Chapter 284: Magic of Precognition

Creating matter with Mana, using a sword, disguising as a human little girl, Demon Race... These all matched the monster Bai Mu encountered yesterday. But "predetermined events"... The way he said it, it was almost as if he could predict the future.

Regardless, from the mouth of this Southern Hero, Bai Mu learned one thing: he had appeared here to crusade against that kind of monster called the Demon Race.

And he had already killed several demons. According to his meaning, there was only one fish that slipped through the net among these demons that he hadn't found yet. The reason was that Bai Mu had killed that guy before he could.

Bai Mu had nothing to hide regarding this matter.

"Lord Hero, if you are speaking of such a character, then I indeed encountered her in another abandoned village yesterday. Because she wanted to attack me, I made a move and killed her."

"I was wondering why there were traces of human activity in the village. As expected, it was your doing. Then that burst of Mana was left behind when she died; that makes sense."

The Southern Hero rubbed his chin, looking thoughtful.

"Then, please allow me to ask another question, sir. What is your purpose for coming here? This is already a remote area of the Northern Plateau. Aside from the people who originally live here, there shouldn't be anyone who would want to come to such a dangerous and barren place."

"If I said I got lost, would Lord Hero be willing to believe it?" Bai Mu said.

"Is that so? Got lost?" The Southern Hero said. "Where was your original destination?"

"If you mean a destination with a specific name, there is no such thing," Bai Mu said. "I just wanted to find a safe town to rest my feet, but... it seems this area is very unsettled."

"Unsettled..." The Southern Hero's eyes swept across the dead silent village behind him. "But within the Northern Plateau, this is already considered a relatively peaceful area. After all, this is not yet the war zone where the Demon King's Army and the human nations are fighting."

"War zone? There's a war outside?" Bai Mu asked.

"You clearly walked here alone, yet you seem to know nothing about the surrounding situation," the Southern Hero said. "If you don't mind, how about having a cup of tea together? Since that Demon Race has already been slain by you, this area should usher in a bit of peace next. I think we still have the time for a cup of tea."

The Southern Hero extended his hand in an inviting gesture. Looking at where he stood, he didn't look like he would let Bai Mu leave. He still completely blocked the path in front of Bai Mu; he probably still regarded Bai Mu as a suspicious person who needed observation.

Towards this, Bai Mu accepted it with a peaceful state of mind.

Being able to meet such a hero was actually a good thing for Bai Mu. This Lord Hero, at a glance, clearly knew the surrounding situation like the back of his hand. He was very strong, and looked like a very upright, good person. Bai Mu felt he could relatively easily get some maps from him and understand the basic common sense of this world. This would be very beneficial for Bai Mu in determining his next course of action.

"Then, excuse me for disturbing," Bai Mu said.

"Please come in," the Southern Hero pushed open the church doors and smiled.

Bai Mu and the Witch followed behind him and arrived near the corner of the wall. With a snap of the Hero's fingers, the charcoal on the ground ignited, radiating a red heat wave like breathing. Then the Hero picked up the canteen, placed it on the small stove, took out a small pouch, and threw a handful of tea leaves into the canteen.

"Black tea from my hometown," the Southern Hero said. "Although it's not anything precious, I personally like this flavor very much. This... lady, does she drink tea?"

"She doesn't drink tea," Bai Mu said. "She doesn't need ordinary food and water."

"Is that so." The Southern Hero retracted his gaze. "Then please keep her under your control."

The Witch still stared at this Hero vigilantly, but the Hero seemed completely unbothered, or perhaps he entirely disregarded the Witch. He busied himself taking out tea sets and bringing over a stool and table.

This scene was truly strange enough. Clearly, in the very center of the church, dozens of cold, pale corpses were lying there, yet they seemed like old friends brewing tea by the charcoal fire.

"The nearest town where you can rest is about a three-day walk from here," the Southern Hero said. "However, starting tomorrow morning, the blizzard will come again. I suggest you wait a while before setting off. Once this blizzard passes, the next ten days will be sunny."

"I wanted to ask just now, Lord Hero. Could it be that you can predict the future?" Bai Mu asked.

"It seems you truly know nothing about me," the Southern Hero said. "This is not a secret. Whether it's the Demon King's Army or the human nations, everyone knows my magic is Precognition. The reason I came here is because I foresaw in advance that a group of Demon Race acting independently would appear."

"If I didn't step forward to stop them, then approximately ten thousand people would be killed by them. So I came. According to the predetermined plan, this morning, I was supposed to slay the final Demon Race. But strangely, you appeared."

"In the future I foresaw, there was not a single image related to you. This is the first time ever that my magic has had such a huge deviation."

"However, I understand now. It wasn't my magic that had a problem; the problem is you. It seems that when things involve you, the magic of precognition loses its effect. But I did see that the future will follow the predetermined trajectory, and nearly ten thousand people will be saved. The only difference is that the person who killed that final Demon Race wasn't me, but you."

The Southern Hero calmly picked up the heated teapot and poured tea into the cups. Thick steam rose along the rim of the cup, blurring the line of sight between him and Bai Mu.

Bai Mu couldn't help but be stunned upon hearing this. He didn't expect there to actually be a magic that predicted the future. If this kind of skill were placed in the Paradise, he didn't know what grade it would be rated. Even if it could only see minor glimpses, it would have to be a Perfect grade skill.

And the Southern Hero's precognition seemed to not just be fragments. It could even be precise down to the weather, the enemy's appearance location, and even the enemy's abilities and appearance could be clearly seen. Just thinking about it was scary. You clearly didn't know this person and had never met him, yet he knew perfectly well how many times you would go to the toilet tomorrow and where you would eat.

In his heart, Bai Mu once again raised the Southern Hero's danger level by several grades. With such an abnormal guy, it was best to be his friend and not his enemy.
