Chapter 923: 919: Defeating Monsters for Loot

Rubber tires scraped against gravel, emitting a pungent, burnt odor.

Two SUVs stopped urgently on the grassland, anxiously awaiting the result.

Guvas held his phone high, trying to connect to the invisible electromagnetic waves in the sky.

They had traveled a distance only to realize that the network was down; the live stream had frozen due to the lack of internet, and a greyscale loading circle spun ceaselessly on the screen, stuck at the moment where Bi Fang was about to clash in close combat with Ved.

Helplessly, Sisko had no choice but to halt their advance and even reversed a distance.

"Connected yet?"

"Don't rush, wait a bit, we might be in luck." Guvas disrupted Zhuomuke's urging and suddenly noticed the network speed twitch from 0 to over a hundred b, his expression thrilled.

The car quieted down, everyone barely daring to breathe, quietly awaiting the outcome to reveal itself.

After a few breaths, the stuttering image sprang back to life, yet what appeared before everyone was no longer the alternating light and shadows of the woods, nor was it the disconnected live stream but rather Bi Fang on the screen, donning a bulletproof stab-resistant vest.

The result of the battle went without saying.

Sisko loosened his grip on the steering wheel, pulled a pack of cigarettes from his breast pocket, tapped it with his index finger, drew one, and lit it; soon, smoke wreathed through the interior of the car.

Some of the other team members were also smoking, some chewed on beef jerky, and others blew bubble gum.

"Should we still go?"

Guvas asked Sisko, while queries from a team member came through the walkie-talkie.

Ved's fate was unknown, but even if he were alive, it was unlikely a big deal.

After all, he had professional training, and besides, Ved had family; it wasn't possible he would betray them.

As for that dentist, with only indirect contact, there wasn't much evidence left.

Sisko remained silent for a long time, while Chaman and Grace exchanged a glance beside him.

Grace suddenly spoke up, "That guy has a bag of diamonds on him, by conservative estimate, probably worth thirty million dollars."

Sisko's eyebrows rose.

"Really?"

On the other side, Bi Fang was panting heavily; although he wasn't injured in the fight, it had taken a heavy toll on his stamina—he stripped the bulletproof stab-resistant vest from the robust man's body, giving himself an equipment upgrade.

He hadn't forgotten what Old Barry had said—that the poachers numbered more than just three, and if that proved true, then another fierce battle might be ahead.

As a vest, the protection suit could be adjusted to some extent, but Ved's build was too large; even at its tightest setting, it still seemed quite loose on Bi Fang.

The protection suit was quite stiff and weighed roughly three to four kilograms, which alone would hinder movement, and the size issue only exacerbated that.

However, looking at the handgun on the ground, it was acceptable; the slight downsize in defense for a significant increase in protection was worth it.

This time Bi Fang had the element of surprise thanks to the intelligence advantage, but it wouldn't be so easy next time; the protection suit could save his life in a critical moment.

[666, beat the boss and looted equipment]

[Cheering for Master Fang]

[What's called 'badass'? This is called 'badass'!]

[An unassailable level of badass that others couldn't surpass in a lifetime; this is the world's number one jungler, not even talking about Bear (Username), even the armed thugs are shown for you!]

[Xianghan Boshanliang has become an Emperor in the live stream]

[Kanmeng01 gifted 1 Spaceship to the host—Master Fang is invincible under the heavens!]

[I always thought the scenarios in movies were fake, but I never imagined reality could be even more bizarre than fiction]

The fight on the screen had the audience enthralled, lavishing gifts without a second thought. Spaceships alone kept flooding in; they couldn't even see who sent them before the next wealthy viewer topped it, leaving the common folk marveling at just how many rich people there were in the world.

They wished they could be the one in the forest, replacing Master Fang to face off against the vicious poacher, rendering him utterly powerless with a combo of moves.

How fantastical, how cool that would be—the very epitome of manly deeds.

Of course, it was just a thought. If you were really in the arena, you'd end up like the guide beside you.

"HELP, HELP!"

The desperate screams jolted the audience back from their exhilarating fantasies to the harsh reality, as they remembered that besides the unconscious guide and the burly man, there was another guy who was still awake.

[Damn, I almost forgot about this old number six]

[I have to say, Old Fang's livestreams are the most extreme I've ever seen]

[Ever heard of imperial privileges? (tactically leans back)]

[Awesome, Old Fang is the most badass, the most positive world-class streamer I've seen]

[Money, skill, status, and the chance to experience different cultures around the world—I declare Old Fang is my dream lover!]

Bi Fang wasn't in a hurry to deal with that guy. First, he retrieved the handgun that had been used as a weapon earlier, a HK P30, quite renowned as the protagonist's favorite main weapon in the movie series "Fast Pursuit," though it was now out of bullets.

Luckily, Bi Fang found a brand-new magazine on Ved and had reloaded it. During the fight, his opponent hadn't had the time to reload, which played right into his hands.

After reloading, he found his backpack in the bushes and pulled out a rope, then tied up the burly man and the unconscious guide to a tree.

Even so, Bi Fang still didn't attend to the wailing Caucasian man.

Palmer was already soaked in sweat, his face completely pale, nearly collapsed on the ground. His palms had been nailed to the floor, but he lacked Ved's willpower to pull them out by sheer force.

As Bi Fang walked past, Palmer's voice was no longer as booming as it had been at the start, but weak and low instead.

"Help me, please, help me…"

"Don't worry; it's just a through-and-through wound in the palm, it didn't hit an artery, shouldn't be a big problem."

Bi Fang answered briefly and then stepped over him, walking several tens of meters to find the seriously injured Lion King, Cecil.

By this point, Cecil had stopped moving, and many viewers' hearts were in their throats as Bi Fang frowned deeply.

[Isn't he dead, is he?]

[Damn, were we too late?]

[Isn't it dangerous to get this close?]

[Son of a bitch, did those shitty guys really succeed?]

[Don't panic, panic won't help; trust in Master Fang, as long as he's not dead, I believe Master Fang will have a way]

Facing a fully wild Lion King, Bi Fang also dared not approach rashly. He could hunt the Lion King, but getting close was still very dangerous.

Thankfully, he had anticipated this situation and had made a lot more preparation than just the three short spears he had crafted on the way.

The audience saw Bi Fang reach into his pocket, pull out a stomach pouch, then open it and extract several dazzling pink flowers from it.

[What's that?]

[Eh, I remember, it looked like Old Fang picked them on the way]

[They look so pretty]

Bi Fang twirled one between his fingers.

The strong fragrance of the flowers spread through the woods.

"Hypnotic Flower."
