Chapter 1200: The Law Between Dreams (1) |
"Right now, you exist here as a foreign consciousness. But soon...you’ll become something worse!"
Jacob seemed to know what Nyx was implying and didn’t respond, but simply watched.
"Now try to extend your soul perception," Nyx instructed. "But don’t use your soul sense instead, use your awareness and intent."
Jacob followed Nyx’s instructions and carefully let his awareness and intent of ’control’ spread, but not outward, and into Dreamscape itself.
The next moment, instantly, information flooded him like fragments, memories, sensations, a glimpse of endless void, a feeling of being hunted, rage, submission, evolution, pain, and everything that makes Whiteness very being.
Jacob’s eyes flickered wildly as he was overwhelmed by so many foreign intentions, but he didn’t lose control and tried to steady himself.
"...I see." He muttered with a hint of realization.
Nyx’s tone carried faint approval as she spoke with a hint of excitement, "Now you see what I usually see and experience. You can say this is the world of dreams, which is directly connected to the consciousness, and as long as you know how to tread, nothing is impossible. Now for the next step."
As Nyx’s voice trailed off, the next moment, the space around Jacob warped slightly as she ambiguously uttered, "Create."
Nyx answered with a hint of annoyance, "What? Have you also forgotten about what you can do within a Dreamscape Realm? Just like inside your own Dreamscape, you can use your intent and imagination to make anything.
"The only difference being it’s not your Dreamscape, and your ’authority’ here is very limited, at least for now. But as time passes, you start to devour this dreamscape, your authority will become stronger, until this Dreamscape is fully devoured!
Realization dawned on Jacob as he understood what Nyx was implying, and after a moment of silence, he raised his hand, and for the first time, he acted within the Dreamscape other than his own.
Thereafter, a ripple spread outward, reality bent, and slowly, a figure began to form in the distance. But the next instant, the distorted figure in the distance trembled for its incompleteness and instability, yet felt somewhat real as he watched it closely.
He commented ambiguously, "...So this is how it starts."
Nyx’s voice turned almost delighted as she spoke, and her tone carried quiet anticipation, "Yes. Although right now, you can only create somewhat of an illusion. But it doesn’t matter, as soon you’ll learn how to turn illusions into nightmares!"
Jacob understood, focusing his will and forcing structure into the illusion.
"Stabilize it," Nyx murmured. "Don’t just imagine because you have no authority right now, especially not like your Dreamscape Realm; instead, try to anchor it and make it a part of the Dreamscape itself!"
Jacob’s eyes compressed into beams, and the next moment, the figure sharpened slightly as limbs formed, and a vague silhouette of a creature took shape under his meticulous control.
However, then something strange happened: the figure seemed to twitch, not under Jacob’s control but by itself.
Jacob’s eyes flickered with surprise as he questioned, "What is this?"
Right at that moment, the illusion did something even more bizarre as it turned its head, and its movements were smooth and too natural. It looked directly at him as if a living being!
Jacob knew something was amiss, and at that moment, Nyx’s voice dropped instantly and urged him, "Break it now!"
But Nyx’s warning came too late; the next instant, the figure’s body split open like peeling flesh, revealing layers of writhing white chitin beneath. Its form expanded violently, no longer bound by Jacob’s intent. It seemed to have been hijacked!
"No!" Nyx’s slightly panicked voice rang.
The next moment, the Dreamscape trembled, and from the distant void, the colossal Mantis moved, albeit not fully, but enough to cause a ripple of awareness to surge through the entire Dreamscape.
Thereafter, Jacob felt it furiously slam into him like a cold, ancient tidal wave filled with predatory intent!
"You revealed yourself," Nyx said sharply. "You used too much ’identity’."
The next moment, the hijacked illusion shrieked; not with sound but with presence, and in the next instant, it lunged.
Jacob dared not be reckless as he wasn’t here with his real body, nor could he use too much of his real powers here because Nyx had told him that the more ’identity’ he revealed too early, the more difficult it would be for him to devour Whiteness’s dreamscape realm.
The reason behind it was simple. Once Jacob’s ’identity’ was registered in the Dreamscape Realm as an ’intruder’ or ’malicious being’, every time he entered, Whiteness’s consciousness would instinctively try to eliminate him.
If it were someone whose realm wasn’t as high as Whiteness, it wouldn’t be a problem for Jacob, but even if Whiteness was sealed, his Dreamscape was still at the realm of the Higher God, and if Jacob wasn’t careful, he might suffer terribly.
For this exact danger, Nyx needs so much time to devour this Dreamscape Realm, and even that because Whiteness had been sealed by Jacob, or she couldn’t even touch Whiteness’s dreamscape realm, much less step into it.
At that moment, Jacob tried to pull back, but something snapped around his consciousness unexpectedly that even Nyx hadn’t predicted.
They were chains!
However, those chains weren’t the ones binding Whiteness, but new ones seemed to form from the Dreamscape itself, and shot towards Jacob, and like coiling snakes, wrapped around his perception, digging into him like hooks!
"...!"
Jacob felt pain after a very long time, but that pain was different as it didn’t hit his body, but hit his sense of self, before memories flickered violently in his mind. His mind felt like being touched and invaded!
"Welcome," A voice echoed.
However, that voice neither belonged to Nyx nor to Jacob, but to something deeper and broken, as it continued, "You... are not allowed here!"
The very next moment, the Dreamscape shifted, and the ground beneath Jacob fractured into countless layered memories like visions of endless hunting, devouring, evolving...
Suddenly, Jacob wasn’t standing anymore, for he was inside them!
