Chapter 1944: Young Dragons |
A few hours after Yuan and Xi Meili were given a living quarter, the Dragon Emperor showed up at their place.
"I have contacted the Azure Dragon Clan, but it may take a few days, if not weeks, before we get a response," he said. "In the meantime, you can treat the Dragon Spiral Mountain as if it's your own home."
"I will do just that," Yuan nodded.
"Would you like to walk with me? I'll give you a tour around the place. There's also a lot I would still like to discuss with you."
"Sure."
"Can I come along?" Xi Meili asked.
"I don't see why you cannot."
As they walked through the residential grounds with the Dragon Emperor leading the way, he suddenly spoke, his tone laced with concern, "How is the Dragon Goddess? Is she… well?"
Yuan nodded and responded, "She's fine."
"Let's just say we faced a powerful opponent."
The Dragon Emperor fell silent. He couldn't fathom a being stronger than Dragon Goddess Yeyou, who was so powerful that not even the Dragon Ancestor and the Great One could hold a candle against her.
"I'd like to ask you something as well," Yuan said, breaking the silence. "Why does the Holy Dragon Clan devote itself to her?"
The Dragon Emperor glanced at him, then replied, "It is in a dragon's nature to follow strength, and Dragon Goddess Yeyou stands among the most powerful beings in existence. For many, that alone would be reason enough to revere her. But for us, there is another reason we worship her."
"Back then, the Holy Dragon Clan was of no great lineage—just an ordinary bloodline, struggling to survive. We stood on the brink of annihilation."
He continued in a solemn voice, "But Dragon Goddess Yeyou descended in our darkest hour. She gave us a second chance, blessing us with a drop of her divine blood. That single act transformed our lineage, elevating our bloodline to rival even those of royal descent."
"Oh, I think I remember when that happened." Yuan suddenly said with a reminiscing expression on his face.
"Really? It was a time long before I was even born," the Dragon Emperor looked at him with surprise.
Even now, he could hardly believe Yuan was the Immortal Monarch.
As they wandered the Dragon Spiral Mountain, its residents would stare at them from a distance while mumbling to each other.
"That must be Dragon Goddess Yeyou's envoy. Why do you think he's here?"
"I'm more interested in why Dragon Goddess Yeyou chose a human to be her envoy."
"It's not that surprising if you consider that she used to follow a human around."
"You mean the Immortal Monarch? People claim he's human, but I do not believe it for a second. He was definitely a dragon disguising himself as a human, and you cannot convince me otherwise!"
The Dragon Spiral Mountain in the Nine Heavens closely resembled its counterpart on Earth—a towering peak with a spiraling path winding around its body. However, it was vastly larger in scale, both in height and breadth, soaring several times higher and far more expansive.
Its colossal size was no coincidence—it was a deliberate tribute to Dragon Goddess Yeyou's overwhelming power. The mountain had been purposefully shaped to surpass the others, a testament to her unmatched divinity.
The foot of the mountain was filled with stores, restaurants, and all the amenities one would expect from a thriving city. A little higher up the mountain lay the residential area, sprawling across most of its vast expanse and housing the majority of its inhabitants.
The praying area and training grounds were situated above the residential area, and beyond that point, only those with significant status within the clan were permitted to ascend any higher.
"How many individuals does the Holy Dragon Clan hold?" Yuan asked as they arrived at the training grounds, where many young dragons could be seen sparring with each other while supervised by Immortal experts.
"We have around 20,000 dragons within the Holy Dragon Clan. It may seem like a lot, but we're actually one of the smallest Dragon Clans in the Nine Heavens. The Azure Dragon Clan, for example, has over 100,000 members within its clan. Moreover, only about 50 of us actually have the Holy Dragon Bloodline."
The young dragons at the training grounds quickly noticed the Dragon Emperor and bowed to him with respect. A few of them approached him and asked, "Your Majesty, who is this person? He also has a unique scent on him that I don't recognize," one of the young dragons asked as he looked at Yuan with curiosity.
The Dragon Emperor smiled and declared, "This individual is a human—and the envoy of Dragon Goddess Yeyou."
"Dragon Goddess Yeyou's envoy?!"
The young dragons stiffened in shock, and the realization hit them like thunder. Without hesitation, they bowed deeply to Yuan.
"We greet the envoy of Dragon Goddess Yeyou!"
Though they didn't fully understand what the title entailed, the mere presence of her name within it was enough. That alone made it sacred.
Yuan gave a casual wave of his hand and said, "No need for formalities. Just treat me like a friend."
"Then… what exactly is an envoy?!" one of the young dragons suddenly asked, curiosity gleaming in their eyes.
"It's like a messenger or representative," Yuan replied with a faint smile. "In this case, I'm a messenger for Dragon Goddess Yeyou."
"Wow! Does this mean that Dragon Goddess Yeyou sent you here?!"
"Why did she send you here? Does she have a message for us?"
The young dragons bombarded Yuan with questions.
"Enough. You're bothering him," the Dragon Emperor said sharply, his tone firm and commanding, bringing an immediate hush over the young dragons.
"It's fine," Yuan said, and he began answering their questions one by one.
"That's right, I was sent here by Dragon Goddess Yeyou. As for why I am here… I cannot tell you the full details, but it is related to the Azure Dragon Clan."
