Chapter 694: Grand Fireworks - (2) |
"Let's go down," Felix said calmly. "Remember not to overreact, I'll neutralize the danger in advance. Charlie, you can take the dragons and leave when we go down."
"Professor, can we skip the part where we sing the school song?" Ron said hopefully, "I can't find the right key." Draco Malfoy stiffly turned his head to glare at him, feeling for the first time that Ron's suggestion was constructive.
"That's a good joke, Weasley," Felix said calmly. "But the answer is no."
With that, he jumped down.
Harry followed closely behind, followed by Ron, Hermione, Neville, Cho, Susan Bones, Draco Malfoy, Daphne Greengrass... a total of fourteen students. They had spent a lot of time practicing to appear more graceful while floating with the Levitation Charm over the past few days.
"One, two, three, four... a total of fifteen wizards!"
Fifteen wizards descended from the sky, immaculate, astonishing the people below. A deafening roar came from the clouds as they arrived, followed by a long tail covered in bronze spikes breaking through the clouds, swinging forcefully before disappearing.
Soft sunlight cast a beam on the ground in front of the parliament building, shining on Felix and his group's faces. Everyone stared at them dumbfounded. The clouds gathered again, blocking out the sunlight once more. But their entrance was unforgettable.
The Prime Minister was the first to recover.
Approaching them with large strides, the Prime Minister shook Felix's hand warmly.
Felix hesitated for a moment. Another part of him, residing in the mental loft, gathered, processed, and synthesized information from miles around. He also used a faint emotional magic to amplify some people's emotions; at the moment, all they could think of were terrifying monsters looming overhead, afraid that if they interrupted, a fireball would rain down or they would be snatched away by a claw.
"Welcome," the Prime Minister said warmly, shaking Felix's hand for a long time, giving the journalists plenty of time to take pictures. Then they slowly walked toward the entrance, the Queen standing quietly there, with a dignified smile.
Journalists had the keenest sense of smell and higher psychological resilience than the average person. They couldn't wait to get to the front, with countless microphones protruding from both sides of the road. A basket of questions was thrown out:
"What mission have you come with?"
"The newspapers say you're a teacher of wizards, but you look very young. Is the average age of wizards lower than that of ordinary people?"
"If negotiations fail, will the wizards go to war with the government?"
"Do you really perform magic? Could it be a hoax? Will you agree to strict testing?"
"These questions are ridiculous—"
"Shut up," Harry squeezed out a word through his teeth, pretending to cough, leading the way forward amidst the flashes of cameras.
Felix stood before the Queen, her smile even more gracious and refined. She extended a gloved hand. Felix bowed slightly, then quickly stood upright, turning to face the crowd. His booming voice echoed through the streets:
"Thank you for the Queen's gracious invitation. We have prepared a gift, but there is a more fitting gift at the moment." With that, he raised his wand, causing everyone around to step back. The Prime Minister widened his eyes, and the members of parliament behind him had various expressions.
"Hogwarts students—"
Fourteen students raised their wands solemnly.
A milky-white beam shot into the sky, incredibly holy. People seemed to see an elegant figure spreading its wings in the beam, raising its head high, soaring straight into the clouds above.
Fourteen slender beams of light similarly passed over the heads of the people, converging high up. The sky seemed to conjure a sun out of thin air, casting a gentle glow that illuminated the earth completely.
It seemed like a curtain of light enveloped their heads, and it was expanding rapidly.
In the secret room of the parliament building—
"Have you detected it?"
"... Not yet, all the instruments suddenly malfunctioned!"
"Damn it, what kind of magic is this? Why is its range so large, it's covering at least a dozen blocks. God, won't it spread to the entire city?"
"General, for now, this magic seems non-lethal."
"—can you tell me what it is? Of course, they wouldn't kill in public, but what if they plan to do so someday? Hurry, quickly determine the range of this magic—forget those broken instruments, use your eyes!" The Member exclaimed excitedly, rushing to the window, holding a telescope to the sky. Under the unknown magic's effect, the black clouds were pierced and dispersed, revealing a patch of blue sky, as if a hole had been torn open in the sky, revealing a curtain of deep blue.
Taking advantage of this, sunlight poured down, refracted into rainbow colors by the mist in the black clouds. Raindrops gathered and fell, each drop seemingly turned into light rain, casting a myriad of colors, creating a magnificent scene.
Fred and George stared in amazement.
Fred quietly swallowed, "Our fireworks are completely inadequate." George remained silent, nodding. Ginny stared intently at the young wizard with black hair on the ground; the beam of light emanating from his wand was the brightest among all the students, almost rivaling Professor Snape's. Her pride was about to overflow.
At the same time, on the roof of another building, Luna suddenly widened her eyes.
"It's happening now."
"What?" Mr. Lovegood looked at his daughter in surprise.
"A grand display of fireworks. What I saw in the fire divination is happening right now," Luna said earnestly, dressed in a bright gown adorned with small stones and colorful sequins on her body and hair. She might be the most confident among them all.
Now, with her hands clasped together, ancient runes swiftly converged, forming a sparkling and translucent orb in the blink of an eye.
"Luna—" Mr. Lovegood said nervously.
"It'll be alright," Luna said. "I've been waiting for this moment." She raised her hands devoutly.
The orb floated into the air, transforming precisely under the control of magic, forming a beam of light identical to the one below, blending with the light canopy in the sky.
The expansion of the light canopy sped up imperceptibly. Many people turned their gaze, Mrs. Weasley gasped, seeming like she might faint.
"Guess what we're seeing?" Fred exclaimed excitedly. "This is much more spectacular than fireworks." He and George raised their wands, the tips also gathering white light.
Not far away, Cedric smiled and raised his wand.
More people joined in, wizards hidden throughout London and vacationing students lighting their wands one after another... It was as if they had all received an invitation to a grand event, appearing almost impatient. Beams of light instantly illuminated the entire city.
As fine rain fell, fireworks engulfed the entire city.
Sacred laser beams pierced through the dark clouds, crossed the city's boundaries, and covered most of the suburbs of London.
The magical radio station eerily stopped for more than ten seconds, and wizards gathered around their radios looked at each other in confusion. Not understanding why there was suddenly no sound, wasn't that young man quite talkative before? Suddenly, Lee Jordan's voice came excitedly from the radio.
"It's unbelievable! All wizards— I don't know if I can say this— if you also know the Luminous Charm, step out of your rooms and join this great relay! For everyone!"
Many wizards walked out of their houses holding their radios, skeptical.
Wizards living in the suburbs of London were the first to witness the spectacle before them. They widened their eyes as the vast white light rolled like a torrent, completely shattering the dark clouds overhead. Following were the fragmented, soft rainbow lights, shining on the ground, on their faces—they all raised their wands simultaneously, as if by agreement, and magic surged into their wands like a tide.
Thanks to the restraining effect of this magic on dark creatures, thanks to the unremitting efforts of Future World Company, the Ministry of Magic, and the Anti-Dark Arts Alliance during last year's war, thanks to the fact that the Luminous Charm is the simplest ancient magic, thanks to the fusion of the Luminous Charm...
This may be the widest range of magic ever cast in history.
Starting from the center of London, spanning the suburbs, radiating outward, it soon reached neighboring counties such as Surrey, Kent, Hertfordshire, and Essex, where new wizards joined in, expanding the scope once again. In just a few minutes, even the Scottish Highlands were illuminated.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Professor McGonagall looked up, bright light streaming in from the window into the headmaster's office. The wrinkles on her face smoothed out as she looked at the portrait of Dumbledore on the wall, the same joy and amazement showing on his face.
"He's done very well, hasn't he?" Professor McGonagall said gently.
Dumbledore nodded approvingly.
Felix, far away in London, of course, was unaware of all this. His train of thought couldn't reach so far.
His initial plan was to 'light up' the entire London, and he even intended to gather thunderbirds in advance to gather clouds. But the weather forecast said it would be overcast for the next few days, so he even saved on this matter.
Although it didn't go entirely according to his plan, there were strange changes along the way, but it seemed like a good change.
Felix put away his wand and addressed the stunned crowd clearly and accurately:
"This is the gift that wizards are giving to the queen, and even to the entire non-magical world. I believe that as long as both sides cooperate sincerely, we can not only dispel the dark clouds above our heads but also dispel the darkness in our hearts."
