    Why not just ask the mirror about who manipulated this whole ploy and after he finds out he can try to confirm by divination both outside and above the grey fog, if he finds the person just kill him and get it over with. The person who set this whole thing up clearly doesn't care about others lives as well so he'd be making the world slightly safer.

      In case you haven't noticed it, Klein has always been wary of the mirror no matter how respectful it acts. He never said any personal detail about himself and usually prefer not to use it if it's something personal. This is lotm you can't trust anyone

          He does not have to retain The Fool’s image. He has asked a ton of questions that are entirely beneath The Fool. In fact, it’s implied that the mirror thinks of him as a deity who is simply returning back to its lost power. In other words, the mirror is completely loyal to him regardless of how powerful he is. Both of your comments are wrong. Either there was some other reason Klein can’t ask or its just the author forcing plot.

            I might be wrong about the image but trust is another thing entirely. The only proof of loyalty that Klein got from the mirror is words from the mirror itself. You can't trust someone/thing simply from the words, there's nothing binding arrodes to Klein other than the good feeling that arrodes has. Hypothetically, what of arrodes realizes Klein is not actually an ancient god awakening but some random guy who is stumbling about in this world? there's no guarantee that he'll remain loyal
