Han Xiao was pleased with his plan. Why would he scam the players? All those perceptions were people’s prejudices and misunderstandings toward him. He really loved his motherland; thinking back to the past when his father almost named him Patriotic Xiao, but under the authority of the tigress in the house, his father changed to his current name, Han Xiao.

Like father like son, both have no sense in naming.

Imma be honest, if I had the chance to help my home country I would. And even gaining profits on top that just makes it better.

I have a genuine question, why do people hate nationalism? I mean, it is his home country, so I understand him wanting to say or do good things for it, and it doesn't bother me too much, so I'm just curious why it seems to be a turn off for people. No hate or anything, I've just seen people be like "oh it has nationalism, I'm not reading this" and never really understood why

I'm curious too. I can understand if its where the author destroys all other countries or makes them seem evil just because they're a different country or is racist to other people. Which leads me to another question. Why does it seem like Asian countries hate America in these novels and that Americas the bad guy? I mean I can't really see what reason they would have for hating us except for Japan because of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki which are kind of justified though. Maybe I'm missing some important history or something like that but as far as I've learned the USA has done nothing. If you guys know why or can inform me on information I'm missing please do so.

Hmm first cause most asian book you read is Chinese. Read a corean book and the enemy is japan for exemple.
Secondly America is the country that go on war with everyone thay is not ol with their view ask African and oriental country about it. Anyway.

Everyone is upset about the nationalism into Chinese book cause most if not every book are not in the real world set (you often see eagle country, dragon country etc.. to have less censorship for exemple) so imposing the brainwashed view into it is seen as destroying the story first and trying to sell China communism secondly.

And lastly we western country like our country (well most people at least) but we don't go rambling about how our government hate this or that country and that it's the absolute truth and that our country is the most perfect and the others the evil incarnate (I didn't read these type of thing once maybe I'm wrong). My two cents on the subject.

I know about what happened to Africa (due to school and it being my heritage) but that wasn't just America sadly. It was practically every western country. And shouldn't China hate Japan too? Because of the Rape of Nanking and other things?

Yeah a lot of Chinese WN has Japanese enemy or indicating Japan as enemy. I've read a few.

Also to answer your questions regarding nationalism for Chinese WN is such a turn off for some people, it's because they tried to doctrine their communism way and make their country like the superior number one.

To the point that there was a case IRL between Indonesia and China about South-China Sea territory and then there's this one novel about an immortal returning to Earth and making Indonesia as barbarian country and an enemy due to that case.

Personally I just waved it away and skimmed through part like this.

What does it bring to the table in a fantasy/scifi setting?

If I wrote a rousing tale of love, hate and passion on the planet Zed, but half way through began lecturing on my theories about who truly killed JFK, does that enhance the story? Does that further enchant the reader to be drawn into the fantasy world of Zed?

Would you enjoy the politics involved from real life in what is essentially something that is an escape from the pressures and tedium of life?

Everyone has varying ideas on politics and it's not really a appropriate place to tell a wide audience political messages. I hardly ever see any reasonable justification for this in these works.
Don't get me wrong, in some works the politics are the thing and a good discourse can be enlightening.
Did you feel even 2% enlightened after reading this? Was there anything but a straight message delivered?

If I wrote a novel that is fantasy based and had the MC mention how his country is the best, I would feel sad that I couldn't create a story that most could enjoy.

Most understand that this is a backhand source of censorship because the government has been known to take down works that don't align with the 'morals and value' of the current government.

We see a similar censorship I'm the west in gaming involving certain cultures and values (typically adult...).

Do people get upset about it? Yes, but not much you can do but complain on forums...
My three am musings, feel free to disagree.
