    I thinks guards are there in case she becomes corrupted. Defilement spreads through knowledge. Since she is a sybil and might see things she was not supposed to she might become corrupted. Which is why the guards are deaf - so she wont be able to share that dangerous knowledge with them and corrupt them too (remember how mad prince wanted to share some secret?)
