Bags of salt, spices and sugar stacked from inside the shop all the way out into the streets. Merchants loaded with goods going flooded the streets with their carriages.

The air was filled with fragrances emanating from all manner of spices. It was a prosperous, lively city at the side of the oasis. Sounds of metals being hammered and threads being woven were heard all over the place, as smiths and craftsmen were busy at work in their respective workshops.

The banner of the successor of the Kingdom of Swadia — Baron Kant — was hanging on the city gates. The citizens lived peaceful, happy lives, revering their lord from the bottom of their hearts.

Soldiers on the city walls armed with crossbows stood guard over the city, and footmen wearing mail armor patrolled the streets.

The place was one of peace and security. Collapse

It just 2D world building novel.
Even The MC just looked like NPC that only follow scripted system quest.

    Dropped (temporarily?) at 110

    What is this?
This is a system, x4, kingdom building story. The MC is the youngest son of a noble and was exiled in all but name into a desert oasis which he is to take over as territory. After that, kingdom building ensues.

If you aren't aware, "x4" is a sub-niche of progression fantasy which has real time strategy game type of mechanics in the story.

    Who is this for?
This one's difficult, I can't say that people who like kingdom building should read this, because it's x4, and not all who like kingdom building will like x4. The biggest problem is that, the author likes to play it fast and loose when it comes to plot contrivances.

Plot contrivances are something like a slave collar, or a storage ring, these are plot contrivances. They move the plot forward by solving problems that the author deems not worth their time.

So for example, he was exiled to the desert. He traveled there with a few system generated peasants and 20 elite knights, where said knights are to leave after escorting him. So this part is already weird because upon getting to the oasis, the group finds out that the oasis has been taken over by enemies but the knights wants out since it's not technically part of their job so they don't want to risk attacking it.

Through a stroke of viciousness, the MC dumps all the water so the knights will be forced to take the oasis with him.

This is GREAT characterization. . . until you think about things for a bit.

For example, if there are no people there (since the enemies are not humans) what was he supposed to govern? If the knights leave him there and report that there were just enemies there, is his father supposed to just nod? If his father wanted him dead then why did the knights just didn't kill him? If the reason is because of "face" then isn't sending your kid to an oasis full of enemies just the same as killing him? Where's the face in that and who would find out anyway?

I can provide more examples but I think this review is long enough.

    A good side?
Here's the thing though, the author is pretty good with the pacing in his writing so when he glosses over these details, you're kinda caught up in the moment.

    Should you read it?
Man I don't know, if you like kingdom building and you're out of anything decent, then give it a try maybe? It's not the worst thing out there, not even close. And the author really is good at glossing over things so if you just ignore that nagging voice that the plot moves through sheer stupidity then you're good to go.

Politically I would imagine since it would look bad if he killed his son and it got out no matter the chance so he sent him there so he can hopefully die on his own

It would also get out that he was "delivered" to enemies which I think would be worse for "face" than killing him since the problem left the family.

You can judge the MC based on these two things:

    - He'll kill all races he comes into contact with that aren't human because hurr-durr, vicious enemy. Not just kill but slaughter. The women and children of the tribe are killed as well.

    - He has a system that allows him to make things out of nothing, was transported to a medieval world with magic, and knows the existence of multiple non-human races and yet scoffs when a scholar comes to his village, believing in a lost city.

This guy is a Grade-A moron. Dropped.

I don't know what chapter you read up to but so far he's killed a few different races because they've attacked him.
The first Jackalans that he killed was so that he could completely control the desert which is a smart move, the next few jackalans were because they invaded him and he had to kill them.
He hasn't really had any discrimination since he's killed quite a few humans as well, he just doesn't trust people that aren't from the system.
The system connects two worlds and can bring some people from the other world to this one by making them work under him.

Not saying it's a great book but it's not horrible either.

There is only one admin on the site, that's me.

Therefore, try to understand: it is physically unrealistic to check all the novels, and correct errors / missed chapters at the same time.

From this you can understand that, again, I cannot get up from morning until evening to add new chapters, so 99% of the updates are set to be automated.

Automation is not ideal, there are problems when loading a chapter, or loading the original source, or our server may go down.

Therefore, I always ask you to report bugs or missed chapters, I will try to fix the bug within a day.

I think both translation and story are shit. MC is quite stupid and one of those ‘must always progress at lightspeed and piss everyone off’ kinds. Doesn’t help he constantly looks at himself as some kind of superior being because ‘he is a transported’ (yes, as mentioned before, bad translation). Not that he ever uses his ‘past knowledge.

MC also tries to come off as a schemer, the kind where they can smile while people insult and constantly belittle them because they have essentially hold all the power. MC doesn’t. Hold much power that is. Due to the pace of the book, this ‘faceslap’ scenario hasn’t really ended and I gave up around 190. Doesn’t help that for all of MC’s arrogance that he would be less than useless without the system giving him everything.

Pretty much all non MC, System characters are violently stupid/greedy, the typical Chinese fair that makes for nonsensical societies. All non-human races are to be subjugated ofc, because of the standard ‘Diplomacy? Is it something you can eat?’ approach. System itself is very arbitrary.

The author is also a master of talking a lot but saying nothing. The chapters are fairly long, but actually relevant plot happenings, dialogue, musings would take up less than 1/3 of most chapters. A lot of word padding. A LOT.

Honestly I could go on, but then I’d be here all day. It might be ‘ok’ to new readers but other than that, it’s a time waste really.
