Man this was so nice to read
My only complaint is that it ended too abruptly I needed at least 5 more chapters on the slow burn marriage life of Cheng and Ke and or maybe reference to a child

Third time reading this, still loved it as my old review says. I just tried to find some extra side stories, but apparently these last dozen or so chapters are the side stories. In Chinese they have the (Extra) added in the name but in the translation they took it out. I also heard the author had bad health during the time writing this so he ended it prematurely, and as we know, if he ended this like 10-20 chapters ago we would have all felt mad, as did those in China, so he added these last few chapters later on as a part of the side story. At least according to online sources. I still wish we had more. Anyways, the author is currently making a new novel so I can only hope it’s as good or better than this

    Ended so abruply...
MC not gonna ascend!? The side plot of that War in war-torn areas would have been perfect for MC to become the strongest...
And no scenes with wifey at the end!? Could have done a lot with the starting of his own company and their dailiy lives plus wedding scenes but author really skipped this all!???
Well, considering there's no villian or the urge to continue getting stronger, it is sufficient but still felt very rushed...
He should have ascended to live longer with his wifey but alas no after stories for that either butwhy

Well, what can I say, another Cuttlefish book read. Exactly the third one after Throne of Magical Arcana and Embers Ad Infinitum. I only have LOTM and the other martial arts one left, which I don’t think I’ll read, since it seems to have a mediocre translation and I also want to take a break from this type of genre.

I don’t know how I feel about the ending. There were a few times when I skimmed through some chapters because mc’s relationship with little fairy was already very solid, as were his interactions with his friends and family. The longest and most emotionally charged arc in the story was obviously the university arc, which, if I’m not mistaken, lasted until chapters 400–450. It was also the strongest arc of the entire story, laying a solid foundation for the future development of everything. After that, the story felt a bit monotonous in terms of plot; since it was mainly focused on competitions, tournaments, romance (although in these last chapters the interactions between the MC and the little fairy had noticeably decreased), and some war and assassination, it was actually fine. It was also noticeable that the author realized the story was taking on a monotonous pace and began skipping certain fights, which made it feel a bit rushed at the end, at least to me.

Even so, overall it was a very solid story. We never found out who the expert from the Forbidden realm was that injured Geezer Shi, nor did we ever see the MC enter that realm himself or establish the foundations of the school he would create. I remember when he joined the Ice Sect, and it was mentioned that there were two incomplete techniques of physical invulnerability that had been lost over time. I genuinely thought this badass MC was going to restore them himself or something like that, but the topic was never brought up again in the story—breaking a very typical cliché, in my opinion. It was also a shame that the competitions were practically only at a national level and never global, with the only exception being the Japanese participant named Kaori—something I can’t fully recall—and that event they took part in when they were inhuman, forming a team Peng, Ren Li, Ann Chaoyuan, and mc. But oh well, what can you do? I think this is very common in Chinese novels.

Honestly, the ending left me with a sense of incompleteness. I wanted to see more, and I also felt that the story had a little more potential to tie up the few loose ends I’ve mentioned. The romance, however, seemed very top-tier, with a solid balance between action and romance. I consider it very similar to the feeling I got from another story I read recently called The Regressor and the Blind Saint, although obviously this one is MUCH, much superior overall to the story I just mentioned, only matching it in terms of romance, in my opinion.

Considering the genres it covers, especially “sports,” which is a type of genre I haven’t read in years—the last one I remember reading was Inazuma Eleven—I feel that Cuttlefish has once again demonstrated his skill in storytelling with this one.

Well, without further ado, it was a very enjoyable read. I spent the last two weeks or so reading like a madman, and here I am finishing another story. Don’t forget to keep in mind the wise lessons that Talker gave at the beginning of the story when instructing the protagonist on how to win over little fairy. I hope to see you in other books, my esteemed fellow readers bow satisfied

Finished reading for the 3rd time, I think this will be a comfort novel I would be going back to every once in a while. First during an internship, second during my final year, and now before graduation. Oh how time flies, yet it feels like it was just yesterday.

It was such a good ride ngl. The romance was amazing and the action scenes were detailed. The characters were amazing and detailed. However, I do feel like Cuttlefish slightly rushed the ending. I just wished that we were shown more scenes with Talker and his life, he was one of my favorite characters ngl, and MC's wedding and having a family of his own.

However, all in all, I would rate the novel 9/10
