    Thinking about it now it's literally impossible not to exist a nightmare spell cult in this world. Humans literally create new religions for any stupid reason. It was probably a mistake by the author's part no to include it, but it would probably change a lot of the story anyway.

      I mean the author did mention stuff like cults and religions centered around the spell, we don’t see them now because they got suppressed and dissolved by the great clans. Asterion is literally the sole survivor of a extreme cult like group that gave up on the waking world for the dream realm because they viewed it as holy or something along those lines.

      Author choosed a timeline when all of these were suppressed. So it is not a flaw of the story as it was stated in the very earlier chapters that these things existed before.

    People really can't appreciate a good world building chapters. I myself won't complain a hundred of them. It is fun to know how the current civilization came to be. And also how the current great clans tho cruel are the best we had (What the government Saint said in antartica to sunny).
    Also this all might be really important to understand asterion as well, as he is closely tied to this cult factions.

    It was also not that rare to see people get all kinds of weird ideas about the Nightmare Spell, seeing it as some kind of divine intervention
