seemed a little impatient.
Did he not realize that if he got on Li Tianyang’s good side, he could land future magazine shoots, commercials, maybe even a shot at the film industry?
After all, there had been a model before who, with his help, had gone on to become a top-tier actor.
But maybe that was exactly why he found Chen Mo so refreshing. Every time he did a shoot, those models would constantly try to cozy up to him, and it was exhausting.
Chen Mo, on the other hand, didn’t seem to have the slightest interest in that.
Interesting.
Could it be that he was acting this way on purpose, trying to stand out and catch his attention?
He’d seen that trick before. But in the end, they always gave themselves away.
Li Tianyang stared at the makeup room in the distance, deep in thought.
After a while, he chuckled softly to himself.
Whether Chen Mo was trying to get his attention or not, he’d know soon enough—once the shoot was over.
Time passed, bit by bit.
Chen Mo had no idea how many suits he had changed into. As soon as one outfit was done, he would switch into another and continue shooting.
He suddenly realized that earning this twenty thousand wasn’t as easy as he’d thought.
Then again, in this world, when was making money ever easy?
Inside the studio, the shoot went on for nearly eight hours before finally wrapping up.
“President Chen, the shoot’s finished!”
Shen Rou walked over and handed him a bottle of water.
Looking at President Chen’s exhausted face, she couldn’t help but feel puzzled. He was the president of a corporation—why would he take on a modeling job like this?
For twenty thousand yuan?
That couldn’t be it. The thought barely formed in her mind before she dismissed it.
President Chen was the head of a corporation, someone with immense wealth. Why would he care about a mere twenty thousand?
Shen Rou couldn’t figure it out. She had no idea what President Chen was really after.
Sigh.
She still had a long way to go.
If Wei Yan were here, he would definitely be able to see the deeper meaning behind President Chen’s actions.
Chen Mo, however, didn’t notice Shen Rou’s expression. He took the glass of water, drank a sip, and leaned back in his seat, visibly relaxed.
“Xiao Chen, this shoot was a great success.”
Li Tianyang walked over from a distance, his face lit up with excitement.
Chen Mo looked at Li Tianyang’s enthusiastic expression but remained indifferent. Whether the shoot was a success or not had nothing to do with him. What he really wanted to know was—when was he going to get paid the 20,000 yuan he was promised?
“Glad to hear it went well. Director Li, I was wondering when…”
As expected.
Hearing Chen Mo’s words, Li Tianyang thought to himself.
Based on past experience, he could already guess what Chen Mo was about to say next.
It was always something along the lines of, “When you have time, I’d love to treat you to a meal.”
The joy he’d felt from the successful shoot instantly faded.
He really disliked people who tried to curry favor.
If someone was truly capable, even if they didn’t try to please him, he would still remember them. And when the opportunity arose, he’d be willing to give them a chance.
With that thought, a trace of disappointment flickered in Li Tianyang’s heart. He had been quite satisfied with this young man’s appearance and performance during the shoot.
If only he were the type who didn’t try to flatter, who remained composed and respectful without being servile…
Li Tianyang would have been more than willing to offer him some help in the future.
What a shame.
That thought passed through his mind in a flash.
Just as Li Tianyang was silently sighing, Chen Mo finished the rest of his sentence.
