You fall asleep the moment you enter. The deeper you go, the sleepier you become? Lumian mused silently. He turned and walked in another direction.

Yup. Almost certainly Evernight. I wonder if this will become a pattern where she becomes every protagonist’s sugar mommy.

In the desolate ruins, the trees seemed incredibly resilient. They intertwined and embraced each other, forming a wooden wall five to six meters tall.

This wooden wall had numerous green leaves and branches, a stark contrast to the deathly silence and desolation surrounding it.

And this is very possibly an influence of Lilith. It’s actually both exciting and frustrating that I’ve read the prequel now. Half the mystery and suspense is sorta gone when you realize just how many allies and failsafes are in place for the MC. Not saying Lumian isn’t in a precarious situation of course, but it’d have been a whole lot more intense if I couldn’t make these guesses in advance.

At the same time I’m glad I read the first book as I’d probably be very confused and miss a lot of clues in hindsight like I did on my first read of LOTM.

Maybe these are deliberately shown by Cuttlefish. You know to misguide us at some point.

Very possible. If he actually does this to lure us into a false sense of security before things spiral out of control, I’d be very impressed since everyone will wind up equally bamboozled.

And considering how the first volume is called Nightmare, things might really suck for Lumian at the start, even with all the protection. After all, he’s pretty much the only one guaranteed to make it to the end more or less.

it really sounds like the M.O. of cuttlefish. Always seeking the next opportunity to play with the emotions of the readers.

I saw a lot of your comments back on LOTM! Nice to see you finally comment here. I only read LOTM once and it was back on October to January, so my memory is hazy a bit
