Chapter 449: Ready to Reveal the Truth
“Come on, Fifth Sister, aren’t we past this stage already?” Wang Haoran asked playfully when he saw Liu Yue putting on her usual serious act.
“You can call me that outside school, but in here, I’m Professor Liu,” Liu Yue replied sternly, her tone leaving no room for argument.
“Alright then, Professor Liu,” Wang Haoran said, raising an eyebrow. “Should I go back out and knock before coming in again?”
“No need,” Liu Yue waved her hand, not wanting to waste time on formality. She got straight to the point. “I know you’ve got issues with Lin Mo, but you already gave him enough trouble last time. From now on, don’t stir things up with him again. Got it?”
“You’re acting like a peacemaker now?” Wang Haoran chuckled.
“Be serious for once,” Liu Yue snapped. “Lin Mo will be teaching in your class this afternoon. If you really can’t stand being in the same room with him, I’ll allow you to skip it. That’s the most leniency I’m giving you.”
“Hold on. We had an agreement before,” Wang Haoran replied calmly. “I’m allowed to come and go as I please in your classes. Skipping is already within my rights, so you can’t exactly call it leniency.”
“So what, you’re saying you still plan to disrupt Lin Mo’s lecture?” Liu Yue frowned, clearly displeased.
There was no point hiding it. He and Lin Mo were destined to be enemies. No one can mediate between them, not even Liu Yue.
“Then let me make it clear,” Liu Yue said seriously, her expression firm. “As your fifth sister, your professor, and your future master’s wife, I’m ordering you not to disrupt that class. Do you hear me?”
Wang Haoran scratched his ear, pretending not to hear a word.
But his silence made everything clear.
He had no intention of listening.
“Wang Haoran!” Liu Yue slammed his name like a whip, her voice cold and angry. “I’ve already done everything I could to protect you. At least give me something in return. Lin Mo is my graduate student. You embarrassed him in class last time, and I helped cover it up for your sake. Don’t push your luck.”
“All I want is simple,” Wang Haoran said plainly. “Don’t let Lin Mo teach. That’s it.”
“That’s not happening!” Liu Yue’s tone was firm and final. “If I mentor a graduate student who can’t even qualify to teach, what does that say about me? I have to be responsible for my students’ futures. I won’t sabotage them just because of your personal grudge.”
“This is a matter of principle. Even if you bring seventh sister here, that won’t change.”
Her voice was full of unwavering conviction.
“What if I bring my master instead? Can we negotiate then?” Wang Haoran asked, half-teasing.
“Absolutely no—” Liu Yue began to snap back, but stopped herself just before finishing.
“You’re saying you can bring your master here?” she asked, clearly skeptical.
From her conversations with her “husband,” she knew he was extremely busy overseas and rarely had time for anything else.
Naturally, she doubted Wang Haoran could actually do it.
“Of course I can,” Wang Haoran nodded.
“And why should I believe you?” Liu Yue crossed her arms, still full of doubt.
“You’ll believe it once you see him in person,” Wang Haoran replied calmly.
Originally, Wang Haoran hadn’t planned to reveal the truth to Liu Yue this soon. His schedule was already chaotic, and if they met in real life, he’d have to spend even more time managing her.
He honestly didn’t want to deal with that just yet.
But Liu Yue kept pulling the ‘master’s wife’ card on him, and he was getting fed up. So he decided maybe it was time to lay everything out.
If he handles it well, he can take care of both problems at once—shutting down Lin Mo’s teaching opportunity and reining in Liu Yue.
Lin Mo was her student and teaching assistant. Liu Yue had the power to control his schedule and future.
As long as she obeyed him, Lin Mo would never get to teach that class.
Of course, if he was going to come clean, he needed to do it in the right place and with full preparation.
Liu Yue’s favorability was already at seventy, but that was toward his “Stock God” identity. If he revealed that persona was actually him, there was a risk her impression could drop.
If that happened, he wouldn’t just lose any potential benefits—he’d probably shoot himself in the foot.
After all, the situation around him was already complex enough.
“If you can really bring your master here, then we can talk about anything,” Liu Yue said, her stern expression softening.
Principles were important, sure—but not as important as her “husband.”
Their online relationship had been going on for some time now. She often found herself tossing and turning at night, thinking about him. She had long wanted to meet him in real life, but he always said he was too busy.
Now that the opportunity was finally here, Liu Yue was ready to grab it.
Besides, if Wang Haoran was bluffing, then she didn’t lose anything anyway. She wouldn’t compromise her principles until she sees her husband in person.
“No problem. But you know my master is abroad. Getting him back takes time. Until then, Lin Mo isn’t allowed to teach,” Wang Haoran said, making his demand clear.
“If you agree, I’ll figure out a way to bring him here. If not, forget the whole thing.”
“If you’re lying, you’re going to regret it!” Liu Yue glared at him.
You want me to regret it? You’ll be the one regretting it. Wang Haoran smirked internally, then turned and walked out, already planning how to set the meeting in motion.
—
Later that afternoon, Lin Mo excitedly returned to Liu Yue’s office.
“Professor Liu, you talked to Wang Haoran, right? So I can teach now, right?” he asked with anticipation.
“Let’s hold off on your lecture for a little while longer,” Liu Yue said seriously.
“What’s going on here?” Lin Mo’s face dropped. “You can’t even handle one student? Don’t tell me Wang Haoran promised you something in exchange for your support?”
From his point of view, it made no sense. Why would someone like Professor Liu, a respected figure on campus, be so willing to accommodate Wang Haoran?
Unless… she had been bribed?
“You’ve got some nerve, accusing me like that!” Liu Yue slammed her palm on the desk, feigning righteous anger to cover her guilty conscience.
Lin Mo flinched, realizing he had crossed a line. “I’m sorry, Professor Liu. That was out of line.”
He spoke out of frustration. Now that he had cooled down, it didn’t even make sense. Liu Yue was a financial genius with assets in the billions. Why would she need a student’s bribe?
Not to mention, her reputation on campus was spotless. Teachers and students alike praised her for her integrity.
Still, her attitude toward Wang Haoran remained a mystery.
“Professor Liu, I just want to understand. Please tell me how this is going to be resolved, so I know what to expect,” Lin Mo said sincerely.
“Once I meet with Wang Haoran’s elder, everything will be decided,” Liu Yue answered vaguely.
Her words gave Lin Mo just enough hope without being dishonest.
To be fair, Liu Yue was quite clever.
And Lin Mo thought he finally understood. During their conversation, Wang Haoran must have used his rich-kid status to argue with Liu Yue.
She probably decided to bypass him entirely and go straight to his guardian to solve the matter.
Once she meets with his family, Wang Haoran wouldn’t dare cause more trouble.
“Thank you, Professor Liu!” Lin Mo said gratefully.
Liu Yue, however, sat quietly, lost in her thoughts.
Her mind kept wandering to what it would be like to finally meet her “husband” in person. She imagined the moment vividly, especially the part where she could finally lay her hands on those perfectly sculpted eight-pack abs.
