    This novel is way better with the “Hero” types being protected by plot armor. It provides an interesting foil to the villain’s rise to power while they grow stronger themselves. Otherwise the novel is just “violent sociopath’s easy-breezy climb to becoming an immortal god!”.

    It’d be even better if the novel got a few more genuinely righteous characters to be a true foil to FY’s “Platonic Ideal” of a demonic cultivator. Then everyone could shut up about how Righteous cultivators are all actually hypocrites. Like, yeah, no shit. It’s called being human beings. And demonic cultivators still create human bonds and rely on kindness and community even within the novel. Real “you criticize society yet you participate in it? Hmm” energy coming from these folks.

      Well put. I really enjoy that FY doesn't have everything go his way and has recurring enemies. I'm excited for the Tie Ruo Nan encounters not because I hate her and hope she dies, but because I love the writing that surrounds the two of them and I like to see in which way she hinders FY and has her character growth affected by him over each encounter.

      Prob bc she resembles mc mentality in other more cliché novels

      Also the author can easely make characters less likable by using the mc's perspective
      FY hates her
      So a lot of readers are gonna agree

      She was also not a build up character and is only there to cause problems for the mc, i mean we haven't actualy seen anything abt her character
