    Elves being vegans as a trope has always made little sense to me. Like if they were “more attuned to nature” then shouldn’t they be more attuned to the natural order and the circle of life?

    As a sapient species, elves naturally reside as an apex species in their locale, which means their lifestyle affects species lower on the food pyramid.

    However, as a herbivorous species, and closest real animal in comparison I can think of are elephants, which contribute to nature by promoting growth of vegetation through spreading seeds and terraforming for better plant growth during their marches.

    Elves however are communal dwellers, and do not contribute in the same fashion as elephants, however they still judge eating meat as bad, thereby disrupting carnivores and omnivores from hunting in their vicinity.

    Disrupting the natural order and only leaving plants and herbivores, elves are no longer a part of nature, but rather a separate entity more akin to a judge or spectator.

    There are 3 reasons why vegans elves would exist, in my book:

    1. Magic. Through the existence of magic, many aspects of this world is completely different from our world, either through a higher magically power/being (World Tree etc.) protecting the elves and their way of life, or all creature around the elves being magically more advanced than IRL.

    2. Religion. Self-explanatory. The elves are able to eat whatever and is not constrained by anything, other than their state belief that nature is important and that eating meat is heresy.

    3. Rule of Cool. Elves are elegant. Jade-like fruits and fresh vegetables are elegant. Therefore elves only eat fruits and veg.

    In short, vegan elves are not attuned to nature, they are about as far removed from “attuned” as a man feeding goats at a petting zoo.

    Also really sick of elves being characterised as guilt tripping vegans in general.

    I may be biased against elves IDK.🤷‍♂️

    Sad! Humans are an animal like any other, why should they die? Sure, we are hurting nature, but nature is kind of just neutral towards that.
    It creates carnivores, fruits, animals inherently better than others...
    As long as we respect nature and its animals, trees, foliage, and minerals, we will be fine.
