Chapter 890: Murder

The next morning.

Lumian and the others had just finished breakfast in their room and were waiting for Ludwig to clean up the rest when they heard the doorbell ring.

Outside the door was a half-giant youth about two meters tall, with slightly longer arms and legs, short curly brown hair that looked fluffy.

He had thick eyebrows and big eyes, with a square face. After his gaze swept over Lumian, Franca and Jenna, it involuntarily lowered to look at his own toes as he said, "I'm here to find Lumian Lee, uh, possibly Ms. Lumina Lee."

He spoke in ancient Feysac.

"That's me," Lumian understood this was probably the messenger sent by Mr. Sun to take him to the Twin Towers of the New City of Silver.

That Major Arcana card holder seemed to have deliberately found a youth, to ensure the height difference wouldn't be too dramatic.

The youth let out a sigh of relief and said awkwardly, "I've been ordered by the six-member council to take you to see Elder Derrick Berg at the Twin Towers."

"Alright," Lumian nodded to Jenna and Franca, then followed the youth out of the hotel towards the Twin Towers located in a corner of the New City of Silver.

Along the way, the half-giant youth walked slightly ahead to the side, his back somewhat stiff, occasionally showing a tendency to swing the same arm and leg together, as if he had almost forgotten how to walk normally.

He would turn his head to glance at Lumian from time to time, but not knowing what to say, he could only quickly turn his head back.

Halfway through the journey, he finally thought of a suitable topic. Half turning his body, he asked Lumian, "Aren't, aren't you worried that I might be a bad person? Maybe what I said about the six-member council's order and going to see Elder Derrick Berg at the Twin Towers is all a lie to trick you?"

I could kill thirty of your kind in one breath… Lumian only thought to himself, without saying it out loud.

On the one hand, they were both followers of Mr. Fool and not too familiar, so there was no need to mock. On the other hand, Lumian felt that if his sister Aurore was here, she definitely wouldn't answer in a similar way.

He smiled lightly and said, "I'm not worried, because this is the New City of Silver."

The half-giant youth suddenly became very happy and said in a tone of heartfelt pride,

"Yes, the Lord has always taught us to be kind and restrained. Our New City of Silver strictly cracks down on all kinds of crimes, especially guarding against theft, fraud and other such behaviors…"

12:12

"Yes, the Lord has always taught us to be kind and restrained. Our New City of Silver strictly cracks down on all kinds of crimes, especially guarding against theft, fraud and other such behaviors…"

The half-giant youth opened up and began to talk endlessly about how Mr. Fool originally sent an Angel to save the City of Silver, how he gave the City of Silver this promised land, and how they, the people of the City of Silver, built the New City of Silver.

Lumian had heard these stories repeatedly when drinking in the New City of Silver before, but he wasn't impatient now, letting the half-giant youth continue his smooth narration.

He heard happiness of peace and tranquility in the other's description.

In this exchange, the two arrived at the Twin Towers, the core buildings of the New City of Silver. The left tower had a pointed top and housed public facilities such as the library, while the right tower had a round top and was where the six-member council that governed the New City of Silver worked.

Lumian instinctively turned his gaze towards the round tower and noticed that in the cracks between the bricks near the ground, tufts of black hair-like plants had grown out, sometimes drooping, sometimes swaying lightly as if blown by a gentle breeze.

When he came last time, Lumian had also noticed these black plants but didn't pay much attention. This time, however, he felt a kind of blood connection.

We are all parts or rather continuations of the life of the Goddess of Harvest, Omebella!

Even when sealed, does a Grade 0 Sealed Artifact still have some influence on the outside world? Lumian withdrew his gaze and followed the half-giant youth into the pointed tower.

They walked on large black stone slabs, passing huge pillars, and came to the library on the third floor.

In front of the intimidating bookshelves stood a tall man wearing a simple white robe.

The man was over two meters tall, with neatly combed brownish-yellow hair. He looked only about 22 or 23 years old, but had a very calm demeanor and an overwhelming aura. He was clearly Mr. Sun, whom Lumian had met last time, one of the top figures of the Church of The Fool.

"Elder Berg, Ms. Lumina is here," the half-giant youth said respectfully.

Mr. Sun, whose name was Derrick Berg, looked at Lumian and nodded, saying, "Follow me."

Lumian politely replied, "Thank you."

The half-giant youth then waved and walked towards the door. After a few steps, he turned around and called out to Lumian's back, "My name is Rugest!"

After saying this, Rugest quickly turned and ran down the stairs.

Lumian followed Mr. Sun deep into the New City of Silver library, entering the innermost secret room where a stack of documents made up of scattered records was placed.

"These are all the records regarding the 'Gift of the Land'. I have already translated them into ancient Feysac for you," Mr. Sun said simply, sitting down in a position against the wall and falling silent, as if he had turned into a statue.

Lumian understood this was to guard against any accidents that might occur while he was reading the materials, so he nodded lightly, sat down at the table, and picked up the stack of new papers.

He read very slowly, taking nearly half an hour to roughly understand the relationship between the Goddess of Harvest, Omebella, and the City of Silver.

In the Second Epoch, in the era when the ancient gods ruled the earth and sky, the City of Silver belonged to the Giant King's Court, and all its people were slaves to the giants.

But unlike other human vassal powers of the Giant King's Court, the City of Silver's situation was considerably better, because they believed in and followed the subsidiary god of the Giant King, the ancient god, the Giant Queen, the Goddess of Harvest—Omebella.

According to the City of Silver's records, the Giant Queen Omebella had descended to their city multiple times, displaying two images.

One image corresponded to light and goodness, with "the harvest's grace, life's precious embrace" as the core of faith, viewing the people of the City of Silver as Her own children, always ensuring bountiful harvests, abundant reproduction of livestock and poultry, and rapid population growth. This was the main reason why the people of City of Silver rarely suffered innocent slaughter and did not lack food.

The other would bring desolation and death. At that time, all the people of Certain Death knew phrases like "extreme harvest is inevitably accompanied by extreme desolation", "only life can quell the land's wrath", "death, like new life, is a common and beautiful thing, not to be feared", "we have accepted the land's gifts, so we must pay the corresponding price".

If Omebella descended in this form, She would inevitably demand bloody sacrifices, with large numbers of humans as offerings. Even if the people of the City of Silver did these things, sacrificing their own relatives, they would sometimes still suffer famines lasting up to a year—if they didn't do so, the famine might last three to five years.

Is this what the era ruled by ancient gods was like? Even the City of Silver, which was relatively well off, was like this… Lumian turned to the next page.

This page recorded the Giant King's Court's words of praise for the Giant Queen Omebella. What caught Lumian's attention most was one sentence: "The noble Queen used Her maternal nature to help the great King calm His emotions…"

What does this mean? Maternal nature… helping the Giant King—this ancient god—expel excess Beyonder characteristics and regain some sanity by giving birth to children? Lumian pondered as he continued reading.

After another fifteen minutes, he turned to the stage of the Giant King's Court's rapid decline.

The City of Silver, which had obtained another divine-level Sealed Artifact, had learned of the fall of the ancient god, the Giant King and feared falling into the hands of the more brutal Devil Monarch.

In such anxiety and unease, on a night without the crimson moon, the Giant Queen Omebella appeared outside the City of Silver.

This time, She did not descend directly, but walked over step by step.

She was in poor condition. She asked the believers of the City of Silver to perform a ritual, sacrificing half of their people to help Her replenish Her life force.

The record of the subsequent situation was vague, but the result was clear: "That night, man slew god, subject slew ruler, child slew mother."

In other words, the bizarrely resurrected Omebella finally died at the hands of the betraying believers of the City of Silver? Lumian wasn't too surprised.

After that day, the City of Silver discovered that Omebella's remains didn't have Beyonder characteristics in the true sense, but still possessed powerful force and terrifying authority. They completely buried this history, hid this secret, and even after converting to belief in the Ancient Sun God, they didn't tell that Lord the true origin of the divine-level Sealed Artifact, Gift of the Land, until Mr. Fool's Angel of Redemption came to save them.

At this point, all records of Omebella—the Goddess of Harvest—ended. Next came information about the Sealed Artifact—Gift of the Land.

"Gift of the Land can naturally create an edible plant in any environment and promote its growth, reproduction, and abundant harvest within a fifty-kilometer range.

"Gift of the Land will turn all dead humans within a fifty-kilometer range into terrible evil spirits, unless that human died by being murdered by a direct relative. Those who have eaten the food it creates and have a strong connection with it will turn into evil spirits within three hundred kilometers…"

Seeing this record different from the official Sealed Artifact description, Lumian suddenly raised his head and looked at Mr. Sun sitting by the wall.

He asked in confusion, "Every dead human will turn into an evil spirit?

"Even those who were below Sequence 5 in life?"

As far as Lumian knew, evil spirits were the strongest among soul creatures. Even the weakest should be at the level of Sequence 5, while the strong ones could be equivalent to demigods.

"Yes." Mr. Sun nodded steadily.

Wh— the ability of the Gift of the Land is terrifying. This is equivalent to being able to mass-produce Sequence 5 Beyonders, some of whom should even be demigods… Is this what a Grade 0 Sealed Artifact is? Lumian subconsciously began to evaluate from a combat power perspective.

He probed, "What's the maximum number of dead humans that can turn into evil spirits at one time?"

"We've never tried," Mr. Sun replied with a solemn expression.

Lumian suddenly realized and quickly apologized, "I apologize for my rudeness."

He continued reading the materials about the divine-level Sealed Artifact; in the New City of Silver, Grade 0 Sealed Artifacts were called divine-level Sealed Artifacts.

    (20) Chapter 904: Driving

After quickly reviewing the information, Jenna couldn't believe it and exclaimed:

"Mr. Fool's identity in the dream is so ordinary."

You can't tell at all that he is a great existence!

"What do we do next?" Franca looked at Lumian, "Look for an opportunity to contact Mr. Fool?"

The information had clearly outlined Zhou Mingrui's daily routine, who was known as the Fool in the dream. If Lumian and his team weren't too unlucky, they would soon meet and interact with the Fool.

Previously, when she saw the name Zhou Mingrui, Franca's heart suddenly skipped a beat.

She hadn't expected that the Fool in the dream would use such a name that was not from the North-South continent but rather very close to the style of her home country's position before she crossed over.

Of course, this was consistent with the current city situation. If Zhou Mingrui 's name belonged to the Celestial Worthy and not the Fool, Franca could understand and accept it more easily because the title "Fortunate Mysterious Yellow Heavenly Lord" was the style of her home country before crossing over.

Could it be that the Celestial Worthy is so dominant that even the Dreamer's city in the dream is similar to my homeland, and he uses a name like Zhou Mingrui? Franca wondered internally. Lumian thought for a few seconds and said:

"Let's not contact the Fool immediately. Let's observe the people around him and the situation for a few days."

As the team leader, Lumian didn't just give orders; he explained simply:

"The Fool is definitely being closely monitored by that Celestial Worthy. If we contact him carelessly, it's easy to be noticed by the Celestial Worthy, who might identify us and kick us out of the dream.

"Moreover, although the Judjment provided information on the Fool's usual routine and frequent contacts, I still want to observe for a while myself. It's not that I don't trust the Major Arcana's abilities and thinking, but I feel that they might know too much and could be misled by excessive information, preventing them from noticing small hidden issues."

"Understood, cautious as always." Franca summed up Lumian's thoughts with a term that fit the current dream world's style.

    Lumian nodded slightly:

"Some of the people mentioned in the information might no longer be in contact with the Fool, but I will still observe them to find possible similarities and differences."

"Then let's first go to one of the rental places marked on the map to settle down." Jenna took out a city map from her light brown briefcase.

The marked locations were all close to the Fool's current residence, visible from a distance but not too close to the small residential area.

"I have no objections." Franca said casually, "I'll call a car."

As she spoke, she reached into the pocket of her red coat, fumbled a few times, and then realized:

"No phone. ." She immediately suggested:

"Let's buy five cheap phones nearby, no, four, plus a sturdy wristwatch.

"Without phones, living in this city would be very painful and inconvenient. Sometimes, using a phone is better than relying on extraordinary abilities, which could easily expose our identities. I think the previous holder of the golden luck might have overlooked this aspect, hurried to contact the Fool, and was soon discovered by the Heavenly Lord, who kicked them out of the dream."

"Okay." Lumian agreed while eating roasted heart with Ludwig, nodding gently.

    He looked around and asked:

"So, where should we go to buy them?" Franca smiled:

"Let me borrow the `Lie' ear clip for a bit."

After putting on the silver-white ear clip, she adjusted her hair and eye color, slightly changed her nose and face shape, and immediately blended into the style of the surrounding passersby, still carrying a hint of mixed-race look.

At this moment, a chubby young man walked by. Franca approached him quickly, smiling and saying:

"Could you help me with something?"

The man, dazzled by her beautiful smile and face, blurted out:

    "What is it?"

Franca said somewhat bashfully: "I lost my phone, can you. ."

The chubby young man instinctively took out his phone, then snapped back to his senses and asked cautiously:

"You don't want to borrow my phone to make a call, do you?"

Such an old trick! Franca sighed and said:

"I just want to borrow some money for food."

Before the man could respond, she smiled again:

"Just kidding, why would I use such an old trick to scam people?

"I just want to ask where there's a store or phone shop nearby. If you don't know, could you check on your phone for me?"

No problem if the phone stays in my hand... The man cautiously checked, then seriously gave Franca directions.

Franca waved her hand, smiling: "Thanks a lot!"

The man, once again dazed, suddenly asked:

"Do you want to be a star or a host?"

"Are you a talent scout or from an MCN company?" Franca asked curiously.

She hadn't chatted with someone like this for a long time. The young man regained his composure, smiled awkwardly, and said:

"It's not that, but if I could sign you, I'd want to be a talent scout, or open an MCN company if I wanted to!

"Beauty, give me your phone number."

Franca finally understood that this guy was beating around the bush to compliment her looks; everything before was just a prelude, the real point came after.

Tsk, tsk, people these days... Back when I played script killing, there weren't this many clichés. Franca sighed silently and said earnestly:

"Didn't I tell you? I lost my phone, and I had to change my number."

After speaking, she didn't give him a chance to reminisce, waved her hand, and jogged back to where Lumian and the others were.

The chubby young man watched her leave, enviously muttering:

    "A bunch of two-dimensional people..."

Half an hour later, Franca led Lumian and the others out of the nearest store and onto the street.

They had used Miss "Justice" ID card and cash to buy four phones, one unofficial kids' smartwatch, and five SIM cards, spending a total of 2400 yuan.

Except for Franca, who was constantly tapping the screen, Ludwig occasionally licking his own kids' smartwatch, Lumian, Jenna, and Anthony were just holding them like bricks, temporarily not knowing how to use them.

"I'll teach you all once we settle down!" Franca said, after locking the ID cards, attached bank cards, and corresponding apps, without going nearby to find a business room or ATM to save money, directly borrowing a small loan, and started hailing a taxi.

At this moment, a motorcycle roared past, almost brushing against her as it sped by, the wind hitting her face.

Franca angrily looked at the motorcycle and cursed softly:

"Racing on the street, rushing to reincarnate?"

As soon as she finished, the motorcycle swerved to avoid a light moving company truck, heading to the side, only to find a pit dug for road repairs ahead, surrounded by yellow metal barriers.

The motorcycle emergency-braked, "bang" hitting a utility pole by the roadside, causing the cement pole to visibly shake.

Accompanied by this noise, parts of the motorcycle flew everywhere.

Franca stared in shock, muttering to herself:

    "It's not my fault..."

Even though the "Demoness" was indeed good at cursing, it wasn't done through words!

Just as she was about to call emergency services and check if the rider could be saved, the helmeted person stood up unscathed, pushing the severely deformed motorcycle away from the scene.

"That person is fine?" Franca exclaimed in surprise.

A thought flashed in her mind, and she and Lumian simultaneously whispered:

    "Extraordinary?"

Lumian then said to Jenna and the others: "Let's go take a look."

Taking advantage of the green light, they crossed the intersection to the accident site, seeing the utility pole partially cracked.

Lumian glanced at the ground, squatted down, and pulled out a rather ordinary-looking white paper figure from a nearby flower bed.

The paper figure was torn to pieces.

"A paper substitute? Was that helmeted person from the 'Seer' path?" Franca quickly speculated.

Jenna frowned slightly and said, "Celestial Worthy subordinate?"

"Possible. Later, we can use 'Dream Divination' to recall his appearance," Lumian nodded, putting the paper figure back and quietly using the "Demoness's" black flame to erase his traces.

    Franca mumbled:

"That person didn't look like an extraordinary from the 'Seer' path, yet they were racing and had an accident on the street. Which 'Seer' isn't cautious and full of tricks?"

In the trench, she used her phone to book a car.

Soon, a white car stopped in front of them.

Although Franca had already explained the difference between internal combustion engine cars and new energy electric vehicles, sitting inside one, Jenna and Lumian were still a bit awestruck.

Even the most common new energy electric rental car was full of luxury, as if everywhere it wrote "Civilization" and "Technology."

Anthony sat in the front passenger seat, while Jenna, Franca, and Lumian, holding Ludwig, squeezed into the back, but even so, it wasn't too crowded.

The air conditioning's cool breeze dispelled the summer heat, and the car took Franca, Lumian, and the others to their destination in just over twenty minutes.

As they got out, Anthony signaled Lumian to check out the driver.

Lumian walked to the car door, looked closely, and saw the driver had a relatively wide forehead, a thin face, short curly black hair, dark eyes, and a monocle in his right eye socket.

    Amon!

The suspected Amon driver seemed to recognize Lumian, waved with a smile, then started the car and disappeared at the end of the road.

"Amon?" Franca and Jenna also clearly saw the driver's appearance. "How did he get in? Did the 'Fool' create a false image in the dream?"

"It should be real, he obviously recognized me," Lumian replied in a deep voice.

    Franca exhaled and comforted, saying:

"It's okay, madam 'Magician' said that in making the Celestial Worthy sleep and awakening the 'Fool', that one is on our side."

Lumian looked at the intersection where the car had disappeared and said in a low voice:

"But Madam 'Magician' also said that “He” might not want the 'Fool' to awaken too early."

    (19) Chapter 903: Familiar Everywhere

After the platform disappeared from view, Lumian observed the situation inside the train car.

The seats were made of wood, the windows narrow, letting in insufficient light. The other passengers seemed to be interacting, yet there was no sound, as if they were performing a mime.

Experiencing this for the first time, Jenna and Anthony were similarly quietly observing everything around them. Ludwig, meanwhile, was both painfully and intently eating illusory snacks, while Franca, feeling somewhat downcast, leaned against the side of the car, gazing out at the scenery:

Large expanses of farmland and lush green fields quickly retreated, interspersed with old castles and classical villages, beautiful enough to resemble a painting.

As time passed, Franca saw frost condense into a row of palaces, saw houses floating above the clouds, and saw pairs of glass shoes dancing in the distance on a square.

The outside scene of the steam train began to turn dreamlike, as if formed by merging various fairy tales.

Before long, the black-colored steam train drove into a fog, making it impossible to see anything outside the window.

Lumian and the others instinctively tightened their grip on the gold coin in their hands, maintaining silence, worried that any unnecessary movement might prevent them from entering the "Fool's" dreamscape.

In the thick, dreamlike fog, the black steam train roared forward.

It was unclear when, but Lumian felt the clanging sound of the train wheels on the tracks grow fainter until it disappeared.

Suddenly, a female voice rang in their ears:

    "Does anyone want something?

"Boxed meals, snacks, ice cream cups, specialty drinks, dried beef."

Franca straightened up abruptly, her expression a mix of surprise and confusion.

She suddenly stood up, turned her body around, and looked toward the entrance of the carriage. She saw a woman in a white shirt, a reddish-purple long skirt, and a matching soft hat pushing a multi-tiered metal cart toward them.

On the cart were various colorful items displayed on different tiers, in strange containers and folded lunch boxes.

Franca instinctively glanced at both sides of the cart, noticing that the previously hazy passengers had become incredibly clear. They wore clothes that frequently appeared in her dreams, either quietly playing with different brands of phones or whispering to their companions, occasionally interrupted by a child's cry.

This was a scene Franca had dreamt of seeing again, but encountering it in this context now made her shiver with an inexplicable fear.

"Is this the 'Fool's' dreamscape?" she wondered aloud.

    Lumian followed suit, whispering:

"Have you forgotten the Celestial Worthy?

"He also comes from this world, so it’s normal for scenes corresponding to his participation in the dreamscape to appear."

"That's true..." Franca smiled self-deprecatingly. "I was too excited, too scared to notice that."

    Indeed, this was very normal!

This was also the dreamscape of that slumbering Celestial Worthy!

Jenna stood up, looked around for a few seconds, and said:

"In other words, we've already entered the 'Fool's' dreamscape?"

As she spoke, she opened her right hand and found that in addition to the glittering gold coin, there was now a train ticket, on which was written:

    "Ningbei -- Yangdu"

Although Jenna only recognized the numbers on the ticket, it didn't prevent her from understanding the meaning of the strange characters. Similarly, the other passengers sitting on the opposite side of the aisle seemed to understand her Intisian language, looking at them curiously but feeling it was normal upon noticing their strange clothes, thus withdrawing their gaze.

    — According to the explanation given by Madam "Magician" earlier, in the "Fool's" dreamscape, there was no need to worry about language barriers, as communication was fundamentally occurring with the "Fool's" subconscious, which possessed all languages.

Of course, being able to intuitively understand the meaning of unfamiliar characters didn't mean one could deeply comprehend them. Jenna had previously worried about this, but madam "Magician" reassured them. Now, Jenna finally understood why madam "Magician" wasn't concerned about this issue:

These characters were familiar to Franca, making her the most reliable translator!

"Probably." Lumian carefully put away the lucky gold coin, holding only the train ticket.

Jenna paid attention to the other passengers who could understand their group’s conversation and asked Franca in a very low voice:

“What are those people holding in their hands? It looks very strange.”

Lumian immediately leaned against the window and used "Bottle of Fiction" to place their group in two rows of seats inside it, while making the screen transparent.

Franca became a bit more enthusiastic, completely forgetting the previous confusion and shock, and introduced with a smile:

“That’s a phone, a product of scientific development. It integrates telecommunications, theatrical performances, signal transmission effects, and has many more functions you can’t even imagine. I’ll get a few for you later and teach you how to use them. It’s too complicated to explain right now!”

As she spoke, Franca was already quite proud:

“That’s a t-shirt, those are jeans, and those are sneakers...”

Before she could finish, Ludwig started complaining:

“I want a lunchbox, I want snacks, I want an ice cream, I want drinks, I want beef jerky!”

The little boy swallowed his saliva, completely forgetting the fact that the food in his dream was all fake.

“Uh, madam ‘Magician’ advised us to follow the law as much as possible,” Franca looked at Lumian, “I remember Miss ‘Justice’ put cash in the briefcase.”

Lumian opened the briefcase and took out a stack of brand-new, bright red cash, and released the "Bottle of Fiction."

“Everyone gets two thousand yuan.” He told his companions.

“Still good.” Franca nodded, then looked at Ludwig with a pained expression, “This kid’s daily food expenses alone are over a thousand...”

And that’s if he doesn’t eat anything unusual!

“There’s always a way to make money.” Lumian spent two hundred yuan to buy five lunchboxes.

After struggling for a moment, Franca said:

“Give them all to Ludwig. Although I really want to savor the delicious food from my memories, we shouldn’t waste money here. There will be better choices later.”

After placing all five lunchboxes in front of Ludwig, Jenna asked in a low voice:

“Can we look at the ‘Fool`s’ identity information in the dream now?”

She noticed many passengers around them were secretly glancing at her and Franca, so she sat down again.

Lumian thought for a moment and said:

“It’s not our stop yet. Let’s wait a bit and check after we get off at the destination station.”

    Better to be cautious!

While speaking, Lumian took out a mirror and slipped it between the gap in the seats where Ludwig was leaning.

He wanted to use reflection magic to hide Ludwig’s exaggerated appetite of eating five lunchboxes in one go.

He had noticed someone secretly pointing a phone at Franca earlier and his intuition told him it’s better not to let anything unusual happen in front of the public.

“Isn’t there any noise on this train?” Jenna started chatting with Franca.

    Franca laughed boastfully:

“Of course, this is the latest model of the train, and it’s extremely fast!”

She pointed to the screen at the front of the carriage, which displayed the real-time speed, using numbers and symbols familiar to Jenna.

    “Thank you, Emperor Roselle!”

Franca passionately introduced everything that left Lumian, Jenna, and Anthony feeling confused and occasionally corrected their misunderstandings, such as:

“Isn’t this place more open than Trier? I can see bare arms and legs...”

“No, no, we’re far behind Trier. This is just casual clothing, and it doesn’t offend anyone in public. It’s civilized and respectful. In private, it’s not as open as Trier!”

“Do we look too strange now?”

“Don’t worry, just say we’re going to an Anime exhibition!”

    “What’s an Anime exhibition?”

    “...”

During such conversations, the train finally drove out of the fog, revealing a towering city with countless skyscrapers, each seemingly as tall as a mountain, covered with crystal walls that glittered gold in the sunlight.

Lumian and Jenna instinctively held their breath, as if they were approaching a divine land.

That’s a miracle on earth, that’s the city on the peak!

Franca also stopped her explanations, her blue eyes staring at the city with an expression of nostalgia and sadness.

The train gradually slowed down and entered the city, finally stopping at a clean, bright, and spacious platform.

The other passengers in the carriage suddenly disappeared, as if the intertwined people could no longer sustain themselves. After exchanging glances with each other, Lumian and Franca’s group, holding Ludwig’s hand, got off the train, followed by the “strangely dressed” Jenna, Franca, and Anthony.

They joined the large number of passengers from the other carriages and left the platform via an escalator, following Franca’s lead, eventually exiting the station and entering a deserted square outside.

As the surrounding people gradually dispersed, Lumian took out Miss “Justice” light brown briefcase and pulled out the information related to the “Fool’s” identity in the dream, unfolding it for his companions to see.

Franca immediately noticed the information began with a name written in her native language:

    “Zhou Mingrui”

    (18) Chapter 902: The Final Stage

Lumian hadn't yet had the chance to use meditation to fall asleep when his vision suddenly darkened, and it felt as though an invisible force was pulling him downwards, straight towards the depths of the earth.

He instinctively resisted a little, then experienced a sensation akin to surfacing from the bottom of a gloomy sea.

Before his eyes, a twilight glow shone through countless small panes of giant crystal, bringing a limited light into the darkness.

In this dim light, Lumian saw a row of black steamships with two oil lamps hanging from them, a domed and enclosed platform, and on the edge of the platform, near the steamships, stood a woman in a white gown embroidered with gold threads and a wide-brimmed sun hat—a "Magician."

Beside the "Magician" stood a woman in an elegant green dress, accompanied by a large golden-haired dog.

Seeing this woman in the green dress, Lumian felt a surge of surprise and doubt:

    Another "Demoness"?

Does the "Tarot Club" have another "Demoness"?

"How beautiful," Lumian heard Franca's soft, admiring voice in his ear, "But she doesn't look like a 'Demoness,' her demeanor is different unless she is a rank 3 'Unaging Demoness.'"

Hearing this, Lumian also noticed something similar:

The woman in the green dress had long, smooth, golden hair, part of which was tied into a bun while the rest cascaded down. Her green eyes were like the most beautiful gemstones, yet as serene as if they could reflect the depths of a person's soul. Her features were exceptionally delicate, her beauty rivaling that of any "Demoness," and her noble demeanor was tinged with a hint of youthful purity and clarity.

Such a demeanor was very rare among the ranks below rank 3 "Demonesses." At least, Lumian and Franca had never encountered it.

Additionally, Lumian noticed that looking at this woman did not evoke the usual desire he felt when facing other "Demonesses." Instead, he felt a calm, warm, and reassuring presence.

This familiar feeling stirred Lumian's intuitive sense, prompting him to recall certain memories.

Given the "Magician's" previous remarks, he quickly made a judgment:

    "Good evening, 'Justice'!"

The woman with the noble yet youthful demeanor in the green dress must be the Major Arcana "Justice," one of his "Psychologists"!

"Good evening, 'Justice'," echoed Anthony as the second to speak.

Following Franca's and Jenna's polite greetings to "Justice," Franca's eyes suddenly widened.

She pointed at Lumian and exclaimed:

"Why have you turned back into a man?"

Uh... Lumian instinctively examined himself and found that he was no longer wearing the black cloak, his chest was flat again, and he was dressed in a white shirt, black vest, and dark trousers as before.

Meanwhile, Franca was still in her frilled floral blouse and beige trousers, with a red jacket, her chest prominent, and her ponytail swinging lightly—she still looked like a "Demoness."

At this moment, "Justice" spoke with a clear, smiling voice:

"This is entering a true dreamscape, different from the usual dream state.

"When using the dream-entering charm, the body becomes semi-transparent, directly entering the dreamscape as it is; the usual dreaming is determined by the recognition at that time, and the dream image may be the current self, the past self, or even a mutated self. However, in a true dreamscape, if one can maintain clarity, the image presented is the subconscious recognition of oneself.

"In other words, 'Seven of Wands' subconsciously still sees himself as a male."

I see. Lumian felt both relieved and a bit disappointed.

    Franca blurted out:

"What about me? Why am I still..."

She suddenly fell silent, as if struck by lightning, losing part of her soul.

    "Justice" gently comforted her:

"Accepting the present doesn't mean forgetting the past. As long as you remember who you were, remember the life you had, reconciling with the current body won't lead you to lose control. The 'Acting Rules' of the Demoness Sect may not suit everyone; this depends on one's personality and experiences.

    "Remember, every person is unique."

Franca opened her mouth but couldn't speak, her emotions still somewhat downcast.

Jenna quietly extended her right hand, holding Franca's hand.

Just after arriving in Trier, Lumian, despite his circumstances, did not mock Franca for saying he was a real man, yet he didn't realize that he was already acting like a woman. At the moment, he observed the platform situation.

This was no different from the usual steam train station, with an overpass bridge, stairs leading to different platforms.

At this time, on the overpass border, there was a robust figure leaning on the railing, looking this way. The black coat was slightly raised, and the hand seemed to be wearing a red glove.

On the stairs leading to the platform, there was a woman in a complex dark dress leading four heads, openly inspecting below. On the opposite platform's staircase, there was a little boy with a silver bow fetching water. At the end of the stairs, just after meeting Lumian not long ago, Mr. Azik was holding a felt hat, quietly staring at the black steam train.

On that platform waiting bench, "Knight of Sword" Maric and half-god Sharon of the restrained faction were sitting there, motionless, as if they were puppets being watched by the crowd.

Lumian withdrew his gaze and discovered that the blond dog next to the "Justice" lady was wearing glasses, carrying a small brown bag, looking very gentle and scholarly.

Lumian suddenly recalled seeing a large dog and a feminine figure after his first psychological therapy session at Mason's café.

It turns out that was the "Justice" lady. It's a pity Miss Susie didn't join this mission in "The Fool's" dreamscape, otherwise, he could have thanked her in person. Lumian regretfully shifted his gaze back to the "Justice" lady and the "Magician" lady.

The "Justice" lady smiled and said to him:

"Because you have actually become the 'Despair Demoness,' your subconscious knows this point, so you can freely switch between your subconscious image and your real appearance, which can help you make a perfect disguise in the dream and play a crucial role in key scenes."

Why can't I... Franca silently lamented.

    Lumian nodded in understanding:

"Relying on 'Delusion' can't disguise well? Because it only meets the criteria of Sequence 7, and 'Delusion' corresponds to the pathway of 'Faceless' at Sequence 6, which can adjust appearance and body shape?"

"Yes, the Sequence 7 standard 'Delusion' can only adjust appearance to a certain degree, equivalent to the best makeup techniques." The "Justice" lady nodded slightly and tilted her head towards the blond dog beside her, "Susie, do you have anything to say to them?"

Susie... Lumian's eyebrows twitched, and he suddenly shifted his gaze to the blond dog wearing glasses and carrying a small bag.

The dog, with a familiar voice, said:

"What I need to tell you is that 'The Fool' is very cautious and careful, not easily trusting others."

Hearing the blond dog speak, except for Anthony and Ludwig, Lumian and the others were all surprised and astonished. If the blond dog hadn't been called "Susie," Lumian would not have been so shocked by an animal speaking human words.

After a brief silence, Lumian adjusted his mindset and sincerely said:

"Thank you for your reminder, and also for your previous treatment, Miss Susie. And thank you, 'Justice' lady."

Even after seeing a child eating a demon's eye, what's so strange about a talking dog?

If they are really from Trier, they might actually be real people who just like to be dogs, so they found a way to turn themselves into dogs!

Lumian suddenly said to the "Magician" lady and the "Justice" lady:

"I have one more question. What is 'The Fool's' identity in the dream?"

Upon waking, 'The Fool' must come into contact with his dream self!

After exchanging glances, the "Justice" lady and the "Magician" lady took out a light brown parchment bag, wrapped with delicate soft string:

"This contains the relevant information about 'The Fool's' identity in the dream, but you must enter that dreamscape to open it.

"There is also cash, identity papers, and a map prepared for you inside."

Lumian took the parchment bag and pointed to the black steam train stopping next to the platform:

    "Take that train?"

"Yes, once you get on, I will have it drive to the edge of this dream world. You must hold onto the lucky gold coin tightly. When the train reaches the edge of the dream world, it will help you enter 'The Fool's' dream. The first time must be this complicated, then you can normally enter and exit that dream with the lucky gold coin." The "Justice" lady explained simply.

Lumian looked at Jenna, Franca, Anthony, and Ludwig, nodded slightly at the two Major Arcana:

    "We can board now."

The black steam train was no different from the usual ones seen in Trier. The five of them occupied seats in the same row. The other passengers around were vague, blurry, and seemed to be woven from the laziness of those who created this dream.

Through the window, they saw the "Magician" lady and the "Justice" lady waving at them.

Instinctively waving back, Lumian and the others heard a high-pitched sound:

    "D!"

Accompanied by the sound of the steam whistle, the rumbling sound increased, from slow to fast, from relaxed to hurried, and the scenery outside the window gradually retreated.

The black steam train carrying Lumian, Franca, Jenna, Anthony, and Ludwig drove out of the platform, heading towards the misty dreamland.

At the same time, a train stops at a high-speed rail station in the city.

One of the carriages slowly opens, but there are only four to five people inside. They form a stark contrast with the crowd in the other carriages.

Those few people are dressed as if they’re going to a comic convention. After exchanging a glance, they stand up and walk out with heavy footsteps.

What they see is an extremely modern platform and crowds of people.

CF ended lotm so well!! it seems like CF might take the appearance of the major arcana holders, he had warned klein using xio’s appearance that he was being trailed or atleast i assume it was CF. it doesn’t seem like he had major impact on klein’s personality… what i thought to be a funny side story was in fact important!! now, the end of LoTM and COI are chronologically equal
