Chapter 442: begin

Dorothy stood alone outside the arena of the Advanced Magic Academy of Luersk.

This was indeed one of the most advanced magic academies in Nolan. The building in front of Dorothy was no less than the arena of Fort Orson.

There were… so many people.

Dorothy glanced around. Everywhere she looked was full of human and dwarven figures. From time to time, she could see goblins selling drinks and food.

Was there some kind of grand gathering here?

Dorothy was a little confused. A few days ago, when she was competing, she could only see a group of dwarves and some spell casters in the Hearthstone Tavern.

She was glad that she had made sufficient preparations today. Not only did she put on the hood of a wizard’s robe, but she also specially sewed a mask for a stalker.

This way, even if her appearance appeared on TV, Dorothy did not think that she would be recognized by someone she knew… probably.

Wait… she was going to be late!

Dorothy circled around outside the magic arena but could not find the entrance. The surrounding crowd seemed to want to swallow her up.

“That’s where the audience enters.”

Just as Dorothy was getting more and more anxious, a familiar voice rang in her ear.

Josh… a man whom Dorothy had labeled as a profiteer. Dorothy had never dared to have too much contact with him. But now, the moment she saw Josh, Dorothy suddenly had the urge to hug him and cheer.

But the modesty of a lady still made her suppress the excitement in her heart.

“Isn’t there a guide inscription on the letter?”Josh took out an invitation letter and injected magic into it. The invitation letter seemed to be folded into the shape of a bird by an invisible hand, it flew to the other side of the Magic Arena.

“I... Didn’t notice it,”Dorothy said.

“Don’t bother with these details. You’re the first player to enter the arena. The audience is already waiting for you.”

Jose led Dorothy around the crowd and arrived at a secret entrance on the other side of the Magic Arena. Dorothy followed Jose through a somewhat dim tunnel and came to a bright exit.

“Your battlefield is ahead. Have you brought your weapon?”Josh asked.

“Weapon?”

Dorothy searched her body and quickly took out the ‘card box’that stored her card set.

“I’m… Ready.”Dorothy took a deep breath to calm herself down.

She looked at the exit that was emitting light. She could vaguely hear the sound from outside just by standing there.

Dorothy, who was born in Olsenburg, was familiar with this sound. When she watched the Gladiator competition, she had been in it countless times.

It would cheer like a tidal wave for the winner, while the loser would leave dejectedly.

Dorothy did not expect that she would one day become a gladiator and stand on this stage.

However, this feeling was not bad.

“Let’s go and win glory together.”

Dorothy touched the card sets hanging on her waist and strode into the arena.

There were still a lot of people.

Dorothy raised her head and looked around. The LUERSK Advanced Magic Academy was also a ring-shaped arena. The audience seats in the arena were full.

She still could not understand why a card game that originated from a tavern would be welcomed by so many people in Nolan.

Wasn’t this a niche game that was dominated by Dwarves?

However, there was no point in being puzzled. Dorothy glanced at her ‘battlefield’and realized that it was completely different from what she had imagined.

In her imagination, there should only be a magical machine that played Hearthstone in the middle, and then the players of both sides would sit next to the machine and fight like in a tavern.

That was why Dorothy thought that it would be very inappropriate to arrange a hearthstone competition in a venue that was enough for a ‘battle between Knights’.

However, the magical machine that Dorothy was familiar with was not placed in the center. Instead, there was a four-meter tall tower on both sides of the arena.

“Miss Dorothy, the magical machine that you are using is above the tower.”

A spell caster who looked like an assistant stood beside the tower and said to Dorothy.

What… was he doing?

Confused, Dorothy climbed up the tower made of stones and found that there was indeed a legendary magic machine playing Hearthstone at the top of the tower.

And then another player also came to the tower?

Confused, Dorothy suddenly heard a voice in the magic arena, an exciting voice.

“The first player is Dorothy Bexner, a young lady from the country of Steel!”

At this moment, Dorothy was completely stunned. She raised her head and looked at the other side of the arena. It was a huge ‘movie screen’. Only then did Dorothy realize that her figure was on the screen!

It was over… Dorothy had actually forgotten that before this kind of gladiatorial competition began, she would loudly inform the audience of the names of both parties participating in the competition.

Even the famous knight in Orson Castle would cause the entire audience to cheer.

Dorothy had never thought that Nolan would actually have such a tradition..

Under such circumstances, it was meaningless to cover up her appearance.

With the mentality of going all out, Dorothy took off the mask on her face and the hood on her head at the same time.

Her long wine-red hair shone under the light of the primary crystal, and her appearance, which was enough to move any noble boy, appeared on the screen.

At this moment… Dorothy did indeed hear the exclamations and cheers from the audience.

Perhaps those spell casters did not expect that Hearthstone’s legendary player would actually have a girl!

Come on..

Dorothy stared at the stone tower opposite the ring.

She had placed all her bets on the championship. If she could not win the championship, Dorothy could not imagine what kind of treatment she would receive when she returned to Osenburg.

“Then let’s invite our next contestant…”

Dorothy quietly listened to the voice announce who her opponent was. In Dorothy’s prediction, it was most likely a dwarf. After all, the top eight contestants that Dorothy remembered were all dwarves!

A human? Or an… Old Man?

Dorothy watched an old man slowly walk up the stone tower with a magic staff. The filthy long robe and beard on his body made it impossible for Dorothy to associate him with the legendary top eight of Hearthstone.

However, the moment Dorothy recognized him, the girl from the country of steel once again entered a state of shock with her eyes wide open.

“Impossible…”Dorothy muttered to herself. This was the first time since she came to Nolan that her worldview had suffered a blow.

Unfortunately, no matter how much she denied it, what was in front of her was reality.

“The president of the RUELSK Advanced Magic Academy, one of Nolan’s Seven Sages, the gray-clothed Ruelsk!”

Even Louder cheers erupted from the audience.

Dorothy’s brain had completely entered the mode of stopping thinking, but she quickly came back to her senses.

The gray-clothed man, one of the Great Seven Sages, was actually a hearthstone player? ! and he even made it into the top eight?

Dorothy looked at the old man who was dressed in dirty clothes in the distance.

As an ordinary citizen of the country of steel, Dorothy clearly understood how sacred the seven sages were.

Even the Prince of the country of steel made the king so happy that the whole country celebrated just because he could become the Seven Sages’apprentice.

And now Dorothy was not standing in front of the Sage as an apprentice, but as an opponent!

An equal opponent was standing in front of him.

Why would the high and mighty sage play this kind of card game!

Dorothy had no time to think. The spell caster assistant below had already reminded Dorothy to put the card box into the slot.

The battle was about to begin. Dorothy subconsciously put the card box into the slot.

From the letter, she learned that the competition this time was based on a three-out-of-three system.

When the card group chose to pop out, Dorothy subconsciously chose the second card group she was good at, the Wizard with the ‘fire demon who controls the power of fire’as the core!

Dorothy chose her card group and instantly entered the familiar reading screen.

The moment she entered the match, a blue light fell from the sky and gradually formed the figure of a woman.

Dorothy looked at the woman standing on the ring from the stone tower. Dorothy knew her! The legendary Caster Jaina prodemore, the representative of the Hearthstone’s legendary Mage Class!

What happened? Why did the character in her card come to the real world.

Dorothy already felt that her brain was not enough, but soon, ice-blue magic runes appeared on Jaina’s hand as she stood on the ring. After a cracking sound, the legendary mage slowly said the lines that she was familiar with.

“My magic will tear you into pieces!”

Under the tower where the gray-clothed person was standing in the distance, a large number of vines and green began to grow. An elf with light purple skin slowly appeared on the stage.

“I am the guardian of nature.”

Following the Elf’s voice, half of the ground on the stage had already been covered by green vines and grass.

Dorothy also knew this elf, the legendary druid of Hearthstone, Malfurion Stormrage.

“Let us enjoy this battle more clearly under the illusion created by the purple-clothed merors!”

The voice that had just announced Dorothy’s identity to everyone explained everything that had happened on the stage once again.

Illusion… was this an illusion created by the other Nolan Sage?

Dorothy looked at the magic-powered mechanical image in disbelief. She had obtained the right to take the initiative and was lucky enough to draw the magic-powered levitating dragon that only cost her a fee.

She placed the follower into the battlefield as usual. Under the condensation of the pale purple runes, a translucent dragon-type creature appeared in front of Gianna.

This match… would indeed be very exciting.

Dorothy looked at the floating magical floating dragon on the field and was completely sure that her decision to flee from the marriage was not wrong!

    Chapter 442: Begin

Dorothy stood alone outside the arena of the Lursk Advanced Magic Academy.

This was undeniably one of Norland’s most prestigious magic academies. The structure before her rivaled the grand arenas of Osenberg in scale.

And the crowd… it was immense.

Dorothy scanned the surroundings. Humans and dwarves thronged the area, and vendors, goblins, orcs, and various other races hawked drinks and food.

'Was there some kind of grand festival happening here?'

Dorothy was perplexed. A few days prior, during her matches in the Hearthstone Tavern, she had only seen dwarves and spellcasters.

She was now grateful for her careful preparations. She wore a mage robe and a concealing mask.

This way, even if her face appeared on the television screens, Dorothy believed she wouldn’t be recognized by anyone she knew… hopefully.

Wait… she was going to be late!

Dorothy circled the magic arena, unable to find the player entrance. The overwhelming crowd threatened to engulf her.

    “That’s where the audience enters.”

Just as her anxiety peaked, a familiar voice reached her ears.

Joshua… a man she had mentally labeled a shrewd profiteer. She had always kept her distance. But now, at the sight of him, Dorothy felt an unexpected surge of relief.

She suppressed the urge to hug him, maintaining her composure.

“Isn’t there a guide inscription on the letter?” Joshua produced an invitation letter and infused it with magic. The letter folded itself into a bird-like shape and flew towards the opposite side of the arena.

“I… didn’t notice it,” Dorothy admitted.
“Don’t worry about the details. You’re the first player to enter the arena. The audience is waiting.”

Joshua led her through the crowd to a concealed entrance on the arena’s other side. They traversed a dimly lit tunnel, emerging into a brightly lit area.

“Your battlefield is ahead. Did you bring your weapon?” Joshua asked.

    “Weapon?”

Dorothy searched her person and retrieved the ‘card box’ containing her deck.

“I’m… ready.” Dorothy took a deep breath, calming her nerves.

She gazed at the illuminated exit. The sounds emanating from beyond were unmistakable.

Dorothy, raised in Osenberg, was familiar with the roar of a crowd. It was the sound of gladiatorial contests, the cheers for the victor, the silence for the defeated.

She never imagined she would stand on such a stage.

    But the feeling was… exhilarating.

    “Let’s go win glory together.”

Dorothy touched the card box at her waist and strode into the arena.

The crowd was even larger than she had anticipated.

Dorothy looked around. The Lursk Advanced Magic Academy’s arena was a ring-shaped structure, packed with spectators.

She still couldn’t fathom why a card game originating from a tavern had garnered such popularity in Norland.

Wasn’t it a niche game, dominated by dwarves?

But there was no time for contemplation. Dorothy examined her ‘battlefield’ and found it vastly different from her expectations.

She had envisioned a magical Hearthstone machine in the center, with the players seated beside it, just like in a tavern.

That was why she had found it strange to hold a card game in an arena fit for knights.

However, the familiar magical machine was absent. Instead, two four-meter tall towers stood on opposite sides of the arena.

“Miss Dorothy, the magical machine you’ll be using is atop the tower.”

A mage, seemingly an assistant, stood beside the tower and addressed her.

    'What… was he talking about?'

Confused, Dorothy ascended the stone tower and found a Hearthstone machine at the summit.

Another player was also approaching the opposing tower.

Suddenly, an excited voice echoed through the arena.

“The first player is Dorothy Bakersner, a young lady from Ogounis!”

Dorothy was stunned. She looked towards the opposite side of the arena, where a massive ‘movie screen’ displayed her image.

It was over… she had forgotten the gladiatorial tradition of announcing the combatants.

Even famous knights in Osenberg were greeted by thunderous cheers.
Dorothy hadn’t anticipated such a custom in Norland.

Under these circumstances, concealing her identity was pointless.

With a surge of defiance, Dorothy removed her mask and hood.

Her long, wine-red hair shimmered under the primary crystal’s light, and her striking features filled the screen.

The audience erupted in gasps and cheers.
Perhaps the spellcasters hadn’t expected the legendary Hearthstone player to be a woman!

    'Bring it on.'

Dorothy stared at the stone tower opposite her.

She had staked everything on victory. Failure was not an option.

“And now, let’s welcome our next contestant…”

Dorothy listened to the announcer. She expected a dwarf. After all, most of the top eight contestants were dwarves.

A human? Or an… old man?

Dorothy watched an elderly man, staff in hand, ascend the opposing tower. His disheveled robes and beard made him an unlikely Hearthstone champion.

But the moment she recognized him, Dorothy’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“Impossible…” she muttered. Her worldview was shattering.

Despite her disbelief, the reality was undeniable.

“The head of the Lursk Advanced Magic Academy, one of Norland’s Seven Sages, the Gray Sage Lursk!”

    The audience roared.

Dorothy’s mind reeled. The Gray Sage, one of the Seven Sages, was a Hearthstone player?! And he had reached the top eight?

She stared at the old man in the distance.
As an ordinary citizen of Ogounis, Dorothy understood the reverence afforded to the Seven Sages.

Even the Prince of Ogounis’s apprenticeship had been a national celebration.

And now, Dorothy stood before a Sage, not as a student, but as an opponent.

    An equal opponent.

Why would such an esteemed figure play a card game?

Dorothy had no time to ponder. The assistant mage reminded her to insert the card box into the slot.

The match was about to begin. Dorothy inserted the card box.

The letter had explained the three-round format.

When the deck selection screen appeared, Dorothy chose her favored ‘Firelord’ Wizard deck.

As the match loaded, a blue light descended, forming a woman’s figure.

Dorothy recognized her! The legendary Mage, Jaina Proudmoore!

'What is happening? Why is my card character here?'

Dorothy was overwhelmed. But then, ice-blue magic runes appeared on Jaina’s hand. The legendary mage spoke her familiar lines.

“My magic will tear you into pieces!”

Beneath the Gray Sage’s tower, vines and greenery sprouted. An elf with light purple skin materialized.

“I am the guardian of nature.”

Following the Elf’s voice, half the stage was covered in vines and grass.

Dorothy recognized him too, Malfurion Stormrage, the legendary druid.

“Let’s enjoy this battle more clearly under the illusion created by the Purple Sage Mellor!” The announcer explained the scene.

'An illusion created by another Sage?'

Dorothy stared at the magical projection. She had drawn the low-cost magical floating dragon.

She placed the follower on the field. Under the pale purple runes, a translucent dragon appeared before Jaina.

This match… would indeed be extraordinary.
Dorothy, watching the floating dragon, reaffirmed her decision to flee her wedding. It was the right choice.
