    You know , it's quite annoying trying to split hairs on what could and could not be the truth. Because he's definitely withholding information. And he's making excuses for himself to devour humanity, because he knows about the tomb of Ariel, and he knows secrets about the middle of the nightmare desert, even though we don't. There were definitely more peaceful solutions to becoming a spirit, but As he said, the nightmare spell pushes you forcefully artificially to become a spirit. He's trying to do that naturally artificially.
