【Kill a Tier-4 Anomaly (Trait: Silent) to exchange for 3,000 system points or allow the system to devour it and extract its trait!】

Shen Ge listened to the voice echoing in his mind as he stared at the stray cat he had accidentally killed, his expression turning subtly complicated.

Returning to his apartment complex, he greeted the friendly security guard—only for another system notification to blare in his head:

【Warning! Detected: Tier-5 Anomaly (Trait: Three Heads, Six Arms). Host’s current strength is insufficient. Flee immediately!】

For a moment, Shen Ge hesitated, unsure whether to accept the orange the guard was offering him.

The next day, at the supermarket, Shen Ge loaded a cart with instant noodles and snacks.

【Host has bravely infiltrated a Tier-6 Anomaly’s territory and scavenged ample supplies. Reward: 1,000 system points!】

His hand froze mid-air, hovering over the payment QR code… Collapse

This isn't the watered down subtle Nationalism, it's the full on delusional type, and ruins what could otherwise be a decent Novel. (Ch 87) Read what you can tolerate, don't force yourself.

Disregard the low ratings and people raging about "nationalism", the novel is good (at least up to chapter 156).

Edit: chapter 180 has some slight shade thrown at South Korea. Chapter 181 has some slight nationalism, nothing much at all.

So before anything else, here’s a quick rundown of what the story’s about just so you’ll have an idea.

    Plot :
The protagonist is just heading home like usual when out of nowhere, a weird cat that doesn’t make any sound suddenly jumps him. It goes straight for an attack, and he barely manages to kill it by slamming it with the door and suffocating it. Right after that, some kind of system appears. But it’s off, it acts like it’s four years in the future. That’s when he finds out that the world is basically heading toward an apocalypse caused by strange “entities” running wild, each with their own creepy or insane abilities.
The whole story kind of leans into SCP-type stuff. There’s a lot of mystery, a bit of horror, and it also focuses on teamwork and cooperation. The vibe is more about figuring things out and staying alive rather than just powering up and beating enemies.

    Review:
I’d say this one’s above average. The plot’s actually pretty interesting, and the world feels solid enough. The main guy is pragmatic, he doesn’t do things just because it’s “the right thing” or to show off. He really weighs things out, looks at the risks, and goes with what makes the most sense. I like that kind of character more than the usual types that either go full justice or full psycho.
As for the side characters, they're not just background noise either. They show up, do stuff, and actually matter. You don’t get the feeling that they’re just there to hype up the protagonist.
The writing keeps a good amount of mystery and tension, even with the occasional humor. And the fight scenes are well-written, like I can clearly imagine how it’s going down without needing to reread anything. It’s not just punching and shouting either, there’s a bit of thinking involved, especially since every entity shows up with different abilities, so every fight ends up feeling new.
There are just a couple things that bug me a bit. The author’s Chinese, so yeah, you’ll get some nationalism here and there. But it’s not shoved in your face, and thankfully it doesn’t go full propaganda or anything. The protagonist also talks a lot. It gets slightly annoying at first, but later on, it kind of makes sense why he’s like that, so I just got used to it.

Now let's do the pros and cons :

    Pros:
Fight scenes are actually good. The descriptions are clear enough that I can picture what’s happening without getting lost or bored.
The protagonist is pragmatic. He thinks things through, doesn't go full hero or villain. Just does what makes sense in the situation.
Side characters actually matter. They're not just there to die or hype up the MC. They contribute to the story and get their own moments.
World building makes sense. So far, no big plotholes. The tech and tools they use feel grounded too, especially how they develop stuff based on the entities’ remains.
Each entity is unique. Since every one of them has different abilities, every encounter feels different. It doesn't get repetitive.

    Cons:
A bit of nationalism. It’s written by a Chinese author, so yeah, it shows up now and then. But at least it's not the type that constantly brags or bashes others.
MC talks too much sometimes. He’s kind of a chatterbox, which can get annoying early on, but later on there’s actually a reason for it that makes sense.

    My conclusion:
A solid “SCP-style” story that actually focuses on the entities and not just endless fight scenes. Not perfect, but pretty worth checking out if you like some mystery with your action.

This novel just proves that you shouldn’t blindly trust the reviews on this website. This book is surprisingly good.

Edit: I'm up to chapter 100 and I stand by my previous review, as long as you can ignore the occasional raging racism and nationalism.

My method for that is to just pretend whoever theyre being racist against is china. Surprisingly easy to do when you realize that their caricatures of other countries tend to act like china does.

The tag is wrong, because even if there's no romance later on, it's undeniable that it has already appeared.

The entrie MC as a character gets retconned in 90 chapters. He starts as a civilian, and becomes a crazy supersoldier when everyone else is a civilian with a gun after a week of training. It is also racist.
