For some people, the most terrifying ghost story in this world was: actually knowing that oneself was already dead while [still alive], the kind that's completely done for.

There's this game, ngon (landgreen.github.io), where there's an upgrade that lets you hold off dying unless you complete a level with less than (+or equal to, maybe. forgot) 0 health.

To enter the next level you stand in front of a door/portal for like three seconds as a blue outline comes over the border of it (is interrupted when you walk/jump/fall away). If you have the upgrade and have less than 0 hp the outline is instead a thick red. Somewhat scary tbh, and often it's hopeless (you're waaay too far in the negatives, or heals simply refuse to spawn), all you can do is jump around before either just going in or reloading the page :P
