      Although never explicity explained about how or when he chooses to select the items he actually brings into the game, this sort of implies that each game has a limit and he gets to choose what he brings after the initial prompt is givin. This time the prompt being the paragraph on the Roman Emperors. Otherwise, your right, he shouldn't have a clue.

      Each time there is game prompt for starting the game there is 5 seconds grace time before round starts I think it's in this time player chooses which item to bring to the game, not 100% sure though. And not sure why he brought infinite block maybe he can also use it by making wood lego pieces.

      I don't think MC is given any context about the quest and as explained before he simply has used up the charges of those items so he didn't bring them. I think it's a translation error.
