      Naw, cuz Modrets ability is to steal bodies, which is why he can copy abilities whenever for however long. Even then, he can only keep the abilities of whoever he's currently possessed.

    For sin of solace, is that why it never lies, just insults and somewhat misleads? Because the truth is what can cause the greatest damage to the psyche, or something. I’ve been noticing a connection between mental attacks (sin of solace, bitter cusp description) and Ariel,and is that just from the truth that he rules?

    Sure, great, you can copy ONE ability from ONE being and use it ONCE.
    But what if you copy that memory multiple times?
    Sure, it's probably a really complex weave but you have the shards, they are ascended shards after all, and you can get the materials.
    After some trial and error I'm sure he can do it! And if he copies it even once them repeating the process will be easier.

    The writing style has subtly changed. Either there was a new translator since the last ~100 chapters or there was no translator and there is one now.
    And I'm not liking it!

    Btw the creature's name was Defiled Seeker of the Truth. The truth. Which means somehow, somebody or something that was in search of the truth that Ariel buried got Defiled. Not sure if he got Defiled by The Truth itself or in the process. But regardless, The Truth is dangerous. And Defilement leads to Corruption probably. It's an educated guess, that can be made from names of the other creatures, such as Remnant of the Jade Queen or the Defiled Heralds and Defiled Witnesses.
