Despite my initial hesitance when it comes to reading novels by Chinese authors because of the risk of nationalism being heavily promoted, and sometimes there being bad translation qualities, I started reading it out of my love for showbiz webnovels.

And surprise, surprise, the quality was awkward what with the misgendering and the inconsistent naming, along with the overarching world being dominated mainly by Eastern elements.

However, there are some good parts, if you view it as such, like the system being kind to the protagonist and not executing physical punishments (ahem, An Insincere Idol's Blank Slate) and instead would never harm them.

Like another review stated, there is plagiarism involved where the mc uses works from Earth to raise his presence, but for me, I enjoyed reading about the reactions of the people on Blue Star reacting to the works from Earth.

Don't expect there to be a deep lore behind the system appearing or why the mc transmigrates, although there are some explanations but it's not in a lot of detail.

Also the Yu dynasty's chemistry and friendship is heartwarming, I especially like the character Sun Yaohuo, but he can be at times a bit of a bootlicker for the mc (thus a hint of bromance). And there's funny interactions between the mc and his fans.

Nonetheless, I can equally understand why many wouldn't like the novel as there's a few Western aspects included, like the songs the mc produces, along with the enforced superiority of one province over another.

This review is based on my personal bias of liking light-hearted showbiz novels without drama.

If you just enjoy these cultural plagiarism style articles focused on a creator/writer/singer/director recreating entertainment business, this one checks all the boxes barring romance and MC having a meaningful personality. The MC is just a lens to go through all the interesting details of these various businesses/fields and help a character reach the peak of artistry. Never really has any serious major challenges, but lots of entertaining wuxia style conflicts that creates a recurring pattern which if you like then you like, and if you hate then you hate.

I personally quite enjoy this author's works around this and have read many of their writing all as MTL

By chapter 500, there is no longer any talk of "calm reading." The main character is "The System", not the guy introduced in chapter 1. Replace him with anyone, even a cat, and "The System" will raise another "master."

This novel is great for relaxed reading and perfect for cruising along. The plot isn't too serious, making it a go-to choice while waiting for serious top-charting novels like Shadow Slave or Circle of Inevitability.
