Chapter 2096: Not A Problem.

After the fusion of man and divinity is complete, godclads would lose their minds and be unable to enjoy the power that they gained. But it will be too late to stop then. The divine flesh would be in complete control of their existence.

The danger of falling into temptation is common knowledge amongst godclads, but the allure of power is great, and the sweet taste of more power is greater.

So mutation caused succumbing to temptation is still an issue and it more common than death by backlash. The risk of falling into temptation only grows exponentially with each additional divine flesh that is assimilated. It doesn't ever reduce.

This problem of falling into temptation can become so serious that even a god can lose their mind and mutate. It is said that this happened to the god of killing.

According to the story widely circulated by the lamp bearers and the believers of the god of justice, the god of killing became mad and began to kill wantonly.

It is said that the god of killing roamed the earth, killing every living being it came across day and night. Many cities were wiped out. and tens of millions of people were killed. He didn't stop until the god of justice fought and killed him.

This can be corroborated by basic history. It can be confirmed that a lot of cities were destroyed and a lot of people were killed by a powerful being.

As for if that powerful being was the god of killing, that isn't easy to confirm. It doesn't help that most of the people who witnessed those events died. Even gods were not spared from the massacre. Many of them died until the god of justice came to the rescue.

So it can be said that the assimilation process between a human and a divine flesh is never over. It is a constant tug of war that has to be maintained, or it will lead to death.

The tug of war mustn't end, as winning it means a backlash and losing it means mutation. It is difficult for the tug of war to be maintained, and this difficulty increases the more powerful a godclad gets, but it must be maintained, and in exchange, the godclad will receive sanity, power, and the benefit of being alive.

As Legion lay on his bed there thinking about this universal problem plaguing godclads, he said, "It doesn't concern me, though."

The thing he is most unafraid of is the internal tug of war going on within him. In fact, the argument between the clones over who will gain control of the body is a more serious matter.

Thanks to his innate ability, he can't fall into temptation because the divine is not actively trying to make him give up control of his body anymore. The divine flesh thinks he has already completed the fusion with it because of his adaptation, so it won't try to sabotage him or turn against him through a backlash.

This is the main reason he doesn't care for the man's sincere warnings. There just isn't anything to be worried about regarding the assimilation of divine flesh.

The assimilation of divine flesh is a continuous process for others, but for him, it is a done deal. He has already become one with the divine flesh, which means that if he tries to assimilate other divine flesh, there won't be an increase in difficulty.

Thanks to adaptation, he can assimilate any divine flesh. There is no worry about the quantity and quality. As long as he has met the requirements for assimilation, he can be greedy all he wants.

As he lay there thinking about his situation, he became frustrated because he couldn't sleep. He had many consciousnesses in his mind, so he couldn't be mentally fatigued enough to feel sleepy.

This is a good thing in and of itself. It is something he has longed for ever since he became shackled in the human body, but in this situation being unable to sleep means that he can only waste his time pretending to be asleep. He hates wasting his time.

What he wants to do is go out to the vault of gold or to one of the black markets he has heard about to get the divine flesh of the undying, but he can't do any of that with the lamp bearer stalking him like a ghost.

Since he couldn't do that, the best he can do is practice his new skills. So he sat up from his bed and went to his backyard to test his strength.

His movement was heard by the lamp bearer. The man stood up from the chair he was sitting on and followed him to the backyard.

The man asked, "Where are you going? What do you want to do? Is it strenuous?"

Legion felt like growling. All of the four consciousnesses felt like doing so because they were truly frustrated.

Legion-1 thought to himself, "I guess nothing is truly free."

Legion-5, who was in control of the body, smiled and replied to the man, "I want to practice my skills."

The man was worried. He asked, "Are you sure that's a good idea? You should be relaxing now after the ordeal you just went through."

Legion refused to stop. He continued on his way as he said, "I can't sleep. I can only practice and hope to tire myself out so that I can sleep."

He had his mind made up about what to do. He wasn't asking the man for permission. If the man was still concerned about him, the best he could do was follow Legion and watch him practice.

Legion didn't like being followed around and watched, but he didn't mind it much because what he wanted to do was something he didn't care about being revealed to others.

In fact, it would be good for him if the man saw him using the path of killing. This way it will become established that the path of killing is his path.
