    I think the MC under-emphasized how dangerous this investigation might be. He played it off as a simple test. But he knew that there are certain extremely powerful forces involved in Lanevus's case. Carelessly alerting those forces can only bring disaster.

      I disagree with your views on this matter bro! A secret organization needs to have members who can keep secrets and have a good head over their shoulders!!
      Even though Xio received a mission to find clues of Lanevus with only 100 pounds as a commission she should be more conscious of Beyonders especially criminals who may very well be serial murderers while she is only an Arbiter. She also slipped up while buying that Sheriff formula!! Gotta be careful!

          It's not a plot hole but a natural outcome due to his need for revenge. Emotions get the better of us sometimes, making us act irrationally. That's what happened to Klein. His mistakes are being shown to remind us that while Klein acts like a deity in the persona of Mr. Fool, he remains to be human. He is a human.

At the worst situation Audrey can just request Klein for safety and he can ask Azik for help since a follower contaminated by the true creator has godhood (previously mentioned when Klein can't divine something about him in the living world) and maybe can use his possible "descendant of death status to know something

        I concur. MC provided her with information, different portraits and so on. (We weren't explicitly informed about how much of his supernatural side he explained, but someone who is free after a month of having 100 pounds of bounty on his head for any information, isn't a pushover)
        Sure, we can shift blame.
        MC could tell EVERYTHING he knew and risk bringing attention to Klein Moretti in worst case, or that his speculations aren't perfect, diminishing the fool's prestige.
        Audrey could not push her friends into the club, knowing that they're mediocre (at least for now) and share basically the same information sources with her.
        And even Xio, after living this life for years, could develop a network that wouldn't expose her through a drunkard nice bartender. Or not underestimate the untraceable man.
        Her thinking so far is far too shallow YET. Allowing her into the club is also a bit suicidal. And it's not like she's a child that needs to be lead by a hand.
        And she's not even dead yet. For all we know, Fors may help.

        Audrey doesn't know who Lavenus is. When Klein set on finding him as a test, she assumed it was a safe task though her fault lies in not getting a clearer understanding while Klein's fault is underestimating Lavenus and not giving a full account of what Lavenus can do.

      Yes, and no, after Xio successfully managed to hire a shepherd to assassinate the intis ambassador he probably didn't regard Lanevus, a threat multiple sequences lower who seems to have managed to pull off a ritual with extremely low odds through the power of the sequence 0 Quill that he unwittingly had. Without the backing of the Quill, he's only a low level beyonder.
