Chapter 552: Fifth Wife, Bonded Blessing System Upgrade |
Alice kept patting Selene’s back in slow, steady motions. She waited until her sister’s breathing evened out and the tears slowed before she spoke again.
"Do you understand what I said?"
Selene nodded slowly, her head still resting against Alice’s shoulder. The words had sunk in, but they left a heavy feeling in her chest that she could not quite shake.
"I will protect him, so you don’t need to worry. Also, tell him about the Quest," Alice said.
Selene nodded once more, though this time the motion came with clear hesitation. The thought of explaining to Isaac that she might become dangerous to him someday made her stomach twist. What if he looked at her differently afterward and decided he could not stay by her side?
Alice watched her sister’s face and read the worry there without needing any explanation. She chose not to press the issue further. Isaac would know how to handle the rest from here, and Alice trusted him completely with Selene’s heart.
"I’ll send Isaac in," Alice said. She stood up and smoothed her clothes before heading to the door. When she stepped outside, she found Isaac waiting just a short distance away in the hallway.
"Were you listening?" Alice asked him directly.
"No. The rooms here have good soundproofing. I wouldn’t hear anything unless I really tried. And it looked like Selene wanted to talk about something private, so I didn’t eavesdrop," Isaac replied.
She reached up to straighten his collar, making sure he looked neat and presentable. In that moment, a mix of happiness for her sister and a lingering selfish feeling rose inside her. After all, she was still a dragon at heart.
Her hands lingered on his collar. Then she pulled him down toward her. Their lips met in a soft, warm kiss that lasted only a few seconds. Alice pulled back, opened the door, and gave him a gentle push into the room.
"Go."
Isaac stumbled forward in surprise, caught off guard by her sudden action. Before he could turn around to ask what that had been about, the door clicked shut behind him. Inside the room, his attention shifted at once when he heard the soft sounds of crying.
"Selene?" Isaac rushed over to her right away. "What happened?"
Selene shook her head at first, but the tears only came faster. It felt like she had been holding everything in, waiting for him to be the one to comfort her. Isaac sat down beside her and wiped the tears from her cheeks with his thumbs. He cradled her face gently in his hands, feeling the softness of her skin.
"Won’t you tell me what is happening?" he asked, his voice steady and patient.
Selene hesitated for a long moment. Part of her wanted to keep it hidden, but she knew she could not do that anymore. She told him everything, from her fears about the past memories to the possibility that she might hurt him one day.
After listening carefully, Isaac spoke in a calm tone. "There is no need for you to worry. Even if you regain your past life memories, I won’t let my Selene disappear. As for me, don’t you know I’m strong?"
He flexed his arm with a small grin, trying to lighten the mood.
Even through her tears, Selene let out a soft chuckle at how absurd the gesture looked. It helped ease some of the tension in her chest. Isaac always had a way of making things feel less overwhelming.
"Also, even if you somehow manage to kill me, Alice can revive me," he added.
Selene blinked in surprise. Those words were exactly what Alice had said earlier. It struck her how much the two of them thought alike in situations like this. She managed a small smile as Isaac continued to brush away the last of her tears.
"You are worrying too much, honestly. There is Alice’s revival. Then Emily can use her artifact on my spirit if Alice fails. If even that fails, Emily can use her Lord Talent to revive me. There are countless ways for me to survive," Isaac said while pulling her into a hug.
Selene shook her head against his chest.
"Don’t say those words. Can’t you say you won’t die?" she asked, her voice carrying a half-complaining note.
"Well, isn’t that obvious? I don’t think you are strong enough to kill me," he replied with a smirk.
"I have the Elemental Spirit of Machines," Selene said, pouting a little as she played along with the light banter.
"The contract with the Spirit is only for defense. It can’t come out unless I attack you," Isaac explained.
Selene’s eyes widened. She had not realized that detail before. It took some of the weight off her shoulders, though the worry still lingered in the background.
Before she could respond, Isaac lowered his face so their eyes met directly.
"I promise I won’t let you kill me, nor allow your previous memories to overpower the Selene I love," he said.
Her cheeks flushed with warmth. She still struggled to handle it when he spoke so openly like that. Her heart beat faster, but this time she did not look away. Isaac had shown so much courage by confessing his feelings again and again. It would not be fair to keep avoiding her own.
She looked into his sincere eyes, seeing the care and affection there that made her heart flutter. In the next moment, Selene let her feelings guide her without overthinking. She closed her eyes, tilted her head up, and pressed a quick, gentle kiss to his lips.

He could sense that major changes had taken place within the System. Still, he closed the windows right away and turned his full attention back to Selene. She was blushing deeply and could not meet his eyes.
Her gaze kept darting around the room. This had been their first real kiss, and she was the one who started it. The embarrassment made her wish she could disappear.
Isaac thought she looked incredibly cute like that.
He leaned in closer and whispered near her ear. "Didn’t you want me to teach you how to kiss after you saw me and Alice kissing? Do you still want to learn?"
His warm breath brushed against her skin and sent a shiver down her spine. She remembered asking him that before, and now it felt like such a silly thing to have requested. Even a kid could tell what she had been trying to do.
’We will kiss like that?’
Closely stuck bodies, exchanging breath and saliva, melting into each other?
Just thinking about it made shivers run down her whole body.
She tried to run away instinctively but Isaac held her firmly. They ended up falling onto the bed together with Isaac positioned above her. Selene tried to cover her face with her hands out of nervousness. He gently caught her wrists with one hand and pinned them above her head.
Her breathing changed at once. This was the first time he had been so direct with her, and it left her feeling a strange mix of emotions. Even though part of her wanted to pull away, another part liked the way he was taking control.
"Do you want to practice? You can get some hands-on experience this time," Isaac asked in a low voice.
The words sent sparks through her mind. Selene couldn’t understand what was happening. Was just talking and teasing supposed to feel so good?
She swallowed hard, closed her eyes tightly, and gave a hesitant nod.
Nothing happened at first while she waited with her eyes shut. Just when she started to open them, his lips met hers. The timing surprised her completely. But it didn’t stop there. Isaac sucked her lips gently, then his tongue parted her lips and touched her own.
Selene’s back arched in response and her toes curled. Isaac kept kissing her with increasing intensity. The pleasure turned Selene’s mind into a mush and her body became soft like jelly as if she had no bones. She was melting in his arms from pleasure. The act was indecent. Yet her tongue reciprocated Isaac’s tongue shamelessly. She felt like a slut trying to seduce a man. It was so immoral, and indecent.
Selene liked doing that with Isaac.
When he finally released her wrists, her hands moved on their own and threaded through his hair to keep him close. Isaac pulled back for a moment to catch his breath. Selene opened her eyes, breathing heavily, with a thin string of saliva still connecting them.
She looked at him with hazy eyes full of lust and love. The mix of innocence and openness in her expression made it hard for Isaac to hold back. Her flushed cheeks, slightly open collar, and the way she gazed at him felt inviting.
She looked innocent, yet that harmless girl opening up her defenses make her look so seductive that Isaac could barely control himself.
Selene probably did not realize how she was seducing him because she lifted herself a little and licked away the string of saliva between them. It was as if she did not want to let go of any part of him.
That small action broke whatever restraint Isaac had left. He had planned to stop there, but instead he leaned in again. He kissed her lips deeply, then moved to her chin, her ears, and the side of her neck.
Selene gave him full access without resistance. His hand rested on her waist at first and then slowly slid upward. It cupped her breast gently over her clothes.
Her breath hitched at the new contact. The sensation spread through her body and made her press closer to him without thinking. Isaac continued to kiss along her neck while his touch remained careful but firm.
She felt overwhelmed in the best way possible. Everything was happening so quickly, yet she did not want it to end. Her fingers stayed tangled in his hair as she tried to steady herself.
Isaac paused briefly to look at her face. He wanted to make sure she was comfortable with how far things were going. Selene met his gaze for a second before looking away again, still blushing.
