Chapter 647: Black Sea Region

“Why do I feel like I’ve been tied to this car for the entire graduation trip?”

Ayla didn’t resist. She looked out the window, where a massive shadow surged down from above.

It was a vast swarm of deep-sea creatures, including many enormous ones. Among them were densely packed smaller deep-sea creatures.

These bizarre, twisted deep-sea beings surged toward them in waves, as if intent on burying them alive.

“Well, sometimes trips are just like this.”

Lin Ye had once taken a slow, green-painted train that took hours to reach its destination. That feeling had been absolutely awful.

“Is this really okay? With this many deep-sea creatures, they could crush us just by piling on, right? Shouldn’t we move further inside?”

If the Massive Tendril Monster took heavy damage, they might have to face this lethal deep-sea environment head-on. Ayla really didn’t want to be squashed into a pulp.

“No need. If numbers were all that mattered, the world would be way too simple.”

The power to speak always remained in the hands of the few, because blind numbers were utterly meaningless.

Those deep-sea creatures had already intruded into the Parasitism Network. The only reason they were still moving normally was because Lin Ye needed them alive.

Eye-catching vortices appeared in every corner of the Parasitism Network. As soon as those vortices formed, the small deep-sea creatures exploded simultaneously. Their flesh and blood cut through the bodies of the large deep-sea creatures like sharp blades.

The large deep-sea creatures tried to fight back, but both their bodies and minds had been compromised. It wasn’t fatal—if they hadn’t been inside the Parasitism Network.

Countless parasitic organisms tore through their epidermis, burrowing into their bodies. Under the influence of the Parasitism Network, they ignored these parasitic nodes and blindly continued charging at the Massive Tendril Monster.

Lin Ye controlled the Massive Tendril Monster to start moving. He continuously used Red Flash to dodge the approaching giant deep-sea creatures, but he didn’t attack. Too many Human Faces had already gathered near those vortices.

If he got entangled by that many Human Faces, even Lin Ye would have a hard time breaking free.

The enemy wanted to drown them with those Human Faces, but as long as they stayed inside the Parasitism Network, those faces couldn’t touch the Massive Tendril Monster.

About twenty minutes later, the giant deep-sea creatures were finally dead. By now, the surrounding area was filled with Human Face vortices. Lin Ye carefully sensed their condition and could roughly guess what the enemy was planning.

“Sorry, but this graduation trip might have to end. I’ll send you away from here.”

Lin Ye glanced at Ayla, but just as he was about to unseal the Abyssal Eye, he suddenly spotted an Abyssal creature that looked very much like a Human Face. That creature was staring in Ayla’s direction.

“Okay, wait, no! Don’t send me away!”

Ayla felt an incredibly ominous sensation.

“This is a bit troublesome.”

Under Lin Ye’s observation, spatial fluctuations suddenly erupted near those Human Face vortices. Each face released only a trace of spatial fluctuation, but there were at least tens of thousands of faces here.

Those spatial fluctuations triggered a teleportation effect, covering the entire region.

Given the Organizers’ proficiency with space, Lin Ye had already placed the two baskets and the fishing rod elsewhere. He had also considered that those Human Faces might become mediums for spatial teleportation, which was why he refused to get close to them.

Even the possibility of the entire area being teleported was within his calculations. He just hadn’t expected that right when he was about to send Ayla away, he’d run into a troublesome Abyssal creature.

To send Ayla away, he had to use the power of the Falling Rule Fragment to transport her to the Surface Layer of the Abyss. But with that Abyssal creature watching, the process could easily go wrong.

Fortunately, he had prepared a backup plan for unexpected situations.

The spatial teleportation ended quickly. Lin Ye paused for only an instant before using his Special Ability.

Deep Sea.

In the next instant, Lin Ye adapted to this deep-sea environment.

They had been teleported into some kind of corrosive black liquid. The moment the liquid touched the Massive Tendril Monster’s body, large black patches appeared on its surface.

Using the xenomorph body’s structure as a reference, Lin Ye modified the Massive Tendril Monster as fast as he could. The black patches were spreading rapidly inside the monster’s body. If he couldn’t complete this modification quickly, Ayla was dead.

“…It’s so dark out there. Am I about to die?”

Ayla climbed up from the ground. The tendrils that served as seat belts were twitching uncontrollably, oozing black liquid.

“Don’t talk nonsense. Who do you think I am?”

Lin Ye wasn’t about to let a companion die during the trip.

“Haha, that’s actually reassuring.”

Black patches appeared on Ayla’s skin. Just as she thought this was really the end, the patches began to recede, and the tendrils regained their vitality.

“I thought you were just trying to comfort me.”

Ayla said with a smile.

“I don’t comfort people. If you were about to die, I’d tell you straight up: you’re going to die. And I could even give you the exact time of death.”

After handling Ayla’s issue, Lin Ye started rebuilding the Parasitism Network. The parasitic nodes had all been corroded by the liquid; they needed structural modifications to function again.

A massive shadow was approaching the Massive Tendril Monster. Lin Ye didn’t act hastily. Using the available parasitic nodes inside the monster, he created a mental barrier around them.

That enormous shadow grabbed one of the Massive Tendril Monster’s tendrils and began dragging it in a certain direction.

As Lin Ye repaired the Parasitism Network, he secretly used it to modify the shadow creature’s body structure. The other party didn’t seem to notice his subtle moves and just kept dragging the now-blackened Massive Tendril Monster forward.

“It’s so dark out there. Are we being dragged somewhere?”

Ayla lowered her voice to ask.

“Yeah. I want it to take us to the enemy’s base. Once we get there, it’ll be my turn to act.”

Lin Ye wasn’t the type to just take a beating without hitting back. He preferred to clean up his enemies completely—including their ancestral graves and their ashes.

“But I have a bad feeling about following it there.”

Ayla wasn’t sure if that feeling was right, since most problems that were lethal for her, Lin Ye could solve quickly.

“Oh, that probably means our intentions have been discovered. What’s ahead is likely some kind of trap.”

Lin Ye very decisively had the Massive Tendril Monster break free from the giant shadow’s grip and stopped parasitizing it.

If this was a trap, then letting Lin Ye parasitize that giant shadow might have been part of the setup.
