Chapter 755: The Man Who Didn’t Return All Night |
The next morning.
Even though day had broken, the plaza in front of the Supreme Castle was still crowded. Demons, even executives, stood guard, some drowsy but forcing themselves to stay awake.
From time to time, they glanced towards the front of the Supreme Castle. There, the six Demon Lords, along with Lilith, seven Transcendent Level beings, had been keeping watch all night.
However…
“…”
“…”
“…”
An oppressive silence hung in the air, and several Demon Lords’ faces showed displeasure. Especially Airi, Shafney, and Kamina, their faces darkening. Sara and Lid repeatedly sighed, looking at each other without a word. As for Millu, she had long since fallen asleep, lying on Lid, who had transformed into a giant beast several meters tall.
Lilith should have also fallen asleep, regardless of the occasion. But since last night, worry filled the little goddess’s face, and her evil aura fluctuated several times, making the surrounding demons nervous, looking at her like a ferocious beast about to lose control.
But even their patience was wearing thin.
Finally, Shafney couldn’t hold back any longer.
“Where did that bastard go? He hasn’t returned all night!” she said through gritted teeth, her tone as resentful as a wife waiting for her husband, making Liel, Hart, and Gray’s expressions darken.
“Hmph,” Airi snorted coldly, her face grim.
“Do you think something happened to him?” Kamina asked, suggesting a possibility.
“Probably not,” Sara frowned, “Besides the one I suspect, no one can silently take someone away right under Airi and Lilith’s noses.”
And if her suspicion was correct, that person had no reason to harm Shien.
But then…
“What was that Hero doing all night, not returning?” Lid’s words made Airi’s expression even colder, and even Shafney felt a pang of resentment. After all, this situation suggested that something pleasant for Shien, but unpleasant for them, had occurred.
“Let’s just ignore him,” Shafney suggested.
“…My person, even if he dies, he will die before my eyes,” Airi said coldly, meaning she would wait, but when he returned, there would be consequences.
“Perhaps something we don’t know about happened,” Lid said, trying to defend Shien.
“I don’t care what happened. Since he made us worry so much, he better be prepared to pay the price,” Kamina said to Sara impatiently, “I think we should just tie up that Hero and keep him at home, preventing him from running around. That way, we can still use his abilities.”
Hearing this, Graty and Beauty perked up, almost raising their hands to speak.
However, Sara didn’t give these two scheming dragon women a chance.
“I don’t mind,” she said, glancing at the other Demon Lords, “As long as you’re not afraid of the consequences if he causes trouble.”
Hearing this, Kamina was speechless. She knew this wasn’t realistic. Shien wasn’t an ordinary Hero. Although he hadn’t reached their level yet, he could already contend with them. Coupled with the Holy Sword’s power against demons, the Supreme God’s blessing, and the potentially dangerous Demon King’s gem, if that Hero caused trouble, the Demon Realm would be in chaos.
Moreover, there was also a certain Evil God glaring at her.
Therefore, even if they could successfully capture the Hero, the consequences might outweigh the benefits.
This made Kamina even more frustrated.
“Forget it, I don’t care anymore,” she said, giving up, “He’s not my fiancé. Airi, you deal with him.”
Saying this, Kamina turned and entered the Supreme Castle.
“I’m going back too,” Shafney said, her face filled with displeasure, as if truly angered, and Liel, Hart, and Gray followed, their expressions grim, not at all happy about Shafney being angry at Shien.
“Sigh…” Lid sighed, carrying the sleeping Millu on her back, and left without a word.
With the four Demon Lords gone, the remaining demons and executives looked at each other, some leaving, some entering the Supreme Castle, and some staying behind, accompanying the remaining two Demon Lords.
Graty and Beauty stayed.
Hartley also remained silent, her occasional flickering eyes betraying her inner thoughts.
Most of the crowd dispersed, leaving only Airi, Sara, Lilith, and Hartley.
“I’ll stay here,” Hartley said calmly.
“Then stay,” Sara said, not dismissing her. With Hartley’s strength, she wouldn’t be affected by the stray evil aura, and even if Lilith went berserk, with her and Airi present, Hartley could protect herself. Sara trusted her long-time subordinate and let her stay. Moreover, with her intelligence, she could guess why Hartley wanted to wait for Shien.
So, Sara ignored Hartley, who also remained silent.
“Alright, Lilith, calm down, he’s fine,” Airi said, holding Lilith’s hand and trying to soothe her.
“Wuuu…” Lilith’s big eyes were filled with worry, her body restless, as if wanting to cause trouble. If not for her good relationship with Airi, she might have already lost control. She was like a ticking time bomb, incredibly dangerous.
Even Sara, seeing this, couldn’t help but comment,
“As expected of the strongest Evil God who once turned the world into hell, her instability and dangerousness make one wonder if she’s the true Demon Lord.”
Sometimes, Sara wondered how that Hero managed to subdue such an Evil God. Even she didn’t want to hold such an unstable bomb in her arms, and yet Shien not only dared to, but also successfully became her anchor. It was unbelievable.
“No wonder the God Race is willing to leave her here and not take her back to the Divine Realm. Even they probably aren’t confident in controlling her.”
Sara pondered.
Besides evil, Lilith also governed chaos. It was natural for her to be unstable. Thinking of this, Sara gathered her power, ready to help Airi restrain Lilith if necessary.
Just then…
“Weng!”
The atmosphere suddenly trembled.
Airi, Sara, Lilith, and Hartley’s expressions changed.
“He’s back!”
“He’s back!”
Airi and Sara reacted simultaneously, and even Lilith, her face filled with joy, pounced forward.
A figure reappeared amidst the trembling air.
“Thud!” Lilith crashed into his arms with a muffled sound.
“Oof!” Shien, feeling dizzy, had finally returned to the Demon Realm, only to be tackled the moment he landed.
“You…” Airi and Sara also saw Shien’s return and approached him, about to question him.
However, in the next second, they stopped.
A strange look appeared on Sara’s face.
And Airi’s expression turned ice-cold.
Holding Lilith, who had buried her head in his chest, Shien seemed dazed, a dreamy expression on his face, like a man who had just left a brothel.
Recalling the unforgettable, blissful memories from earlier, a wanton smile spread across his face.
“Hee hee… hehehehe…” He giggled foolishly.
“…” Hartley looked at him speechlessly.
“…What did he do last night?” Sara asked, holding her forehead and smiling wryly.
Airi didn’t say anything, just walked towards the giggling Shien with a grim expression.
Shien, still giggling, didn’t even notice her.
Seeing this, Airi’s anger flared.
“Bang!” Without hesitation, her small fist shot out like a bullet, hitting Shien hard in the abdomen.
“Oof…!” The dazed Shien doubled over in pain, finally snapping back to reality.
“Are you awake now?” Airi asked coldly, looking at him as if he were a rutting ape.
“A-Airi?” Shien finally reacted, clutching his stomach and holding Lilith, his face contorted in pain.
“Tell me,” Airi said, showing no mercy, “Where did you go last night?” Her tone was like a wife interrogating her husband who hadn’t come home all night.
Shien finally understood the situation and realized he was in trouble.
“N-Nowhere…” he said weakly, forcing a smile.
“Really?” Airi sneered, “Do you think you’re convincing?”
“Why wouldn’t I be convincing?” Shien quickly straightened up and said seriously, “I really didn’t go anywhere, trust me.” His serious tone and forced composure did seem somewhat convincing.
Unfortunately…
“Ahem.” Sara coughed, giving Hartley a look.
Hartley understood, extending her hands and gathering cold air, forming a mirror. She then manipulated the mirror, making it float before Shien.
Shien looked down, and his heart almost stopped.
The reason was simple.
In the mirror, countless marks were clearly imprinted on his face. These marks were red, purple, black, pink, all colors of the rainbow, but they were all the same shape—lip prints.
Yes.
Shien’s face was covered in lip prints.
“Come on, say it again and make me believe you,” Airi said, her face expressionless, her eyes filled with a cold killing intent.
(I’m dead, I’m dead, I’m so dead…!) Shien’s sense of danger spiked, and he almost fled.
To make matters worse, Lilith, who had raised her head from Shien’s arms, also saw his face. After calming down, she blinked, then, as if realizing something, she leaned forward and kissed him hard on the cheek, leaving a lip-shaped drool mark.
At that moment, an explosive killing intent erupted from Airi.
“A-Airi?” Shien looked at her fearfully.
Airi’s face became even more expressionless, then she turned and left without a word.
Shien instinctively wanted to follow, but Sara stopped him with a chilling remark.
“I advise you not to provoke little Airi right now,” she said, “That girl isn’t easy to appease when she’s angry. You might lose a limb or two.” She glanced at his crotch, her meaning clear.
Shien stopped, not daring to pursue Airi.
“Afraid now?” Sara sneered, “Since you know fear, why did you still stay out all night, doing such shameless things with some unknown woman?”
Shien’s expression was uglier than crying.
“If I said I didn’t do what you think I did, would you believe me?” he asked, desperately trying to defend himself.
“What do you think?” Sara countered, her eyes filled with disdain.
“I…” Shien was speechless, on the verge of tears. He knew that their imaginations were running wild, impossible to pull back.
But he really didn’t do anything that scandalous! Although… it wasn’t like nothing happened. A certain yandere goddess seemed to have been holding back for a long time and almost lost control yesterday, but Shien wasn’t so shameless as to take advantage of her.
Therefore, he shouted inwardly, “I really didn’t go all the way!”
Of course, besides “all the way,” quite a few things did happen…
Thinking of this, Shien couldn’t help but recall last night’s memories, his heart racing. He hadn’t expected that goddess to play such a trick on him, a trick that targeted his weakness, almost making him lose control. If not for the goddess losing control even faster, pouncing on him and kissing him frantically, startling him, he might have already made a mistake that all men would make.
It was simply too much to handle.
Sara naturally couldn’t understand his frustration, nor did she want to.
“Save your explanations for your fiancée,” she said, ignoring his tears, “I’m more interested in where you went last night and who you met.”
Hearing this, Shien inwardly sighed. As expected.
Before letting him return, Nien herself had said,
“After this exposure, that Moon Demon will definitely keep an eye on me and investigate. When you return, if she asks about me, do this.”
Nien had asked him for a favor.
Remembering that, Shien looked at Sara.
“Are you really interested in this?” he asked, just to confirm.
“Of course,” Sara smiled meaningfully, “If you don’t want to tell me, that’s fine. I already have a clue. Even if it takes some time, I’ll definitely find out something.”
Her confident words didn’t surprise Shien.
“She also said that, that you would definitely say this,” he shrugged.
“She?” Sara looked intently at Shien, “Then who is she?”
Clearly, she was very interested in Nien’s existence.
Under such circumstances, Shien did as Nien asked.
“She asked me to give you a message,” he said.
“If you want to see her, bring the ‘Rainbow Demon Diamond’ to ‘God’s Canyon’.”
These words made Sara’s eyes narrow.
“Rainbow Demon Diamond? God’s Canyon?” Even Hartley was shocked, seemingly knowing what and where these were.
Shien, however, immediately asked,
“What is this Rainbow Demon Diamond? And where is God’s Canyon?”
He had asked Nien the same question, but she only gave him a mysterious smile, not saying anything.
Sara also didn’t explain, only pondering for a moment before saying,
“I’ll try.”
Her tone suggested that this wasn’t an easy task.
But she seemed to genuinely want to meet Nien.
Shien wanted to ask more, but gave up. He had already realized that these apex beings of Omnipotence, and those closely related to them, were all fond of being cryptic. They would eagerly explain things that needed explaining, afraid he wouldn’t understand the severity of the situation. But those things they didn’t want to explain, even if he begged them, they wouldn’t say a word, all secretive and cryptic.
Did they think this made them seem mysterious, intelligent, and superior?
Shien cursed inwardly.
Ignoring his inner rant, Sara, having received a satisfactory answer, also prepared to leave. However, looking at Shien’s face covered in lip prints, she couldn’t help but scold him.
“It’s a good thing we dismissed everyone. Otherwise, you would have embarrassed the Hero’s name!”
“If you don’t want to be the laughingstock of the entire Demon Race tomorrow, and you don’t want your engagement with Airi to become a joke, then go wash your face!”
“Shameful!”
Leaving these words, Sara stormed off angrily.
Hartley also looked at Shien, seemingly wanting to say something, but unsure what, and in the end, she just sighed and followed Sara.
“I…” Shien stared blankly for a moment, then, finally reacting, he awkwardly wiped his face.
“That goddess definitely left these marks on purpose to embarrass me,” he muttered, carrying the confused Lilith and entering the Supreme Castle.
Next, he had to think about how to appease his dragon girl.
