Chapter 447: Trouble Comes Knocking

Chapter 447: Trouble Comes Knocking

Ever since Yun Churan’s so-called secret was exposed, she had been keeping to herself inside the mansion, rarely showing her face. But Wang Haoran wasn’t worried. Through Yun Xuan and Yu Ning, he had a clear grasp of Yun Churan’s movements.

His original plan was simple: wait until she returns to her sect, then ambush her while masked, knock her unconscious, and fake the scene of a miscarriage. That way, once she returns, she wouldn’t go looking for someone else to take responsibility. The matter would end quietly, and she’d have no reason to make noise.

He even thought through the possibility that she might go for a checkup while away from the Qingling campus. But Yun Churan was a martial cultivator—her body was much stronger than that of ordinary people.

A few days without symptoms wouldn’t push her to see a doctor. Besides, she was only eighteen. A girl that young going alone to a hospital for a pregnancy checkup? The moment she steps in, she’d be stared at like a scandal.

There was no way her pride would allow that.

And even if she did insist on getting checked, she would probably go to Bian Suwen. After all, Bian Suwen already knew about the situation, so Yun Churan wouldn’t have to worry about losing face.

That’s why Wang Haoran had never imagined she would uncover the truth through a physical exam.

But he overlooked one crucial flaw.

Now that things were unraveling, Wang Haoran had a gut feeling that the truth wasn’t going to stay buried. Still, he decided to try one last time to cover it up.

“So… you’re not pregnant? Then Little Immortal Doctor must have misdiagnosed you,” he said, pretending to be surprised.

Yun Churan’s cold gaze fixed on him, full of sharp accusation. “You said it yourself earlier. With her level of medical expertise, there’s no way she could have made a mistake. The only explanation is that she lied on purpose.”

She stepped closer, her voice turning sharper with every word. “You two were in it together from the start.”

“That day I followed Bian Suwen. She must’ve noticed. While I wasn’t paying attention, she disguised herself and drugged me. That would explain why her face looked so stiff—she must’ve been wearing a human-skin mask.”

“Once she knocked me out, you came in and… took advantage of me. Then you had the nerve to pin everything on Lu Chen.”

“Your goal was to get back at Yan Yuntian and Lu Chen. I was just collateral damage—a pawn you used.”

Her voice trembled with rage. As she spoke, her fingers clenched so tightly that the sound of bones grinding together could be heard.

Everything she guessed was nearly spot-on. The only mistake she made was assuming Bian Suwen was the one who drugged her. By all logic, she should’ve gone to confront Bian Suwen. But instead, she came looking for him first.

Clearly, she thought Wang Haoran was the easier target.

But she picked the wrong target.

“Calm down. Calm down, alright?” Wang Haoran quickly raised both hands in a placating gesture. “It’s not as bad as you think. You’re still clean.”

“What did you say?” Yun Churan’s face froze. Her fury paused for just a second, replaced by doubt. “But I clearly remember feeling…”

“That was just the effect of a special ointment. When applied to the skin, it causes irritation, redness, and discomfort—makes it feel like something happened, even when nothing did,” Wang Haoran explained smoothly.

“Are you serious?” There was a glimmer of hope in Yun Churan’s eyes.

“If you don’t believe me, go get checked. Though maybe don’t go to Bian Suwen. I doubt you’ll trust her now. Pick a woman you believe in. Let her do the exam.”

Yun Churan stared at him silently for several seconds. He didn’t seem like he was lying. A weight she carried for days suddenly lifted from her chest.

But almost immediately, a new problem came to mind.

“Who applied that ointment?” she asked.

“Of course, it was Bian Suwen. She staged the whole scene, too. You’ve already figured it out—she and I are close. You really think she’d just stand by and watch while I messed with you?”

Her logic clicked. If Bian Suwen truly cared about Wang Haoran, then she wouldn’t let him go too far with another woman.

Yun Churan finally began to relax, though she still looked annoyed.

“But the fact remains, you both used me. I can’t just let that slide,” she said coldly, glaring at him with a spark of defiance.

“There are a lot of people around. You might want to think twice,” Wang Haoran said calmly, nodding at the other students scattered across the grass.

“Then behave yourself, and I won’t make a scene,” Yun Churan replied with a quiet threat. “Take me to see Bian Suwen. Now.”

She only came to confront him first because she assumed he was easier to deal with. Once she gets him under control, she’ll force Bian Suwen to admit everything.

At least, that was her plan.

“I’m not going,” Wang Haoran said, shaking his head.

Bian Suwen didn’t know the full truth. If Yun Churan confronted her now, the entire plan would fall apart.

“That’s not up to you,” Yun Churan sneered, confident in her strength. She reached out to seal his acupuncture point and drag him along with her.

But the moment her hand moved, her expression changed dramatically. Her body froze in place—locked down by an invisible web of energy.

Yun Churan’s heart pounded with alarm.

What kind of terrifying force was this? Not even her father, the master of a top-tier hidden sect, possessed such power.

To be able to immobilize her so completely… this was someone stronger than her father.

She never imagined that someone like Wang Haoran would be guarded by a supreme expert.

Suddenly nervous, she shifted her eyes, scanning the surroundings in hopes of spotting the mysterious guardian.

But her body couldn’t move, and her line of sight was limited. She didn’t see anyone suspicious and could only assume the expert was hidden somewhere nearby.

Turning her eyes back to Wang Haoran, she softened her tone for the first time. “Forget it. I’ll let this go. Just… just have your protector release me.”

There was no way she could fight back. Even her father wouldn’t be able to defeat a hidden master like that.

Hearing her words, Wang Haoran blinked, then suddenly understood what she was thinking.

She had misunderstood everything.

“Too late to be scared now, isn’t it?” Wang Haoran grinned, not bothering to explain.

“What… what are you going to do?” Yun Churan’s face went pale.

He didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he thought for a few seconds, then asked, “After you return to your sect, what’s the plan? Are you going to find another force like Fengxi Sect and arrange another marriage?”

She looked down and let out a bitter laugh. “That’s always been my fate.”

Wang Haoran clicked his tongue in disbelief. What kind of messed-up brainwashing had she gone through? She really believed that nonsense about duty and arranged unions.

He kept the ridicule to himself and finally gave her a clear answer.

“Listen carefully. Once you’re back, cancel the engagement. No more matchmaking. The expert protecting me has taken a liking to you. If you don’t want your entire sect reduced to rubble, you’ll do as you’re told—and marry that expert.”
