I feel sorry for cf, people couldn't acknowledge the fact that this book had to be different from the first one and at the beggining i was one of them. Im glad i listened to the positive reviews and read it whole. He's an amazing writer whatever people say about sequel. Now ill wait for the new book and anime episodes of lotm boast

Mf wrote these two amazing novels and still apologizes for being subpar. I appreciated this afterword a great deal. It's 3 am so I don't have too much more to say. I won't ever regret reading lotm and coi, as they've inspired and motivated me as a writer as well as entertained me for 3 months pressure praise be to cuttlefish and to Mr Fool!

In my opinion Circle of Inevitability is noticeably better than Lord of the Mysteries. Character development and chemistry is A LOT better, to the point of compensating "sequel problems" that it has.

I'm kinda baffled that people think Lumian is a bad character. I guess it's just hard to accept the change of MC. I also hesitated to start COI because of that. I'm so invested in the Klein's story, why would I care about this random boy? But in first 10 chapters I realised that Lumian is a deeper and more interesting character than Klein, although by the volume 6 they switched and Lumian became more simple and Klein became deeper. Overall, I'm satisfied with both of them which is a rarity.

Volume 7 and 8 drove me into depression and in the final battle I was sure Lumian, Aurore, Jenna and many others would die. And when happy ending happened it felt like cold shower, absolute rollercoaster of emotions. Some would say it was too sudden but I think it's better that way. World of LotM is already so depressing and leaving it in even more depression would feel kinda pointless but happy ending says that even in such dark world the hope is still there which, honestly, we need in 2026.

Overall, casual Cuttlefish W acinema clap chad

My only complaint would have been more screen time for side/smaller characters (Mellissa, Benson, baboons, the Daoist disciple, etc) and their reactions towards the Mc’s actions and status. The glimpses given were not enough for me.
The plot being left to the reader is not a bad one since you alone can understand that it won’t be a happy ending in like 50-60 years.
The “Symbolism” usage did feel a bit overused with Lumian using it like 5 times but it was only executed at the perfect moment as a one time use and then countered or ended before feeling OP. Especially since the Great Old Ones are the Epitome of Power and only below the creators of a universe.
The tarot club members not showing up much in the first few volumes was definitely a buzz kill since I wanted to know their sequence and positions of power in and out of the club. Some occasional club meetings would have kept me more engaged and wanting more chapters.
All little complaints but nothing like readers acting like they know how to write a book better than the author himself. The fun in reading for me is in not knowing what will happen in the story. Guessing and coming to conclusions is normal but surprises and plot twists are what I find enjoyable.
Thankfully most people in the comments tagged spoilers and others warned about spoilers in the comments below. Of course re readers did spoil stuff like future Great Old ones appearing in later chapters or them replying to questions and tagging them as spoilers sometimes spoiled the answers.

    Hey CF I'm here
This is an inherent issue with sequels, and also due to my limited writing ability. I'm truly sorry I couldn't do better.

Man, cuttlefish was absolutely pressed from the heavy feedback he kept hearing. What a shame. This story is fantastic, and I wish he was nicer to himself about it. I particularly enjoyed how each volume and arc had its own emotions and vibes, slowly building up how it did. Honestly I liked this novel almost more than the first one. I really do love his cuttlefish humanizes everybody, especially the irrelevant side characters. I still think about that beggar turned informant who finally bought a ham only to get Smogged at the end of volume 2 of the first book.

I really do wish there will be more publications in this universe. Either he does make a third book, or he releases standalone side stories, I’ll be happy. I want nothing more than to see the Morettis all together once again. Or to spend some slice of life time in the dream city, or traveling around with the throuple+aurore (and for the implications Arrodes began mentioning about Lumian’s feelings vis a vis Aurore to be clarified).

Also, I just want Arrodes to have more screen time.

man cuttlefish listens to the chinese nitpickers too much, we all enjoyed the book.

everything is explained pretty well, only thing i’m confused about is how lumian could use white tower and visionary powers, but i guess i might not have read it properly

The amount of thought put into the story to make it as realistic and logical as possible was truly a very enjoyable read and one of my top few novels that I could immerse myself into the world.
