Unfortunately not everyone has the great backing and comfort of knowing there is someone out there who cares rani

Most of them are hanging on by thread killing and growing numb not even sure what this whole war is for what is this terrible exhaustion and scars for

They want to live but even with great determination not to diss the world i doubt most of them will ever improve in rank become exceptional like the crew they are background chracters

It reminds of a quote from uncle big beard
To us minor characters crying is of no use no one will hear us even if we shout, we can only preserve by ourselves Preserve until you accomplish great feats become extraordinary ,Either that or embarce death

I am curious how readers if ever transported to ss world would do there might even be plot restrictions that stop anyone not named from growing stronger and grasping their destiny
Knowing all you know as you watch sunny and nephis be growing and shaping the world

That is a really interesting thought. Many people seem to dismiss it or not even think about it, but things would probably go in that direction.

        It's a very subconscious thing
I am by no means dismissing the terrible exhaustion, training and discipline she underwent herself

Being the first awakened she has been living a tough life that most can't follow
It's just the rewards are well worth it for while others don't even know or have purpose i believe they would have long since gave up and fled if there was even slightest way out a chance
Unfortunately even saints will find tough to leave godgrave alone
They are just going the survival instinct and difficulty to take your life loved ones home a dream someone they want confess just retire and have peaceful mudane life
There is no rest in this world
I pity when you can't even break away from mudane trapped in circle of your fears borders and mentality

The government doesn't have a sovereign to open dream gates for people to leave the waking world nor can it prevent sleepers from entering their first Nightmare.

There is already one, Echoes aren't living beings, they are basically robots controlled by a high level I.A, there is basically no difference between killing with a Arrow and a Echo.

Honestly it’s not possible. It’s like Sunny’s flaw he can’t circumvent saying the truth no matter what he does. He can’t keep silent even if he does not want to answer. Similarly Rain cannot mentally or physically do anything with the intent of killing another living being. That includes commanding an echo to do it for her otherwise her flaw wouldn’t make sense.

g3 is starting to tell it from the grunts' perspective, showing how the sovereigns are starting to slowly lose their grip on their subjects. seems like nephis' plans are coming to a slow blaze.

as for sunny's mission, maybe it has something to do with the pov suddenly shifting back to rain-maybe he'll infiltrate their area and the two will meet for some comedic relief.

Well, nephs plans involve peoples hearts and said people are being sent to die. The only person that gets anything from the dead is song, I really don’t get what the sovereigns are doing at this point.

neph's plans require her to manipulate the emotions of people from both sides, which may seem heartless and cruel, but that's the only way for them at this point. starting from her countering anvil on his declaration that the war was for her sake, to shadow lord's several acts of mercy, and some other acts of kindness which elevate and contrast her from the two sovereigns. she needed the people to lose faith on the two sovereigns and shift their object of devotion to her, thereby weakening them and empowering her. those emotions are further elevated by the lowering morale on both sides while nephis is always painted in a brighter light.

as for the loss of life, the two sovereigns are simply decreasing the number of devotees on their opponent's side. i think it was mentioned somewhere that population count is also calculated on a sovereign's power, so the more citizens they have, the more powerful they are, and vise versa-i think it's even the actual cause of the war, maybe. so they are lowering the other person's numbers while hoping they retain more followers at the very end. this also plays to nephis' plans as decreasing both sides' population weakens both her opponents. she won't be impacted much since practically everyone aside from the sovereigns and a handful of people see her favorably so she still gets the collective numbers from both parties regardless of the outcome.

"What is even the point of the war? It doesn't make sense. That bastard, the King of Swords, claimed that it was on behalf of Changing Star, who had almost died at the hands of Song assassins. But Lady Nephis herself was against the war, to begin with! She still is. It's just the royals who are thirsty for blood."

And with this, the plan has begun to sprout. If Neph were to retaliate now, I genuinely think all soldiers will stop fighting. Even most saints from both sides will stop as they know this war is pointless. However, the issue is the fact that Kai, Effie and Jet are stuck in a time loop so like a third of their fire power is nonexistent.
