    I am more and more confident it has to do sth with time loops. The description of the mirror also said that the river flowed through time and the only truth was at the source meaning back in time. I think the 13 million number may also be how many times he has looped. The sin so solace having a physical form and "more real than himself" feels like he had been using it to kill millions.
