Chapter 347: Pastry Combo Launch |
“That concludes the reform plan.”
“If anyone has different suggestions or ideas, feel free to speak up so we can discuss them.”
Su Dan looked up at the many store managers gathered in the meeting room.
She was hoping they could offer better suggestions to help Coffee Shop grow and improve.
But to her disappointment, after she posed the question, the room fell silent. None of the managers spoke up.
After a while, one of them finally raised a hand.
“Manager Su, the proposal to add pastries is definitely a good one. But there’s a problem—we don’t have any supply channels for those pastries.”
“That’s nothing to worry about. I’ve already arranged the supply channels. When the time comes, pastry chefs will be sent to your stores to teach the preparation process and go over important details.”
Su Dan had already started contacting suppliers after her last discussion with Song Xia.
The purpose of today’s meeting was to give the store managers a heads-up. In a couple of days, the ordered pastries would be delivered to each location, and Coffee Shop would officially roll out the new offerings.
They briefly discussed some of the more practical aspects of the reform in the meeting room.
For example, creating a promotional poster to stick on the windows, or setting up a display board at the entrance of each Coffee Shop.
After all, they had to let customers know about the new Pastry Combo. Otherwise, no one would even be aware of it.
“Alright, if there’s nothing else, we’ll end the meeting here.”
“Everyone, go back and handle this matter carefully. It concerns the future of Coffee Shop, so don’t take it lightly.”
The meeting ended.
The store managers packed up their notebooks and left the room in an orderly fashion.
After leaving the meeting room, Su Dan headed straight for the General Manager’s Office. She knocked lightly on the door before entering.
“Teacher Su, your meeting’s over?”
Song Xia looked up as Su Dan walked in.
“Yes, it’s done,” Su Dan nodded.
“And you? How did your video meeting go?”
“Just finished as well. I’ve already communicated the reform plan to the rest. Now we just wait for the pastries to arrive at each store.”
Song Xia nodded, but she couldn’t help feeling a little anxious inside.
She wasn’t sure whether this reform would actually succeed.
“Don’t worry. Based on my experience, this reform will definitely have an effect. The only unknown is how much it will change Nanhe Coffee.”
Su Dan noticed the worry on Song Xia’s face and immediately understood what she was thinking.
She knew Song Xia well.
On the surface, she always seemed unfazed by Coffee Shop’s development or the losses it had been experiencing. But when it came to offline research and store visits, her enthusiasm and dedication were unmatched.
Su Dan knew that Song Xia genuinely wanted Coffee Shop to succeed.
“I understand, Teacher Su.”
Song Xia smiled faintly. Hearing such a confident response from Su Dan eased her worries considerably.
…
A few days later,
At the Nanhe Coffee flagship store—the very first shop they had opened.
Song Xia and Su Dan sat on the chairs behind the counter, both smiling as they looked around the store.
Three days after the last meeting, all Coffee Shop locations had received their pastry shipments. Several pastry chefs had also arrived to provide basic training at each store.
The training was simple.
Most of the pastries delivered were either semi-finished or fully ready-made.
All the staff needed to do was perform some light processing—like heating them up or adding some fruit garnishes—and they were good to go.
So within two days, the staff at each Coffee Shop had already mastered the basics of pastry preparation.
Now, it was the fifth day since the reform had been implemented.
With the addition of pastries and the launch of the coffee-and-pastry combos, plus the display boards placed at each store’s entrance detailing the pricing and options, things were playing out just as they had expected.
Customer traffic had already started to pick up over the past few days.
Especially in the mornings and at lunchtime, many people were coming in specifically to buy the Pastry Combo.
Ding-ling.
The door of the Coffee Shop opened, and a young couple walked in.
After helping the girl choose a seat, the guy came up to the counter and asked about the combos listed on the display board. In the end, he ordered two of the 59.8 yuan Pastry Combos.
This 59.8 combo was the most affordable option available.
It included a 50 yuan Americano and two pastries.
Over the past few days, most customers who ordered combos had gone for this one.
Before long,
A staff member brought the two combos to the couple’s table.
Su Dan had been watching them ever since they walked in. When the staff delivered the order, she saw the guy reach out to take a bite, only to be stopped by the girl.
The girl picked up her phone and took a few photos of the coffee and pastries on the table. Then she snapped a couple of selfies.
Whether the guy made it into the pictures or not was anyone’s guess.
After the photos were done, the guy started sipping his coffee, while the girl was still fiddling with her phone.
“She’s probably posting it to her Moments feed.”
Song Xia spoke slowly. Ever since that couple walked in, she had been paying attention.
Based on the girl’s series of actions just now, she was certain the girl was posting on her social media. Even if it wasn’t specifically Moments, it was something similar.
“Mm, that’s a good sign.”
Su Dan nodded slightly at her words.
If that girl was posting about it, then at least within her social circle, Nanhe Coffee held a decent status.
As long as this effect continued, drinking Nanhe Coffee could become something worth posting about online.
Just like Starbucks back in the day—many people didn’t go there just for the coffee. A lot of them went to buy Starbucks just so they could post about it.
That kind of behavior subtly elevated Starbucks’ image.
If Nanhe Coffee could eventually reach that same level of popularity—where people flocked to it not for the coffee, but just to make a post about it—then the brand’s reputation would truly take off.
And that would also be the turning point for Nanhe Coffee to start turning a profit.
By then, even if Nanhe Coffee was a bit more expensive, plenty of people would still come to buy it.
Because at that point, it wouldn’t just be about the taste of the coffee anymore. It would be more about showcasing a certain lifestyle.
To put it bluntly,
Drinking Nanhe Coffee would become something worth showing off.
“Exactly.”
Song Xia nodded in agreement.
Ever since Nanhe Coffee underwent its reform, she had been keeping a close eye on things. And not just on the flagship store.
She was also watching the other branches in Jiang City, as well as the ones in Beijing.
So far, the feedback had been overwhelmingly positive. Especially the stores located near office buildings—their sales had been climbing rapidly over the past few days.
Of course, the fastest growth was coming from the branches in Beijing.
