Chapter 2217: Final Stand |
...
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A huge series of explosions erupted right after the two sides clashed against each other.
The huge lightning arcs cut through the incoming snowstorm, but they did not get that far after entering quite deep into it. Some of them froze and shattered under the extreme cold, while the others slowly dissipated after exhausting their power and momentum.
However, due to the destructive nature of these lightning arcs and their repeated bombardment, the massive snowstorm that was trying to reach Shin had slowly lost their moment and gradually weakened after the clash between the two sides.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
Boom!
However, Shin and Leviathan refused to back down and continued their assault.
Leviathan was already reaching his limit because of his repeated usage of the demonic orb. Adding to that the extreme might of the [Permafrost] sword in his hand, the burden was further doubled, rapidly draining his energy.
All he had to do was hold for a bit longer, buying a bit more time for the Demonic Formation to achieve its main purpose.
Unfortunately for Leviathan, Shin would be able to last a bit longer due to his monstrous willpower. His current state might be exhausting him quite rapidly, especially when he activated his strongest state in the process.
The triple elemental possession was still fine, but when he added both the Reality Manifestation and the activation of Nephilim’s Wings in the mix, the burden would surely drain his willpower quite fast.
There were also his Natural State and the Heart Realm Technique, which also required him to spend more concentration and willpower.
Finally, the Ninth Movement of the Jade Kirin Scripture was extremely high-level. It was so advanced that it was already approaching the threshold of the Ruler Realm in terms of Mentalism. He was only able to use this technique due to the collective strength of all the cards he had at hand.
However, despite how draining all these were, they were still within his current limit. Especially when they were currently within the Aurora Continent.
If it was in the Awakened Continent, where the concentration of mana in the air was extremely dense and hard to control, then he would not be able to last this long. Once would already be his absolute limit for using such a highly advanced technique.
Shin maintained the skill for quite a while, waiting until the snowstorm had finally lost most of its momentum before finally making his next move.
Swoosh!
Crackle! Crackle!
Shin disappeared, turning into a streak of lightning that dove into the incoming snowstorm.
He had coated his body with the Primordial Lightning and Psychic Shadow to protect himself from the extreme cold during his flight.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
At the same time, he had exhausted all three charges of his ’Moonlight Steps’ in certain intervals to maximize the unique features of the skill while also further hastening his speed.
Whoosh!
Leviathan naturally sensed Shin’s movements almost instantly. He immediately responded to it as fast as he could, flicking his wrist to tug the [Permafrost] and make its whip blade be pulled back to his side.
Along with this, he also tried his best to gather the already scattered energy of the snowstorm due to the earlier bombardment of the lightning storm. He wanted to concentrate the remaining energy at a single point, which was the path that Shin was taking.
Unfortunately, Shin had already put everything into consideration before making his move earlier.
He had purposely concentrated the explosions of earlier attacks at a certain area, which would become the weakest part of the snowstorm. This would then become the path that he was currently taking right now.
Even if Leviathan managed to respond in time, it would still take him quite some time before he was able to properly gather all the scattered energies and reestablish the might of his snowstorm.
Swoosh!
Crackle! Crackle!
Given Shin’s current speed, which was further augmented by the energies of the Primordial Lightning, he was able to reach Leviathan almost instantly.
Whoosh!
While striking with his sword forward, Shin’s figure completely materialized before Leviathan, who was currently wearing an extremely solemn expression on his face.
Clank!
The [Yamato] might had been blocked by the flexible blade of the [Permafrost] in Leviathan’s hand, but it was clear that the latter was currently under extreme pressure.
"Caught you, finally!" said Shin while staring straight at the other party.
His body was currently filled with some frost flakes, covering some parts of his armor. Even the [Nephilim’s Gemini Mask] was also half-frozen by the demonic cold energy.
However, the air surrounding Shin was still incredibly heavy. The pressure that he was passively emitting was so overwhelming that Leviathan had started to crumble under it.
Swoosh! Swoosh!
Almost instantly, both sides moved.
Shin swiftly turned the sheath in his left hand back to its Meteor Form, turning it into the legendary sword [Durendal] once again.
Swoosh!
Right after, Solus possessed the sword once again; the wave of gorgeous flames swiftly spread from his arm to his entire body, melting all the traces of frost flakes covering his body.
He then swung the [Durendal] and [Yamato] at Leviathan, producing arcs of flames and lightning trailing behind each of his strikes.
Swoosh! Swoosh!
Shin did not have to use any fancy or too powerful techniques at this moment. Just the ’Phoenix Dance’ and ’Lightning Gale’ Techniques were more than enough for this kind of melee battle.
He had also incorporated both techniques into his signature ’Infinity Edge’ combat technique, creating a stunning sight to unfold.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Leviathan was trying his best to defend himself with the help of the [Permafrost] sword. The long and flexible blade of the sword circled his body, repeatedly clashing against the two swords of his opponent, while also constantly releasing intense cold aura that was trying to freeze everything.
Unfortunately, no matter how hard Leviathan tried, he was still no match against Shin in a melee battle. Even if his current stats were quite high due to the multiple enhancements that he had, they were still far from being enough to survive his current predicament.
Moreover, his mind was also already reaching its limit. He could no longer hold out that long, especially with both the Demonic Orb and the [Permafrost] sword greatly draining his willpower.
"D*mn it!" he could only curse when he realized that the situation was not looking good.
He was still trying to hold on, attempting to buy a bit more time to complete the full activation of the demonic formation.
Unfortunately, Shin would never give him that chance.
Realizing that the situation was already beyond salvation, Leviathan could only take another gamble. "Since I can’t escape failure, then I will at least take you down with me!"
He was truly desperate this time, so he could only be satisfied with the best choice that he currently had at hand, which was to sacrifice himself while trying to drag Shin with him.
He knew that there was no hope in capturing Shin either, so he could only settle for the second best that he might be able to achieve.
Once Shin died alongside him, he would at least be able to hurt the latter’s fountain due to the demonic curse that the players usually hand when dying in the hands of a demonic player and being corrupted by their demonic powers.
He would also be able to slow the progress of this monster, which would somehow alleviate the bitter feeling he would have afterward, especially given the serious damage he would suffer after flopping this operation.
The only thing that truly hurt him was the loss of the items that would be guaranteed to drop once he died, which were the Demonic Orb and the [Permafrost], which was a sealed legendary sword that he had gotten from completing a special quest paying a heavy price.
Unfortunately, there was no other way to escape the current situation aside from sacrificing all these.
’I at least will be able to drag this monster with me and hurt his foundation within the game,’ he thought, trying to soothe his feelings from these losses.
When he firmed his resolve, he immediately used one of the skills attached to his weapon.
Boom!
A thick cold mist suddenly spread from every direction, engulfing Shin and Leviathan within an instant.
The latter did not even give Shin any time to react and solidified the cold mist, locking Shin and himself in ice.
Shin could not help but raise his brows when he saw this, especially when he realized that all skills in the panel had greyed out, indicating that he was currently in a silenced state.
Even if he tried to manipulate his mana and used the powers of the Primordial Lightning and Eternal Flame, he was still unable to get rid of the ice that was rapidly sealing him.
Seeing him struggle, Leviathan laughed and took the initiative to explain. "This is the Thousand Ice Seal, which carries the powers of Absolute Powers of Sealing Ice!"
"When paired with the Demonic Powers of my Demonic Orb, I can transform this power into the Sealing Ice of the Nether Realm and can seal anything that I desire."
"Even if I can only keep the seal for a couple of seconds at most, it should be more than enough to buy me some time to detonate the entire formation!" he laughed while watching Shin and himself get sealed by the ice.
Right before he was fully sealed, he immediately gave his final orders to all his clones. They then quickly detonated themselves, which in turn made the demonic formation completely unstable, leading to its total collapse before exploding.
BOOM!
