      He is just trying to ascertain that he can pull people into the world above the gray fog even if they do not have special 'items'.
      When he first pulled people for the tarot club meeting they had-
      Audrey had a 'mirror'
      Alger had a 'glass'
      Derrick had a 'orb'
      This are all speculations on Klein's part.
      From this chapter he can confirm that as long as someone recites his honorable name he can pull them into the world above gray fog

          And if i remember correctly the second thing Audrey asked after asking if Klein has ill intent(if i remember right) was if they can leave and he said yes, throughout the first meeting he seemed to be mostly reacting to what they were saying i think
