Chapter 2895: This Is Destiny

Everyone heard every word of Su Yi’s conversation with the man in blood-red robes, but they were completely baffled.

River Ancestor Shen Xiao, in particular, was completely frantic. He was locked in continuous combat with the Tribulation Spirits, and his wounds were piling up. He wouldn’t last much longer.

“Is there anything else you’d like to discuss? If so, go right ahead and ask,” the man in red said with a laugh. “I’ve waited for countless years, and I’m not pressed for time. I’m more than patient enough to keep chatting.”

River Ancestor Shen Xiao’s expression darkened. If you carry on like this, I’ll be the first one to suffer!

But just as he was about to remind Su Yi of his predicament, Su Yi shook his head. “There’s no longer any need for that.”

River Ancestor Shen Xiao inwardly sighed in relief, his heart suddenly full of eagerness. The man in red clearly takes my ‘dear younger brother’ seriously. Perhaps there really is more to him than meets the eye!

Against all expectations, the man in red actually looked eager. “Then show me how a Divine Wandering Realm cultivator like you managed to earn the recognition of the Book of Destiny!”

The Book of Destiny!? Everyone was gobsmacked. Their expressions filled with disbelief.

Su Yi waved his sleeve, no longer bothering to hide the Book of Destiny’s aura. The long-suppressed book shot forth, like a hungry ghost that had been starving for eons.

Before anyone could get a close look at it, heaven and earth shook. A streak of the dazzling power of Destiny’s Wrath shot forth, illuminating all of creation.

The entire blood-red world lit up, suddenly as bright as the midday sun. Its sheer radiance stung the eyes.

The Tribulation Spirits, relentlessly attacking River Ancestor Shen Xiao, froze mid-charge as the dazzling radiance enveloped them. Their eyes filled with despair, and they struggled like mad.

But it was to no avail; when the light touched them, it eradicated them instantaneously.

River Ancestor Shen Xiao was overcome with horror. When he looked over, he saw a tidal wave of mysterious light sweeping outward. Wherever it went, it swallowed up the remaining Tribulation Spirits.

In the end, that mysterious light shot into the cage, which instantly disintegrated, devoured by that vast, endless radiance.

Boom!

The cage dissipated, and the mysterious radiance receded like waters at low tide. All of it gathered in Su Yi’s right hand.

A yellowed tome rested in his palm, glowing with intense light. It was like a bottomless abyss devouring all of the receding, mysterious radiance.

Silence descended over the group; all of them were too astonished to speak. All Su Yi’s companions could think was, That really is the Book of Destiny!

The Book of Destiny was a supreme, mysterious treasure. Rumor had it that it was born of the River of Destiny, and whoever controlled it was chosen by destiny. They could determine life and death with a single word!

No one subject to the fetters of destiny could escape the judgment of Destiny’s Chosen!

Is that really the Book of Destiny? Wang Zhiwu’s heart shook. After all, the Book of Destiny was a treasure thought to exist only in rumors. Countless years had passed, but almost no one had ever laid eyes on it.

Unlike Wang Zhiwu, the river denizens were incomparably certain that that was indeed the Book of Destiny!

Its mysterious aura filled their hearts with instinctual awe and dread.

Their true names were their foundations in the Grand Dao, as well as the foundations of their life force, but now, their true names quivered like ministers before a ruler!

Even River Ancestor Shen Xiao, a being comparable to a Heavenly Sovereign, couldn’t help but gasp. His expression shifted erratically. That really is the Book of Destiny! I’m sure of it! That long-lost, unsurpassed treasure has now appeared before me… in the hands of my ‘dear younger brother!’

The man in red quietly watched this all play out, never once intervening. His gaze was focused on the Book of Destiny, a complicated look on his face.

When he first learned that the Book of Destiny had chosen a Divine Wandering Realm sword cultivator, he couldn’t believe it.

Only now did he dare to accept the truth.

Perhaps this was one of the mysteries of destiny. Destiny had always been unpredictable.

“Wondrous. Truly wondrous. It really is the most mystical treasure of the River of Destiny,” the man in red said with a deep sigh.

A moment later, his expression filled with pity. “It’s a pity, but you’ve yet to truly master all of its secrets.”

Su Yi didn’t deny it. “You’re right.”

The man in red robes frowned slightly, then laughed. “At least you’re honest. Do you realize that the primary culprit behind the tribulation you now face is actually the Book of Destiny?”

“You’re right again,” Su Yi said with a nod.

Everyone felt strange. Isn’t Su Yi being a bit too honest? He isn’t hiding anything at all.

However, perhaps because Su Yi was so honest, the man in red seemed a bit flustered and uncertain. He stood there in a bit of a daze for a while before finally responding. “Do you think you’re worthy of possessing the Book of Destiny?”

“We’ll just have to see,” said Su Yi.

The man in red broke into a smile rife with implied meaning. “Let’s test it, then!”

Before his voice had even finished echoing through the air, he stretched languidly and strode toward Su Yi.

Whoosh!

Countless shattered beams of murky gray tribulation light swept forth like the tide. The blood-red skies dimmed, the whole world suddenly overcast. Black tribulation clouds surged forth, silently filling the dome of heaven.

Heaven and earth shook as a terrifying, calamitous aura rose, like a long-dormant volcano erupting after a long slumber.

River Ancestor Shen Xiao’s heart shook, his expression shifting dramatically.

The man in blood-red robes was hundreds, no, thousands of times stronger than the Tribulation Spirits! Facing him was like facing a tribulation head-on!

Not just any tribulation, either. A Tribulation of Destiny!

He was terrifying beyond imagination.

River Ancestor Shen Xiao didn’t hesitate to lead the others to safety. He retreated explosively, trying to create as much distance as he could.

But before long, he discovered that there was nowhere to run and nowhere to hide; the calamitous aura of an impending tribulation filled every last nook and cranny.

It was omnipresent!

River Ancestor Shen Xiao felt a sharp pain between his eyes. His heart quivered, and he felt a powerful sense of impending crisis. This was a true life-or-death tribulation!

Even he, a mighty River Ancestor, felt the danger. Naturally, the others did too.

Wang Zhiwu’s Dao Heart quivered, and his hair stood on end. He tightly gripped the Book of Legends, the depths of his heart overflowing with despair. Irrepressible terror coursed through him.

River Empress Lu Ping and River Emperor Winged Dragon had it even worse. All of the blood drained from their faces, and their Dao Hearts were on the brink of collapse.

All of this was the result of the red-robed man’s aura alone. They couldn’t even imagine how terrifying he’d be when he attacked for real.

Su Yi remained in place, his heart shining with endless radiance as he activated the Spirit Platform Chapter with all his might. His secret power of the heart blazed like the sun, illuminating his internal sea.

He didn’t move. He just used the power of his heart to open the Book of Destiny and reveal its first page.

The Book of Destiny rose, and chaos-like mist surged forth like billowing fog, manifesting a mysterious ruin.

There was no need for Su Yi to do anything. When the Book of Destiny sensed the calamitous aura blanketing the landscape, it seemed agitated and excited. A beam of light shot out of its pages.

Boom!

The dense tribulation clouds split, producing a downpour of tribulation light.

That beam of light was far too mysterious and inscrutable. As it spread, it devoured all of the gray tribulation light down to the last drop.

It was as if the sun had risen, devouring and replacing the darkness of the night.

But just as the beam of light was about to reach the man in red, he smiled, formed a hand seal, and boomed in a voice like spring thunder, “Restrict!”

The beam froze in midair, unable to advance any further.

The Book of Destiny quivered, suddenly under terrifying suppression.

Su Yi’s eyebrows rose. He hadn’t anticipated that the man in red would be able to use his mastery of the Tribulations of Destiny to suppress the Book of Destiny’s power of Divine Wrath.

“This is Destiny’s Wrath, like the punishment of destiny, presiding over the life and death of all beings under destiny’s thrall. It’s indeed too wondrous for words,” said the man in red, his gaze heated as he reached for the light.

He took the frozen beam in hand, then devoured it.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

A series of rapid-fire explosions rang out within the red-robed man’s body, as if it were being sliced to ribbons. The damage was obviously severe.

Nonetheless, he looked thrilled. “This really is the purest, most primeval power of Destiny’s Wrath. It’s been far, far too long since I’ve tasted it…”

His voice was tinged with reminiscence.

Unbelievably, the red-robed man’s countless wounds knit back together in the blink of an eye.

He then flashed Su Yi a heartfelt, radiant smile. “So, you’ve only managed to open the first page of the Book of Destiny! In that case, I really won’t hold back!”

Boom!

His blood-red robes billowed around them as he took a step forward, then shot toward Su Yi like a bolt of crimson electricity.

River Ancestor Shen Xiao, Wang Zhiwu, and the others’ hearts were instantly on tenterhooks.

Su Yi remained in place, not moving a muscle save to raise the Book of Destiny above his head.

It was as if he were holding up a torch to illuminate the ancient darkness. The book was now the only source of light against an endless black backdrop.

Su Yi’s heart power surged forth like the tide under the guidance of the Spirit Platform Chapter. He was pouring everything he had into the Book of Destiny.

The Divine Punishment Destiny Ruin on the first page of the Book of Destiny came into focus. It was as if it were truly entering the world; it was endlessly vast and deep beyond measure. Its depths were full of countless chains that intertwined to form countless cages.

When the man in red charged over, the terrifying tribulation light emanating from him melted, like a clay ox dissolving into the ocean. The Divine Punishment Destiny Ruin absorbed it all.

But the man in red didn’t panic. On the contrary, he threw back his head and laughed. “Unfortunately for you, you’ve yet to open the second page of the Book of Destiny. If you had, I’d have fled by now!”

Boom!

Shockingly, he stretched out his hand and reached for the Book of Destiny.

The Divine Punishment Destiny Ruin emanated terrifying power, yet it shook beneath the red-robed man’s hand!

The entire Book of Destiny shook violently.

Su Yi’s brow furrowed. There was no getting around it; the red-robed man was far more terrifying than he could have imagined, let alone predicted.

It was no wonder River Empress Peacock risked a backlash to warn him to leave as soon as possible.

The reality proved that the man in red knew that he had the Book of Destiny, and moreover, that he had the ability to contend with it!

The Book of Destiny swayed, and the power of Destiny’s Wrath surged forth, but it couldn’t block the red-robed man’s hand.

“I’ve waited countless years for this opportunity, but I’ve finally seized it. This is destiny! And I am the true master of heavenly fate!”

The red-robed man threw back his head and laughed, delight written all over his face.

It was also then that his hands closed on the Book of Destiny!
