I was reading this novel at a consistent pace, around 50-100 chapters per day. Yet when I got to 40 chapters left, it took me 2 weeks to read. It seems I have subconsciously been dreading of this ending and preparing for it.

It was fun, and sad, but I'd rather remember this novel for the joys it gave me throughout the novel and for the thrill of countless schemes from different characters.

I'm still trying to process this ending, as I do with other novels, but this one is really painful, completely different to what I was expecting.

Regardless, I wish Cheng Shi good luck in his new experiment.

So he's the 221st Origin. This world truly had no answer. Will the next world finally have enough time for him to find it? I can only hope, for I'm a foolish man.

I’m coming back to this, wondering who was the original origin? Why didn’t I think of this? There must have been a world where the mc went through all this similar pain, and was forced to become “origin”, but who created the gods at that point? Were they originally not created by another being but became gods because of that faith like we saw early on, the corruption faith the mc had that was taken by death? Self created or created by the masses? I might’ve forgotten something

So the ending has been on my mind for a while and I think even though we don't get a definitive ending I can say with confidence that Cheng Shi's experiment will come to and end one day.

Why do I think this? Well for one we know 2 main facts: Origin destroys doomed worlds to recycle into a new world and worlds can escape Origin's control when Cheng Shi becomes Origin. This means that eventually as more and more worlds escape Origin's control eventually he won't have anything left to create new worlds.

At this point he will likely realize this means he has created a nearly infinite amount of subworlds with their own Origin running their own experiments. At this point he can either just destroy the entire experiment (thus all the hidden worlds) or trust that they will find an answer that he can then use for himself. Knowing Cheng Shi he will likely let these worlds run the course of their experiment.

You might then wonder well if infinite worlds have infinite Origins, all with their own infinite worlds can't the experiment then run forever? Not exactly. We know that Origin must be operating at a much different time scale compared to the Cheng Shi's in his universe because otherwise it would take the entire length of the void era for one experiment to be done. Cheng Shi hasn't even lived more than 30 years (i forgot his age tbh) so that's clearly not possible. He then must use the power of time to speed up his experiments.

Thus we have experiments nested in experiments with the factor of time exponentially increasing as we go inwards. We also know that eventually Origin will be unable to create more experiments without destroying an infinite amount of sub-Origins. He will leave them alone even destroying one world would be equivalent to destroying an infinite amount of Origins and thus experiments running. With this combined we can conclude that the experiment must end someday.

If that doesn't convince you, it may be easier to see how 0.9 + 0.09 + 0.009 + ... repeating on forever while having an infinite amount of additions will never be greater than 1.

Lmk if that made sense or anything I probably need to get back to studying for exams

      TLDR:

Cheng Shi can effectively run an infinite amount of experiments in a finite amount of time so he will find a solution and it won't be too late to save his friends.

I can say with confidence that Cheng Shi's experiment will come to and end one day

It definitely will but that day will be a long long time . We have no real measure of how long the experiment went on for but it is most definitely a small time compared to the time in the cheng shis story and that time will only continue to be dilated(?) as more experiment cheng shis become more origins . We don't even know whether the origin of the story is the true origin or another one in an experiment. And that's not even considering the sheer scale of the experiment and the huge number of samples .
So yeah the end will come one day but that day is long while away
