All that after I went out of my way to be gentle…'

Honestly a pretty fair end to this battle (I’m genuinely confused why people are hating). Sunny’s main goal here was to show that he was a being that won’t backdown and the level of skill displayed will make the Song in wary of him even more. There is a reason why Sunny kept them alive as once the sovereigns are dead (I’m assuming the battle at the end will keep the saints out except for Sunny, Neph and maybe Mordret), they have a vital role of keeping everyone alive. Remember Sunny is a selfish being, who only cares about his own ambitions and not killing 6 of the saints makes a statement saying, you aren’t worth it. There is no right answer to this battle, and Sunny got to show off, and like cmon who didn’t like that sunny took basically 25% of the saints on his own. constraint

i wanna see rain's pov asap, plus that guy in their little cohort's drama on how terrible/epic shadow lord is. maybe a side of the survivor saint's subtly growing trauma with shadows. also, i wonder if that healer girl in rain's cohort would have any significance later on other than a mob cos the way things are progressing, she might just get killed and mentioned in passing.

Just imagine she's talking to Tamar et al, and accidentally slips out "my brother" when talking about the Lord of Shadows. Stunned silence would ensue, but things would start to click for Tamar: the ability to manifest a weapon from shadows, the enigmatic rise of the Lord of Shadow combined with Rain's awakening without a Nightmare, how the two of them survived falling into the canyon, and so many other things.

Fancy upgrade but... what a useless fight. It only served for Anvil and Song's forces to learn more about his power and 'weakeness'.

It's quite funny how things could have been different had Mordred or someone with his power of control had been on their side. Imagine taking over their powerhouses, one by one, and leaving both rulers alone in their 'kingdom'.

        True, it was BEYOUND useless.
Did you forget man? Any dead Saint, or rather, any dead expert, is one less man to fight the actual dangers that has yet to appear.
Each fight that Sunny and Neph joins that only results in the death of mankind's forces is a defeat. His upgrade was the only positive in this one, sadly.
They are fighting a different war while acting within the Anvil-Song war and unfortunately, they lack the actual means to profit on it. At best, Sunny will develop his skills more while Neph will develop her budding domain.

had Sunny found a way to turn the dead into Echos/Shadows, then he could slowly turn Song AND Anvil's forces into his. Yet, the author all but sealed this under a veil of difficulty and forgetness.

Except for the fact that serpent's transformations cost essence, so he can't permanently use beastmaster's powers.

i think beastmaster's ability is kinda redundant since it parallels with sybil's ability anyway right?
