    I had guessed it after hearing of the Black Emperor's ritual. The changes in the past few years were too many and pushed very rapidly, almost like they are in a hurry for something. The King changed the laws, I am not sure as to what sort of changes in culture and architecture the King has brought, but I think they have changed it slightly, to be different from the previous few eras. This can be kind of understood by the Blackthorn security company in Tingen- it was changed from a small building to a 3 story building after the 'event' with the true creator. As for cultural- I can say the industrialization and push for women to enter the workplace, it may also include a mix of other things, as the cultural aspects are not a focus of the book, I suspect they are including multiple cultures to make a unique culture- the intis restaurants, cafes, desi bay restaurants etc for food.
