Chapter 633: Echoes of the Past! Bones of Yesteryear |
Seeing that he didn’t speak, Lynn offered a faint smile and said no more. Alice’s power instantly gathered on the monomolecular blade in his hand, and the icy, sinister aura crackled and exploded in the air around them.
Then, in the next moment.
He abruptly closed his eyes, poured every ounce of strength into his body, and suddenly drove the blade straight toward his own glabella.
The sharp edge rapidly expanded in his pupils.
The tip of the sword pierced his brow like cutting through nothing, burrowing into his brain and making a beeline for the soul vessel implanted within.
“I’ll cooperate!!”
Almost the instant the monomolecular blade was less than a centimeter from that soul vessel, the mental defense he had painstakingly erected crumbled once more under Lynn’s brutal assault. He let out a terrified roar, shouting those three words.
The blade stopped instantly.
Lynn smiled eerily, slowly withdrew the monomolecular sword embedded in him, twirled it into a flourish, and tossed it into the System Space.
315 Doctor panted, his face deathly pale, utterly broken and despondent from the torment.
Lynn leaned in close to him, like a madman, bent over to lock eyes with him from inches away, and said in a gentle, measured tone, word by word:
“Come on, Doctor. Be a good boy. Let that child’s brother out.”
315 Doctor murmured.
His whole body trembled uncontrollably.
It was as if he had been brainwashed. Finally, dazed and quivering, he reached out a hand and said hollowly, “I need… to be unbound… My will is suppressed by the curse… Otherwise, I can’t open… my space…”
Lynn whispered in his ear, “Doctor, don’t try any tricks. You know I’m not a good person. That sword behind you carries the aura of the Root. One little move, and your soul will turn into porridge.”
315 Doctor’s body flinched instinctively, his pupils violently shaking. His gaze was vacant as he said, “No… I wouldn’t dare…”
Lynn gave him a deep, searching look, let out a chuckle, and lightly grasped the monomolecular sword lodged in the back of his skull. With a flick of his finger, the puppet—half its head sheared off, the Cursed Eye implanted within—narrowed its eyes instantly. The pitch-black Cursed Eye slowly oozed a stream of crimson blood.
The atmosphere around them suddenly turned cold and sinister.
Clatter, clatter, clatter—
The inky black chains binding his body gradually loosened under the influence of the Cursed Eye.
Lynn had weakened the curse placed upon him.
He said in a low voice, “Release him.”
315 Doctor panted, “No… not yet… I still can’t muster any power. I need…”
Lynn’s voice turned cold. “Release him.”
An icy sensation shot up from the back of his skull, sending a chill through his entire body. He licked his dry, cracked lips, gritted his teeth, and could only force his power to stir. Straining under the oppression of the curse, he painfully eked out his strength bit by bit, like squeezing toothpaste from a tube.
Crack, crack, crack—
The space before him slowly tore open under his power.
Just like Lynn’s own System Space—when one’s strength reached a certain level, beings like Alice could forcibly carve out a personal storage crevice of their own.
And under Miaomiao’s stunned, fixed gaze.
A skeletal hand slowly emerged from the spatial rift, followed by a torso, limbs, a neck, a head…
When that skeleton—every shred of flesh seemingly scraped from its bones—fully materialized, Miaomiao was already overwhelmed with tears.
Yes.
It was him!
Even without any flesh or blood, even reduced to a mere skeleton, even transformed into this grotesque, inhuman monster, she recognized him at a glance. That once rebellious young man. The biological child of her father and mother. Her brother.
The father had been turned into a monster of flesh and blood. The brother, however, had been stripped of all his flesh, leaving only a brain housed within the skeleton.
And if they had never fallen into this Dark World.
In the ordinary world they once belonged to, he would still be at the age for schooling—just like all his peers, singing, dancing, rapping, playing basketball…
“Brother…”
Miaomiao shuffled forward, trembling, tears streaming down her face as she stared at the skeleton.
“Is it you? Are you really my brother?!”
“Do you still remember Miaomiao? The silly cat you used to hate so much? Can you say something to me…”
But there was nothing.
The figure before her stood like a truly silent, motionless skeleton.
Lynn turned, his gaze sharp as a torch, and looked at the youth who was nothing but bone. “Alice.”
Inside him, Alice nodded. In the next instant, a long, pale hand of an evil spirit extended from his chest, reaching toward the skeleton’s skull to probe within.
The moment it entered his mind, Lynn immediately felt, through Alice, wave after wave of intense, chaotic, and bloody fluctuations.
It didn’t feel like consciousness at all!
It was more like a thick, viscous, and evil sludge churned together!
“Brother… he… is terrifying…”
“His consciousness has been… fed countless hatreds that don’t belong to him. Those hatreds and malice come from countless victims tortured to death. He hates… he hates everyone!”
In an instant, Alice’s hand, unable to withstand the chaos in his mind, was violently forced back out. Her face was deathly pale.
No doubt about it!
Over these hundreds of years!
He had been completely transformed. His soul had long been shattered into fragments. What stood before them now was nothing more than a freak stuffed with countless evil spirits!
“Are there any remaining fragments of his will?” Lynn asked deeply.
Alice shook her head. “I… I’m not sure… Every strand of hatred and malice inside is deeply ingrained. There’s no way to tell which one might be a fragment of his soul…”
Lynn’s expression turned grave. He looked at Miaomiao, her eyes brimming with tears, and finally made a decision.
“If there is even a single trace of his soul left in this body…”
Lynn strode forward, raising his head as a dazzling white glow slowly materialized in both his hands.
“I should be able to temporarily make him reappear.”
“As for what the actual odds are…”
“Let fate decide.”
In an instant.
Lynn’s eyes sharpened. His palm slammed onto the pale skull, and a silvery-white radiance illuminated the entire First Chamber.
Echoes of the Past!
Activate!
The silver-white aura instantly enveloped the body, targeting only this vessel—targeting only the broken, wandering soul fragments within.
If you still exist here.
Then let your past be reborn.
