This sucks. And 2 things just don't make any sense:
    1. How do the Song knew Lord of the Shadow's counter?
    2. How did they reach citadel without an army?

Shadow powers isn't a one of kind power. There are other people with shadow powers, and of course a supreme being like ki song would have info about weaknesses of lots of powers.

As for your second question, we don't know how they found the citadel, but it was implied that mordret was the one who did. And it is much easier for a few elite saints, literally the strongest ones in the song domain, to go alone and reach the citadel. They don't need an army, as an army actually slows them down.

"They don't need an army, as an army actually slows them down." that is simply not true g3 has implied that a team of saints wouldn't be able to reach the citadel no matter how strong they are. There must be another reason either mordret did something or big mama did.

For your 1st question darkness counters shadow which is common knowledge for those who know a lot of things about the world like the sovereigns
For your 2nd question mordret made his way towards the nameless temple and this citadel is close to it so he must have discovered it and all of song princesss have lineage of beast who is the god of beast and hunters so traveling the jungle is easier for them compared to others

While I love this novel G3 has a tendency of being severely inconsistent with the character’s competency when it suits the narrative. Which wouldn’t be an issue if it wasn’t done in such huge plot defining moments.

    So, in summary,
Valor lose about 8 saints(I think).
Song lose no one but some reflections.
    But gateway remains.

Kinda didnt like these chapters of the fight at the citadel. It really felt like team song had every bit of plot armor and "tricks" that could be thought of. Almost perfect counters for Nephis and Sunny, somehow getting there before them and staging an ambush, and of coarse getting away with no real losses. It's somewhat expected for no major losses to occur since the war just started, but then why would the author include such a huge clash this early, idk. At the end its just a bunch of chapters resulting in a "nobody wins" situation. Sunny did learn he could posses echoes/maybe people with is avatar but his fight overall was pretty lame.

    Chapter 1907: Embers of Evolution

As Saint manifested her own version of the Onyx Mantle, a profound sense of exhaustion seemed to wash over her—if such a being like herself could truly feel fatigue. Her form wavered, the intricate onyx armor shimmering like a mirage before she dissolved into Sunny's shadow.

The sudden dissipation left him momentarily stunned, marveling at the rapid evolution of her abilities.

Shaking off his reverie, Sunny pressed on, continuing his exploration of the crumbling Citadel. The inferno raged around him, devouring the ancient structure with insatiable hunger. Massive wooden beams, blackened and weakened, groaned ominously before giving way.

The air was thick with smoke and ash, yet amidst the destruction, there was a strange, mesmerizing beauty. Embers danced through the air like fireflies, creating a dazzling display of miniature fireworks. The orange glow cast everything in an otherworldly light, transforming the Citadel's final moments into a macabre spectacle.

As Sunny navigated the burning labyrinth, his Shadow Sense alert for any signs of danger or opportunity, something caught his eye.

Amidst the chaos of flame and smoke, a doorframe stood out—not for its grandeur, but for its peculiar resistance to the inferno.

Sunny approached the doorframe cautiously, his eyes narrowing behind his mask. The flames that had consumed everything else seemed to shy away from this particular spot, creating a small oasis of calm in the midst of chaos.

He knew better than most the destructive power of Nephis's flames — they weren't something that could be easily resisted or negated.

'This isn't normal,' he thought, a mixture of curiosity and wariness coursing through him.

As he made his way towards the anomaly, a massive beam crashed down just inches from where he stood. Sunny barely had time to step through the shadows, reappearing a few feet away.

The heat was suffocating, even with the protection of his Onyx Mantle.

Reaching the doorframe at last, Sunny looked down at the charred remains of what must have once been an ornate door. Now, it was nothing more than a pile of ash and splinters.

Yet the frame itself remained untouched, as pristine as the day it was crafted.

With a deep breath, he stepped through the doorway. The change was immediate and jarring. The roar of the inferno muffled, becoming little more than a distant whisper. The air, moments ago thick with smoke and ash, was suddenly clear and cool.

Sunny found himself in a small room, its dimensions a stark contrast to the grand halls of the Citadel. At first glance, there seemed to be nothing extraordinary about the space. No ornate decorations, no ancient artifacts, nothing to suggest why this particular room should be protected from the destruction outside.

But then, as his eyes adjusted to the dim light, he saw it.

As Sunny's eyes adjusted, a subtle shift in the shadows caught his attention. The darkness seemed to coalesce, taking on a form that was eerily familiar. It was a method of materialization he knew all too well—one he had used countless times himself.

    'Another Shadow Aspect user?'

The thought sent a chill down his spine. In all his years, Sunny had never encountered another with powers like his own.

His body tensed, muscles coiling like springs as he prepared for battle. His mind raced through potential strategies, evaluating the confined space and how it might affect his use of his abilities.

'If they can use shadows, I'll need to be—'

But his preparations halted abruptly as the figure fully emerged from the darkness. The presence that filled the room was... overwhelming.

    Familiar, yet impossibly potent.

Sunny's eyes widened behind his mask as he took in the sight before him.

The figure wore armor reminiscent of his own Onyx Mantle, but it was more intricate, more refined. Patterns of shadow and light danced across its surface, creating an illusion of depth that seemed to draw the eye in.

The face that looked back at him was his own, yet not. It was as if someone had taken his features and sculpted them from the finest porcelain, achieving a level of perfection that was almost unsettling.

But it was the presence that truly gave Sunny pause. He recognized it immediately, having felt it emanate from beings like Anvil, the King of Swords.

It was the unmistakable aura of a Supreme.

And yet, it was coming from... himself?

The future Sunny regarded him with a mixture of amusement and something deeper—perhaps nostalgia?

"Well," the apparition spoke, its voice a more resonant version of Sunny's own, "this is certainly bringing back memories."

Sunny struggled to find his voice, his mind reeling from the implications of what stood before him. "You're... me?"

A wry smile tugged at the future Sunny's lips. "In a manner of speaking. Though I suspect you have more pressing questions than simple confirmation of identity."

Indeed, Sunny's mind was awhirl with queries. How had he achieved Supreme status? What trials lay ahead? And perhaps most urgently—

"Why are you here?" Sunny finally managed, his voice steadier than he felt.
