Chapter 464: Biohazard

“Movila, found anything?”

“Not far from where the accident just happened, there really are a few more animated corpses... It’s just that they don’t seem to have any consciousness, just wandering aimlessly...”

“That settles it.”

Loren had only been speculating before, but now he was certain—this incident was indeed related to a necromancer.

It seemed those undead creatures had lost control, accidentally ended up on the train tracks, and been smashed by the train by chance.

This was purely an accident, truly unrelated to Loren.

“Master, some necromancers came... They disposed of those wandering corpses. The bodies instantly rotted on the spot... Pretty disgusting...”

“Alright, that confirms the situation. There’s a necromancer running experiments nearby, the awakened corpses lost control, wandered over to the train tracks, and got crushed.

“Then he cleaned up the evidence in time, the whole thing was ruled a suicide, no one got hurt—everyone’s happy.”

Such incidents were not uncommon in the God of Plague’s territory. Though necromancy was officially banned, there were more necromancers here than Plague Envoys—everyone knew it, they just didn’t talk about it openly.

Loren could certainly report it. With his influence, he could get the Church to deal with that necromancer, but there was no real need.

The train continued its journey. By evening, they reached the Canaan Kingdom. The train attendant knocked on Loren’s door again:

“Master Mentor, we’ve arrived at the Canaan Kingdom. Would you like to step out for some fresh air? The train can depart a bit later.”

“Forget it, I’m not getting off.”

The Canaan Kingdom was the God of Plague’s territory, even more dirty and chaotic than the Bardo Kingdom. Loren had zero desire to step foot outside.

“I’ve already reported what happened to my superiors. They’ll find a way to investigate thoroughly...”

“I wasn’t counting on them anyway. If you’re done, just leave. We need to rest.”

Loren was holding Lilith in his arms—she had already fallen asleep. Lilith was indeed quite drowsy.

“Yes...”

Loren’s blunt dismissal made the attendant quite awkward, but she still quietly left without further bothering him.

Besides, Loren hadn’t told her about his discoveries. He wasn’t entirely sure they were correct, so letting them investigate again was just right.

“Everyone, get some sleep. We should arrive tomorrow.”

Loren gently set Lilith down, grabbed Scarlett’s ankle from under the bed, pulled her out, and lifted her up by her foot.

At the same time, due to gravity, her skirt flipped down, covering her face.

“I cleaned up all the blood long ago. You might as well come out now.”

Scarlett had already fallen asleep, but Loren’s sudden action woke her right up.

“Why is everything so dark in front of me? Am I blind? Waaah... Master... I won’t be able to take care of you anymore...”

“She never took care of me anyway. I’ve always been the one taking care of you.”

Hearing Scarlett’s words, Loren’s anger flared, and he smacked her on the bottom as a reflex.

“Ow!”

After Scarlett yelped in pain, Loren flipped her back over.

“I’m not blind? Thank goodness... Waaah...”

Seeing light again, Scarlett was immensely thrilled and immediately hugged Loren.

“That’s enough. Time to sleep.”

Before Scarlett’s snot could smear onto Loren, he successfully pushed her away.

With Loren’s strength of ten points, he normally couldn’t push away a Witch, but Scarlett was an exception.

“Oh.”

Scarlett obediently took off her high heels, climbed onto the bed, lay face-up with her hands folded over her chest—completely still, like a corpse.

Loren drew the curtains, blocking out the bloody moonlight, and the compartment darkened.

The train started moving. The compartment had excellent soundproofing; barely any noise from the train could be heard.

It should have been a peaceful night—until Loren jolted awake.

Loren suddenly opened his eyes. The interior of the compartment greeted him; Lilith and Anna were hugging his arms from left and right, yet he still felt a wave of unease.

“Quick, everyone wake up.”

Ever since acquiring the Sensitive Heart, Loren’s instincts had never been wrong. So, to be safe, he directly called the others awake.

“What’s wrong, Master Mentor?”

Anna rubbed her eyes, asking drowsily, instinctively still gripping Loren’s hand.

“My Intuition is warning me. Danger is likely imminent.”

With Loren’s shout, everyone except Scarlett woke up. Loren had to specifically rouse Scarlett.

“Wake up, now!”

Urgency forced Loren to grab Scarlett’s cheeks and pull them apart.

“Ow ow ow... What’s happening, Master?”

As soon as Scarlett opened her eyes, she saw Loren’s serious expression. Even she had to realize something was wrong now.

“I don’t know yet. Just take out Orianna first.”

“Oh, okay.”

Scarlett nodded dazedly, but her words confused Paqina. She had no idea how Scarlett could produce Orianna—she remembered they hadn’t brought Orianna along, nor a suitcase big enough to hold her.

Under Paqina’s stunned gaze, Scarlett summoned Orianna from beside her.

“You... this...”

Paqina was so shocked by Scarlett that she became incoherent. But quickly, recalling many of Loren’s earlier actions, she guessed something and hurriedly shut her mouth.

Not long after Orianna was brought out, knocking came at the door. This time, though, the knocking was different—more violent, more erratic.

It sounded less like knocking and more like slamming.

“Here it comes.”

Loren didn’t go to open the door. Instead, he had Orianna phase through the wall to check outside.

The one knocking was the same train attendant from before. She was ramming her body against the compartment door. Even though her body was already injured and bleeding, she kept on slamming, as if she felt no pain at all.

This sensation reminded Loren of...

“Zombies?”

Seeing the attendant’s condition, Loren quickly connected it to what had happened in Wheat Ear Country before. Back then, Canaan Kingdom’s necromancers had been running experiments aimed at creating zombies.

Except, Loren had killed all the necromancers carrying valuable data at the time, and later dealt a heavy blow to the Canaan Kingdom. He hadn’t expected that even under these circumstances, they still managed to develop zombies.

Looking at it this way, what the train had hit earlier wasn’t just ordinary undead—it was zombies.

“A Western Fantasy world breaking out into a biohazard outbreak. How did I end up in this kind of dream...”

Orianna activated Blood Moon Condensed Light, precisely cleaving through the attendant’s head. Sure enough, once the head was destroyed, the attendant collapsed to the ground.

“Since she’s been infected, that means the others...”

Orianna passed through the wall into other compartments. Zombies roamed aimlessly here, with many gnawed corpses littering the floor.
