Growing up with eccentric materialist parents, who left him in the care of his grandfather for a job overseas, Zhang Heng had learned to adapt and be unfettered by the oddities and challenges in life. But he would soon learn the baffling truth about the world he thought he knew, when one day at midnight, time froze and he found himself in a world so quiet and still it was deafening.

That night, he discovered that he had 24 hours more than everybody else and thus, marked the beginning of his adventures. The mysteries surrounding his newfound ability only deepened when a strange old man claimed to have given Zhang Heng that ‘gift of time’ and recruited the young man to participate in a cryptic ‘life-changing’ game on his behalf. Little did Zhang Heng know that accepting those terms meant embroiling himself in many versions of reality and exposing himself to the hidden secrets of the world a decision he could never undo. Nice story. Ive survived all the way from the start in MtL. Now its the end of the journey. Most dungeon is kind of refreshing as there is slow / fast pace.
. Hope author continue for the 2nd book/ make a short story/ perhaps this is the ending it deserved. Truly comparable with legendary mechanics, Reverend Insanity, Lotm and other peak novel if not for it utter rubbish translation at the second half of the story. Btw , mtl are also hard to survived (need to have experience in dao of mtl) , but whatnot, meh, its okay then other mtl novels. This novel deserved good translator. Then it will be peak.

Btw for new reader, here are the rating

    Plot : 4/5
World building : 7/5 (author effort lk commendable)
    Translation : 1/5 ( 3/5 mtl ) * survived mtl btw.
Mc : Quite nice, with a bit op at the end.
    Pace : Fast - Slow - Fast - Compress - End.

P.S :Dont know how many books i have read but this one gives a bit refreshing feeling after reading so many brainrot of uncle revenge junior disciple and whatnot. N there is more, when the fxck is the mech touch wanted to end. Its been 5 years fcccccckkkm.

Btw, can other fellow traveler recommend me books to read . Thank you.

So guys this is one of the best novels I have read. As you read the novel further you actually realize effort the author had put in each arc. (Read Gemini translation)

One of the best & unique point of this novel is that every arc is different genre. Mythology, Sci-fi, Action, Thriller, Drama, Adventure, Survival and many more... It's like blend of cocktails served to all readers preferences.

The world background is quite unique in this novel little similar to novel called America Gods, but with author adding his own ideas into it.

    Rating 5/5.

This novel is truly something. It brings together a lot of different genres into one and still manages to make something good out of it. I honestly didn’t think the story matched it’s hype when I initially went into it, but as I read more and more I was proven wrong. If it wasn’t for the bad translation after a certain point, this would be a genuine A novel for me. Just below the ranks of Legendary Mechanic and other peak ones

New readers. Read MTL rather than translation. Much more better plus few chapters in between contains author thoughts like at end of Black Sail arc. But in MTL there's a disadvantage i.e there will be no translator notes which might have describe or define some words and etc.

Howdy everyone, Panic has added AI MTL for this novel, which I believe is much better than the human translated one. The only reason to read the non-MTL one is for the comments, but otherwise it's a no brainer.

I thought this will be fun serious novel that I don't need to switch my brain off. But the moment I read longass pirate arc. I decided to drop it, since it tick me off. So, I pass. Maybe when I just want to cruise along not taking seriously, espcially because the good 4/5 review, maybe I will give it try again.

The synopsis reminded me of Scott Westerfeld's "Midnighters" series. Well, I'll have to watch it.

Great, I’ll re-read sometime later. Were all chapters replaced by AI, or was it just the last few with the bad translations? If it was all of the chapters, I don’t trust AI to not bullshit something up (see: My Divine Diary got AI hallucinated)

Read this a while ago. Good novel overall. Very interesting in the first half and managed to just about keep my interest until the end. A few more boring arcs and a few forgotten about characters annoyed me. But well worth a read because the good bits are really good and it's generally well written with a well built world. Think translation might have dropped in quality at some point and the ending was average but at least it had one that brought things to a logical conclusion. 7.5/10
