Chapter 2156: Three Ways |
Sylas' body flashed and in an instant, he appeared on Gogo's head.
"What do you think?" Sylas asked.
Gogo raised his head and roared in response. Space for over three kilometers froze and all the golden monkeys around them couldn't seem to move any longer.
"Are you sure?" Sylas asked.
Gogo's Will was draining quite fast. Based on his calculations, while it was possible to mitigate this a great deal with the Hibernation Halo, there was no guarantee it would work properly here.
It had to be remembered that his Profession was somewhat tied to the Heaven System. Thanks to the fact Sylas had broken free and created his own system, he could still use some of those abilities here.
But ultimately, he wasn't yet strong enough to take on the burden himself to 100% of the degree necessary. So, Gogo's Will usage would slow, but not substantially enough that they wouldn't be pushing themselves to the absolute limit if they tried to do this the hard way.
Gogo's only response was a pulsing wave of telekinesis.
All of the monkeys trapped in the radius of his original casting of King's Bind were ripped to shreds from the inside out.
Even the weakest of Wills had the utmost control over what happened inside of their own bodies. Even Sylas couldn't make someone explode from the inside out with his telekinesis alone.
A slight curl formed in Sylas' lip. It seemed that his senses for what Gogo was capable of were duller here as well. No wonder he kept surprising him.
Sylas nodded slowly.
He reached out a hand and his scythe slowly manifested in his palm, swirling in lines of dark gold Runes. Its blade formed in a sweeping instant, almost manifesting into the world like a streak of light passing across a window.
"Alright, then." Sylas said. "We'll do this the hard way."
Sylas slashed, an arc of black zooming into the distance and crashing against the city walls.
It split in two almost as though a reflective mirror were bouncing light across both sides, so smooth that the cut couldn't even be seen for a moment.
And then they crumbled.
On the other side, the monkey that had escaped and informed the others watched on with wide eyes. And then its maw opened, the calls of a shrieking monkey echoing through its blunted canines.
Sylas tossed his scythe into the air and it hovered behind him as he spread his arms out wide. His Will fused into Gogo's and for a moment, the duo felt like the skies themselves.
The Death Seal appeared high above them in swirling lines of dark gold.
The Life Seal appeared beneath them in complex, intricate lines of white gold.
Sylas' scythe began to spin, moving so fast it looked like a wheel in the air, the echoing pressure of Grimblade flooding into the surroundings.
Sylas had no need for an impotent system to help him summon the D-tier Seals…
He had long comprehended them himself.
All he needed was its push of energy to form them so quickly.
And now that he had it, they were going to go all out.
"Let's go." Sylas said coldly.
Gogo's maw opened, horns rising from his head as an ancient aura peeled out.
He roared, lines of grey, ashen flames swallowing the land below.
Everywhere it passed, life was sucked dry and beings that should have been infinitely more powerful found themselves turned to stone.
Sylas' palms clenched and the power Gogo pulled free began freely flowing around them. His eyes darted back and forth as though he was quickly comprehending, deducing, building, and then his gaze flashed.
His hands opened up and he slapped his palms together.
Churning clouds appeared above them. At first glance, they looked identical to any other cloud formation. But when one looked closely, it became clear and obvious that they were formed by an impossible number of tiny little Runes.
A boom of thunder cut across the skies.
Gogo had made it easy to comprehend the secrets of the bloodlines before them.
And now, Sylas had tweaked his Aether to better pierce their Wills.
His gaze flashed once more.
Lucent Dominion.
BOOM. BOOM. BOOM.
Streaking lines of jagged emerald cut down from the skies, leaving the city in a destructive wake of sparkling crystal.
The duo tore forward, rampaging a path through without regard for their stamina usage. .

The Prince sat silently on the edge of a building, looking out and observing the city. It had been a few hours since he arrived, and the situation was very odd.
All he saw around him were an endless number of golden monkeys. As far as he could tell, they were the only beings in the entire city. And yet, they didn't even flinch when a Demon like him arrived. They didn't treat him any differently from the others.
At first, he thought they were his enemy, especially when the first troop came out. But they had only wanted the blood that had been floating there.
The Prince didn't know where that blood came from, but it was definitely powerful, and it burned like a Blazara's. It made him wonder if something had changed about the Split Realm, something they hadn't accounted for.
'It doesn't matter. The end result will be the same.'
There was an undying confidence in his eyes as he looked up at the palace that sat perched on top of everything. That was clearly the goal they had to make it to, but the question was how.
He had already found three methods.
The first was an offering. To bring something powerful enough for the gods to allow him in. Usually, that offering had to come from the surface. So you would have to climb all the way down the tree, and then all the way back up.
The second was to become a monk. To join one of the monasteries, work your way up, and eventually be promoted to the palace.
The third, and the most direct way, was to climb and cut down anyone that stopped you.
A cold light sparkled in the Prince's eyes.
