Amid the steam of the industrial revolution, mysteries surge beneath the surface. Cults and secret societies seek the extraordinary in the shadows, while hidden gods gaze upon humanity from the heavens.

Forbidden knowledge, sacrificial rituals, and forgotten histories—mystery is everywhere.

Dorothy, unexpectedly transported to this increasingly bizarre world, discovers that to survive and move forward, she must adhere to one principle:

Knowledge is power.

And forbidden knowledge?

That’s an even greater power! Collapse

    5/10

Its kinda okay but it became boring. Chapter 1 - 400 are entertaining but from chapter 400+ it became more on info dumps, repetition plot, bland and plot armor (like when she needs something that impossible to acquire but suddenly miraculously she had it by chance or her friends/comrade has it). She always like to recap her brilliant ideas all the times. Specially mention her corpse marionette ring is kinda op. So overall 'average' 5/10

Her cheeks flushed again at the thought. Because of Dorothy’s earlier legitimization of all those scandalous rumors about Charles, his altered history now included a massive amount of salacious, suggestive memories—so many that even with deliberate filtering, Nephthys couldn’t avoid seeing them. Having witnessed a substantial portion of Charles’s romantic escapades firsthand, her heart was still racing.

    This novel sus!

    I am sad.
A few months ago I was bored so I tried to find the trashiest web novel to waste time on. So I went through the genderbender tag(Where all good writing goes to die) and found a LotM copycat that was posted on a fanfic site. For 50 chapters it was generic trash. Then the writer had an epiphany and started writing a novel that I can say was honestly really good. Some parts were jarring from the plothole filling from the first 50 chapters but overall it was a solid novel. But...
I just finished reading it so I am sad now.

So you're saying that the first 50 chapters of this novel is typical trash but it gets better after that? Does it end up as gold?

Power system for the main character is unnecessarily complicated mainly so the author can stretch it as much as possible with her one cheat that she has in the beginning of the story used in less than 10 chapters by chapter 500 (where I am at) and leaving the novel with a review of… shitty LOTM instead of 9 sequence levels it’s so far 7? and the main character due to that fact is only like either Black Earth (second weakest) or White Ash (Third weakest) been a while since I last read but it’s probably going to stay like that for the next 200 chapters it’s boring honestly but read it if you want more lotm or tribulation of mysteries

400 chapters in, I wanted to puke after reading first few chapters but it turned out to pretty good despite some issues. If you enjoys stories about MC outsmarting everyone - give it a go.
There are 2 main factors that make this novel superb among progression fantasy novels:
    1) Consistent supernatural elements. Abilities are determined by pathway and sequence - so most characters have a clear set of abilities. The author does not introduce new concepts in the middle of each fight only to forget them later. When MC learn a rule or an interaction it DOES seem to matter for the entirety of the novel (so far at least).
    2) While combat power is important, the novel is not so much about punching things but more about information gathering, investigation, schemes, tricks, etc. This works well because of the first point. Her investigations and schemes all seems reasonable, she does not pull out correct conclusions out of her ass or magically knows things (ok, that's technically a lie - there's literal divination in the novel - but it's quite limited so far, cost resources and can be countered at least). Enemies do not conveniently act retarded (ok, that may not be entirely correct either, I will talk about it in cons).
Those 2 point together are already a rarity for progression fantasy, honestly, the only novel I can think of that truly satisfy both of these points is LoM. The second point seems even better compared to LoM, though, it might be because she cheats even more than Klein and is more lucky?

    Cons:
    1) System. You just need to read 2 chapters to see the problem. Jarring videogames references, random unique cheats for MC, it breaks point (1) to some extend and it doesn't even seem to work the way it's described. I was honestly less annoyed by this than I expected, but still - LoM made me feel intrigued by protagonist cheat - this novel did the exact opposite.
    2) In the first 100-200 chapters - MC cheats, plot holes, coincidences, enemies being dumb, etc. All of these are described well by 3 words - "Corpse Marionette Ring":
    - Apparently, cheat system is not enough for MC, she also need an rare mystical item on top of that
    - That fact that such an item found itself in hand of non-beyonder nobody is already ridiculous (explanation in the story implies insane luck) and why wasn't it stollen by beyonders...
    - Both mystical police and cultist are shown to KNOW the effect of the ring I saw ZERO COUNTERMEASURES
I mentioned about MC outsmarting everyone, but, at least initially, it seems more like she has just uses cheats, luck and enemy stupidity well.
At some point the problem with ring specifically goes away, there are, of course, still cheats, some occasional coincidences, but I would say their level is acceptable. Though enemies are not stupid they also never smart enough to put her at edge.
    3) Lack of long-term direction beside "reaching the next sequence". LoM at least had revenge targets in the first art and fun and dangerous antagonist in the second half. This novel plot so far has been:
    - She randomly finds herself in trouble with cults
    OR
    - She need something for her ritual and the cult stays in her way
She basically does police work (who are incompetent), she often justifies dismantling cults to get money and resources (the power system is much more resource-based than LoM) - then doesn't even get that much, for all the risk. Meanwhile, traders organization probably gets 10 time more money from market manipulation.
And because of what I mentioned about enemies, so far the story lacks good antagonists as well (or any long-term antagonist for that matter).
3.5) Not much of an issue, but it's yet another gender-bender novel where gender-bender aspect has no relevancy.
