Chapter 240: Farming Experience

[Secret Sword Art Experience +1]

[Secret Sword Art Experience +1]

The notification chimed repeatedly in Bai Mu's ears.

The mob besieging Mighty Dave was completely oblivious to the man in the small suit and iron bucket helmet backstabbing them.

Up ahead, Mighty Dave grabbed a lunging Conehead Zombie and hurled it away like a trash bag, sending it crashing against the wall with a sickening thud.

Having a fighter at the front to draw attention was fantastic; Bai Mu just needed to quietly flank them from behind.

Caught in a pincer attack, the horde of Zombies was easily wiped out. Bai Mu slowly sheathed his kitchen knife, but Mighty Dave continued to glare at him like a tiger eyeing its prey. The giant hefted his twisted water pipe, his eyes seemingly red with bloodlust, as if he had mistaken Bai Mu for just another Zombie.

"Brother, I am on your side!" Bai Mu hurriedly shouted.

But Mighty Dave did not stop, his face still locked in a murderous expression, ready for a fight to the death.

Just then, Bai Mu remembered the bandana. He hastily pulled it out and flashed it at the man, finally causing Mighty Dave's berserk expression to calm down. 'That was close,' Bai Mu thought to himself. If he hadn't picked up this bandana earlier, he probably would have been beaten to a pulp by Mighty Dave right now. Judging by the giant's recent performance, his strength far exceeded Bai Mu's. More importantly, this man was his rescue target; he didn't want to clash with him. "Your brother sent me to find you." Bai Mu paused for a moment, then revealed the [Anti-Zombie Marine Corps Medal of Honor] pinned to the inside of his suit. Seeing the medal, Mighty Dave's expression shifted again.

"Oh, my god, that is Grandpa's Medal of Honor!" Mighty Dave exclaimed.

Bai Mu handed the bandana over. "You can believe me now, right? I only wore this outfit to slip past those Zombies. It is highly effective."

"You are right, my friend." Mighty Dave glanced at the Zombies Bai Mu had hacked down. "Good heavens, it makes me so happy to run into a living person right now."

"Those damned Zombies have actually made a comeback, and they are wearing clothes that are completely in a mess." Mighty Dave wiped the sweat from his forehead, tied the bandana back around his head, and let out a long sigh. "I only ever heard Grandpa tell stories about them. This is really upsetting."

"Your brother asked me to help him retrieve the Sunflower," Bai Mu continued. "He has some miraculous plants over there that can deal with these Zombies. Let us go, I will take you back. I have already found the Sunflower."

"Oh... my friend... do you not find those plants with eyes, noses, and ears terrifying? Especially when you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, and you see a pair of eyes staring right at you in the dark..." Mighty Dave shivered. "But... fine, at least they are a little better than those stinking Zombies."

"Let us go find my brother, friend. The fact that you could navigate the thick fog to find this place all by yourself and even obtain my grandpa's Medal of Honor tells me you must be a trustworthy person. I will follow your lead."

[Mighty Dave has joined your party.]

[Because you have equipped the "Anti-Zombie Marine Corps Medal of Honor", Mighty Dave has become your temporary follower.]

[You can issue commands to Mighty Dave.]

A powerful teammate had joined Bai Mu's party. This guy possessed formidable combat strength; the dead Zombies littering the ground were proof enough.

The Script seemed to have become much simpler. Mighty Dave was built like a small giant; even with Bai Mu standing at five foot nine, he looked diminutive standing next to him.

Bai Mu's eyes rolled as an idea sparked—he could use Mighty Dave to help him farm a wave of experience points. Since it was still early, he immediately switched his Title to "Savior" and cast Emergency Treatment on Mighty Dave to help him recover his condition.

Although items, equipment, and skills were disabled, this Title was still effective. However, there was a limit to how many times he could switch Titles within a Script; he could only swap them three more times at most.

After healing Mighty Dave, he explained his plan to the big guy.

As a teammate, Mighty Dave was quite obedient. If Bai Mu had not obtained the "Anti-Zombie Marine Corps Medal of Honor" in the previous Script, the giant likely would never listen to a Player's commands. Even if he were rescued, he would only tag along with the Player as a neutral character.

But with the "Medal of Honor," he was essentially acting as a Player's Summon. With this big guy's help, Bai Mu initiated his monster-luring plan.

Mighty Dave didn't question him in the slightest. Following orders, he ventured into the fog to lure the Zombies back into the alley. He could even handle the Football Zombies with ease. His true combat power definitely far surpassed that of an ordinary human, making him an incredibly reliable meat shield.

Bai Mu simply disguised himself as a Zombie and hid at the alley's exit, repeating their earlier trick with the big guy. Mighty Dave was in charge of pulling aggro, while Bai Mu handled flanking from the rear.

The duo mowed down the Zombies like they were cutting grass. His Secret Sword Art experience points skyrocketed, quickly leveling up to level 3. Reaching level 3 in this sword technique also granted Bai Mu a one-point bonus to his Strength attribute. While a single stat point wasn't much, leveling it up so easily still felt incredibly rewarding.

However, after luring three waves of Zombies, Mighty Dave's stamina began to run low. Bai Mu simply summoned Lucy and used her recovery items to restore the giant's health and condition.

Then came another fierce grind. Little Lucy floated beside Bai Mu, watching him weave in and out of the Zombie horde in his suit. With every rise and fall of his blade, heads rolled. Bai Mu slaughtered the Zombies without blinking, hacking his way through them relentlessly from one end of the street to the other.

If the kitchen knife in his hand had a durability gauge, the blade would have chipped and curled long ago. Fortunately, it was equipment from Paradise and wouldn't be scrapped due to overuse. After this intense session, Bai Mu leveled his Secret Sword Art up to level 4. The Buckethead Zombie, standard Zombies, and Conehead Zombie each contributed one experience point. The Football Zombie offered two points, as did the Screen Door Zombie and the Vaulting Zombie. Calculating it all, he had earned a total of 356 experience points. Working together, he and Mighty Dave had exterminated over two hundred Zombies—a truly luxurious combat record.

The two of them fought their way back, killing Zombies as they went, and managed to cover half the distance to their destination.

'This really is a bonus Script,' Bai Mu thought to himself. When he killed his one-hundredth Zombie, he even earned the Title "Zombie Killer," which dealt twenty percent bonus damage to Zombies. This stacked with the medal's damage buff, increasing his overall attack power against them by a full fifty percent. It was absolutely exhilarating. Slaughtering these Zombies was far too satisfying, and he figured the final settlement would probably drop some sweet equipment. But just as they continued their trek back, he noticed that the Zombie troops emerging from the dense fog were growing larger in number.

At the same time, the ground began to tremble beneath the heavy footfalls of Giant Zombies. A piercing radio static cut through the thick fog. The chaotic, disorganized Zombies suddenly fell into a coordinated formation. Above the mist, dark silhouettes drifted past—they were the Balloon Zombies.

A massive, colossal shadow flashed through the fog. Its arrival completely drowned out the footsteps of the Giant Zombies, accompanied by a deafening roar that sounded like grinding gears and a revving car engine.
