This... the bird should be dead by now, right? G3 wouldn't spout nonsense like "You should have stabbed its heart."?

This isn’t Marvel. The laws of physics are play-doh to VTB it’s not dying from a flesh wound anywhere.

I thought it would be more exciting, that he would make the vile spawn bend to his will and become a subordinate; the chapter felt lacking in tension.

Each one, wow, there was no tension. Sure, it seems like things are difficult, but honestly, Sunny has been through much harder. This is just the beginning of the fight, and things aren't even desperate yet.
We know this could happen, just as we know Sunny and Nefis will get out of this; I'll feel the tension when Ananke is in grave danger.

I'm sorry to comment on your feelings but this is only the beginning of the fight and Sunny almost died while losing so many shades including wolf.

Sunny almost died many times, and let's be honest, if he manages (almost certainly he will) to kill the Vile Spawn and the VTB, it will have been worth it. They would be powerful shadows, and not to mention he would recover his Fate. Well, not that you're wrong, but instead of being nervous, I'm excited for what's to come.

It's like a song, I like the beginning and feel satisfied, but I only get excited when the chorus starts. I'm liking how it's going and I see the wave forming, but it hasn't reached the peak yet.

I agree. This seemed pretty ho-hum for a double boss fight and one that you think has so many implications. I’m sure it’s not near over but the first couple chapters were meh. Cassie’s war chapters had more drama

Yes, exactly, those two chapters seemed unsubstantial. Of course, it probably won't continue like that, but it wasn't something that made me apprehensive.
