    Trade isn't advanced knowledge, people. Trade between different groups of people goes back to thousands of BC. You straight up cannot reach the massive countries this world apparently has without trade.

        You're severely underestimating the craftiness and intelligence of people deeply devoted to gathering wealth and power.

        Especially if you think "buy low and sell high" is a novel idea only a modern person can come up with. There is no "they are raised like this." People aren't fundamentally capped on how much they can advanced relative to previous generations. As long as there are benefits to be gained, someone will find a method of gaining them. Industrious people will even attempt stupid ideas in order to gain advantages, let alone obvious and "smart" ideas like this.

        A trade route is such an obvious idea that only an extremely primitive and isolated group wouldn't think to build one.
