    So about the arm.
    The most recent technology in powering prosthetic limbs is myoelectric power. With these, the arms are powered by the muscles in your residual limb that can be contracted to generate electrical signals to move the limb. That's what's called a bionic arm.
    The suspension may be a rubber like attachment between arm and forearm, that makes the arm bounce while walking, for ease of movement.

    Anyway, it's an incredibly complex structure, and the fact they had necessary materials makes me think that their disguise of a 'shabby normal repair center' is a joke.
    Well, that or they REALLY advanced as a civilization.

    That said, the most terrifying thing that can happen when someone capable makes you an unfitting arm is severe pain near the attachment. The fact that "walking was uncomfortable" was this guy's biggest problem won't make me surprised if he's also some superhuman, or a freak of nature.
